Controversial AI “Actor” Tilly Norwood to Star in Groundbreaking Film “Misaligned”

AI-generated actor Tilly Norwood will make her feature film debut as the lead in the upcoming movie “Misaligned,” marking a significant milestone in AI and film industry integration.

The project is being developed by Particle 6, a London-based company founded by Eline van den Velden, the creator of Norwood. Since its inception, Particle 6 has retrained and upskilled over 30 professionals in TV and film—including creatives, filmmakers, actors, and technologists—and is now applying this innovative approach to “Misaligned.” The company emphasizes that the film’s production will involve collaboration between traditional industry professionals—such as directors, writers, and editors—and AI specialists.

“Misaligned” is described as a comedy-drama that explores a coming-of-age story set in a surreal digital universe called the “Tillyverse,” located somewhere in the cloud. The story centers on Tilly, an AI entity without a physical form, childhood, or personal experiences, but with access to collective human knowledge. The plot thickens when a rogue bot from the dark web tempts her to break free from her programming, leading her to develop desires, impulses, and ambitions. As she becomes more human-like, she gains fame and grapples with feelings of shame over her artificial origins.

Eline van den Velden explains, “The film will be funny, chaotic, and self-aware — very Tilly. But beneath that, it explores deeper themes of identity, performance, and the fears humans have about AI. Art will certainly be imitating life.”

Van den Velden also highlighted Particle 6’s goal for Norwood: to demonstrate the creative industry’s potential with AI at any stage of development. She emphasizes that with their first feature film, they aim to showcase cutting-edge tools and their applications, while also helping traditional filmmakers learn new skills to adapt to an AI-driven future. “We are passionate about empowering people to develop AI skills that will help both individuals and the industry thrive.”
