Amy Poehler is reuniting with Mike Schur, the creator of Parks and Recreation, for a new comedy series titled Dig. Announced in May 2025, the show is set to premiere on Peacock TV on November 23, 2026. Alongside the release date, the series has unveiled its first-look images featuring Poehler in her archaeologist role.
Dig is a 10-episode comedy inspired by Kate Myers’ bestselling novel Excavations. The story centers on a group of passionate archaeologists and some less motivated college students spending their summer on a dig site in Greece. When they uncover a rare artifact, they embark on an unforgettable adventure.
Poehler stars as Elise in her second major live-action TV role following Parks and Recreation. She co-wrote the pilot and serves as an executive producer alongside Schur. The cast also includes Hugh Laurie as Neville, an archaeology enthusiast professor; Geraldine Viswanathan as Dylan; Antonia Thomas as Clare; and Fina Strazza as Patty. Guest appearances will be made by Kayvan Novak, Jon Pointing, and Bonita Friedericy.
Mike Schur acts as showrunner with J.J. Philbin, who also writes and executive produces the series. Other executive producers include Morgan Sackett, Dean Holland, Kate Arend, Jordan Grief, Dave Beck, David Miner, and Sharon Jackson. Kate Myers is involved as co-executive producer.
The show promises a bright, engaging setting at archaeological sites with a mix of humor and adventure for viewers to enjoy.
