Norwegian-born, London-based artist shy FLW returns with ‘rotation’, a five-track EP crafted through sharp songwriting, instinctive melodies, and a polished, modern pop-R&B sound. Led by the new single ‘F.A.M.E.’, the project combines the energy of earlier releases ‘305.’, ‘Lotus’, ‘Rotation’, and ‘Play Nice’, while revealing a darker, more introspective side of her songwriting.
‘rotation’ is now available on your preferred streaming platform via APOLLO Distribution.
Listen to ‘rotation’ below:
Drawing inspiration from contemporary R&B and modern pop artists like FLO and Tate McRae, ‘rotation’ strikes a balance between sleek production and raw emotion, making each song feel immediate and authentic. The contrast between bright, rhythmic beats and lyrics that are more exposed and conflicted gives the EP a sense of movement that echoes its title.
The final track, ‘F.A.M.E.’, marks the most introspective moment on the EP. Featuring dark alt-R&B production, rhythmic toplines, and an intoxicating afterparty vibe, the song examines society’s obsession with fame and the emotional toll it can take. Reflecting on the public downfalls of celebrities and the paradox of aspiring to stardom despite knowing its pitfalls, lyrics like “Front page of TMZ” and “Let me be a mess / Unblessed, fucked up / Ripped dress” blend glamour with self-destruction, highlighting both the allure and emptiness of fame.
The recurring line “Yeah, you know I want it” grows more unsettling as the song progresses, transforming ambition into something closer to obsession. As the closing track, ‘F.A.M.E.’ leaves the EP on a vulnerable, thought-provoking note.
