Taylor Swift is giving fans an early glimpse at the highly anticipated music video for her new single, “Patient Zero,” and the cinematic project features two major Hollywood stars.
Swift has revealed a first look at the video, which stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell alongside the singer. The brief teaser offers a mysterious preview of what appears to be an emotionally charged and visually ambitious story.
The footage features Swift and Johnson in a series of striking images, including scenes around a bathroom sink, an underwater sequence and a gravesite. Farrell is also seen alongside the pair, adding another intriguing element to the mysterious narrative.
Swift is also taking on directing duties for the project, with Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, known for films including The Revenant and Birdman, behind the camera.
The full “Patient Zero” music video will make its world premiere during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27. The premiere comes as Swift prepares to release the song as part of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, alongside three other new tracks.
The VMAs will be an especially significant night for Swift, who is also set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors, recognising her work behind the camera and influence on music-video storytelling.
With Johnson, Farrell and Swift sharing the screen and Lubezki contributing his acclaimed cinematography, “Patient Zero” is shaping up to be one of Swift’s most intriguing visual releases yet.
Fans will finally be able to see the complete video when it premieres at the VMAs this Sunday.
