Amazon MGM Studios is working on an animated film centered around the Mad Hatter, with Scott Mosier, known for his work on Clerks, serving as the adapting producer. Details about the plot remain under wraps. The character of the Mad Hatter is the eccentric, top-hat-wearing figure from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, famous for hosting a whimsical tea party with the March Hare and the Dormouse.
The project is being produced by Adam Nagle through Aniventure. Negotiations reportedly involved Aniventure’s Chief Content Officer Joe Della Rosa, along with Frankfurt Kernit’s Sasha Levites and Adam Macy.
Scott Mosier has an extensive background in animation and film. He co-wrote and produced the 2013 animated film Free Birds, in which he also voiced the character Pizza Dude. He co-directed Illumination’s 2018 animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, which grossed over $500 million worldwide. Mosier is also known for his acting in Kevin Smith’s Clerks franchise, producing several of Smith’s films, and providing voices for Sing 2, The Secret Life of Pets II, and The Grinch. He is represented by WME, Untitled Entertainment, and Sloss Eckhouse Dasti Haynes Loco.
