Paris-born artist Dayla makes her long-awaited return to music with ‘TV – 90s kid’, her first new release in six years — a euphoric art-pop anthem about nostalgia, disillusionment and reclaiming your dreams.

Arriving last week, ‘TV – 90s kid’ marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for Dayla. Today, she unveils the track’s official music video, a self-directed and edited visual filmed during a solar eclipse. Embracing a raw, DIY aesthetic, the video mirrors the song’s central message: even when life doesn’t look the way you imagined it would, it’s never too late to reclaim your dreams.

A euphoric dose of art-pop, ‘TV – 90s kid’ pays homage to a generation of millennials navigating the relentless realities of ‘2026 adulthood’. Dreamy production, weightless vocals and soothing nostalgia create a fleeting sense of escape, while beneath the surface, Dayla channels modern disillusionment into something hopeful and defiant.

Speaking about the track, Dayla explains:

“TV – 90s kid is an anthemic ode to the millennials, it’s made for anyone who feels let down by what they were promised growing up. It’s a ‘hopecore’ sonic sanctuary that transforms modern disillusionment into a fierce rallying cry to reclaim your dreams.”

The sentiment is captured perfectly in the song’s lyrics:

“I’m a 90s kid with broken dreams, don’t want to live my life in disbelief, ’cause I’m a 90s kid who gotta dream, just wanna live my life the way I feel.”

A New Chapter

‘TV – 90s kid’ arrives after a six-year hiatus, marking an exciting return for an artist whose early work earned significant support from The Times, Wonderland, Clash Magazine and BBC 6 Music.

While her earlier releases leaned towards ambient and downtempo territory, Dayla has spent the intervening years evolving both her sound and her artistry. The result is a striking shift in direction — one that embraces a more expansive, experimental and euphoric approach to songwriting.

Born and raised in Paris, Dayla moved to London in the early 2010s to immerse herself in the city’s vibrant music scene. Her early career centred around ensemble-based performances, leading her to prestigious stages including Union Chapel, the Barbican and the Southbank Centre, where she performed alongside acclaimed artists including Imogen Heap and Elena Tonra of Daughter.

Alongside her solo work, Dayla explored the more experimental edges of sound as a core member of NYX Electronic Drone Choir. Working within the collective, she helped create immersive worlds built from voices, electronics and experimental instrumentation, contributing to NYX’s debut album as well as the collaborative project Deep England with Gazelle Twin.

The collective’s work took Dayla around the world, including an opening performance for electronic pioneer Nicolás Jaar at Rewire Festival, appearances at the Centre Pompidou, London Design Festival and London Fashion Week, and a performance with Sigur Rós at BST Hyde Park.

Now, Dayla returns with a renewed sense of purpose. Blurring the boundaries between reality and dreamscape, she brings together nostalgia, experimentation and storytelling to create a sound that feels both deeply personal and unmistakably of its time.

With ‘TV – 90s kid’ setting the tone for this new era, Dayla is back — and this time, she’s here to stay.

Don’t let her out of your sight.
