Stanley Tucci is returning to the world of high-stakes crime with Masterplan, an upcoming heist thriller that puts the acclaimed actor at the center of an ambitious attempt to steal one of the world’s most famous works of art. The film also stars Simona Tabasco and Victor Belmondo, with a newly released trailer offering a first glimpse at the dangerous operation.
Masterplan follows Roger, a retired thief who decides to return to his criminal past for one final job. His target is none other than Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, housed at the Louvre in Paris. However, pulling off a robbery of one of the world’s most heavily protected museums requires a team with a very particular set of skills.
To make the plan possible, Roger recruits two younger specialists. Tabasco plays Chiara, an Italian cybercrime expert whom Roger describes as a “hacking wizard.” Belmondo stars as Jay, a French explosives specialist whose technical expertise could prove crucial to the operation.
But the heist takes an unexpected turn when the team’s personal connections are revealed. Chiara and Jay are long-lost siblings, while Roger is revealed to be their father. The discovery introduces a complicated family dynamic to an already dangerous mission, forcing the three characters to overcome their differences while working together.
The trailer balances the tension of the planned Louvre robbery with lighter interactions between the unlikely trio. Alongside the thriller elements, the family relationships and comedic moments give Masterplan a crime-comedy tone.
Thomas Vincent directs the film and co-wrote the screenplay with BAFTA-winning writer David Wolstencroft. The project was produced by Marco Rossi, Gaumont, and Amazon MGM Studios, with filming taking place in France and Italy.
Masterplan is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on October 16, 2026. The film will be available across more than 240 countries and territories.
