Sydney Sweeney has taken a significant step that could redefine her career path. The actress has announced the launch of her own production company, Honey Trap, according to Deadline. The company will be led by longtime creative collaborator Kaylee McGregor, who will serve as president of production and development. Honey Trap has already secured a first-look deal with Sony Pictures, marking a major milestone for Sweeney’s expanding Hollywood presence.

Sweeney’s recent works highlight her rising influence in the industry. She previously starred in and executive-produced the hit romantic comedy Anyone But You at Sony, which starred Glen Powell and grossed over $210 million worldwide. She also shared the news of her new venture on Instagram, captioning a post, “sticking around @honeytrap.”

The actress has several projects lined up at Sony. She will star in the remake of Barbarella for TriStar Pictures, directed by Edgar Wright, and is attached to produce The Registration, based on Madison Lawson’s novel. Sweeney also starred alongside Amanda Seyfried in Lionsgate’s The Housemaid, which grossed nearly $400 million globally. She is set to reprise her role opposite Kirsten Dunst in the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, with filming scheduled for this fall.

Currently, Sweeney is involved in multiple projects at various stages of production. She is working on a film written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth at Warner Bros., and has recently wrapped Custom of the Country for StudioCanal, co-starring Leo Woodall. She is also filming Gundam in Australia for Legendary and Netflix, directed by Jim Mickle.
Reflecting her company’s vision, Honey Trap’s mission states, “We believe the most unforgettable stories live in contradiction. Our mission is to create bold, cinematic film and television that challenges perception, sparks conversation, and leaves a lasting emotional imprint.” Sweeney’s ambitions extend beyond acting—she also aims to step into the director’s chair at Sony, signaling her desire to shape her creative future across multiple roles in Hollywood.
