Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike find themselves at the centre of a wealthy family’s explosive power struggle in the first teaser trailer for Wife and Dog, the upcoming thriller from writer-director Guy Ritchie.
The new film takes audiences inside the privileged world of the Fairbank family, where wealth and influence hide a deeply fractured family dynamic. As the battle over succession begins to intensify, old grudges and family secrets threaten to push the relatives into increasingly dangerous territory.
The teaser hints at a story filled with betrayal, manipulation, blackmail and murder, with Cumberbatch and Pike seemingly positioned at the heart of the conflict.
Ritchie’s latest film continues his fascination with Britain’s upper-class world, combining family drama with crime, dark humour and suspense. The filmmaker is also producing the movie alongside John Friedberg and Ivan Atkinson.
An Impressive British Ensemble
Cumberbatch and Pike lead a formidable cast that also features Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton, Paddy Considine and Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins.
The ensemble brings together some of Britain’s most recognisable acting talent, with the story revolving around the Fairbank family and the increasingly vicious competition for control of its future.
For Cumberbatch and Pike, Wife and Dog offers the chance to play characters caught in a world where loyalty can quickly become a liability. As the teaser reveals more of the family’s internal tensions, it appears that nobody can be completely trusted.
The film also marks a collaboration between Ritchie and Cumberbatch, bringing together the filmmaker behind Sherlock Holmes and the actor who famously played Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series Sherlock.
Wife and Dog is written and directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Ritchie, John Friedberg and Ivan Atkinson.
The film is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 23, 2026.
