After securing exclusive rights through a major pre-emptive deal prior to publication, Netflix has announced the development of a feature adaptation of Deep End, the instant #1 New York Times bestselling New Adult romance novel by Ali Hazelwood, best known for The Love Hypothesis.
Published in 2025 by Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House, Deep End follows the passionate college romance between a competitive diver and a talented swimmer who find themselves venturing into forbidden waters. Laura Kosann has been tapped to write the screenplay, with Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing through 21 Laps. The project also involves producers Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan from Unwell Productions. Hazelwood will serve as an executive producer, alongside Matthew Janzen from Unwell Productions, while Emily Morris and Emily Feher will oversee production for 21 Laps.
Since its release, Deep End has been licensed in 21 territories worldwide, selling nearly 1.5 million copies globally.
