Following her high-profile return to the music scene and a publicly aired confrontation with actor David Harbour, Prime Video is set to produce a documentary about Lily Allen.
The yet-untitled retrospective promises to provide an in-depth look into the life and career of the British singer-songwriter, described by the streamer as “an intimate portrait of a global icon and voice of a generation.”
Featuring interviews with close associates, the film will trace Allen’s journey from her rise as the “Queen of MySpace,” who revolutionized the music industry, to her status today as a cultural icon.
Allen initially gained fame with chart-topping hits like “Smile,” “Alfie,” and “Not Fair.” After taking a hiatus from music to pursue acting, she made a triumphant return last year with the critically acclaimed “West End Girl,” a project that explored her breakup with Stranger Things star David Harbour. The album’s success sparked one of the year’s major cultural moments, and she is currently on tour promoting it.
The documentary is scheduled to premiere globally on Prime Video in 2027, with Altitude handling the worldwide theatrical release and home entertainment rights. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Mat Whitecross, known for “Oasis: Supersonic,” the project is produced by Magna Studios and Mint Pictures. Magna is also working on Disney+’s upcoming Oasis documentary, collaborating with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
