Hulu has landed Hard Feelings, a new romantic comedy series created by and starring actress, comedian and writer Mary Beth Barone. The project, produced by A24, is now being fast-tracked for development.
Barone has also brought on her frequent collaborator and Overcompensating co-star Benito Skinner, who is set to appear in a supporting role. Details about Skinner’s character are being kept under wraps.
Written by Barone in her first series-creating and starring role, Hard Feelings centers on Claire Ambrose (Barone), New York City’s most sought-after dating consultant. Claire makes a living teaching straight men how to communicate and develop emotional intelligence, despite repeatedly finding herself attracted to men who seem to lack both.
Scott King will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Barone and Skinner will also executive produce, alongside Mackenzie Roussos of E360 and A24.
The series marks another collaboration between Barone and Skinner, who have previously worked together on several projects, including Overcompensating.
