Vertical is bringing some holiday chaos to audiences this Christmas with Unbearable Christmas, a new family comedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Alex Moffat alongside Julia Stiles, David Cross, Caroline Rhea, Mena Suvari and Emmy Award winner Stephen Root (Widow’s Bay).
The film follows Troy Tipton (Moffat), an out-of-work weatherman whose sole Christmas mission is to reclaim the beloved teddy bear he was forced to pawn for some much-needed holiday cash. Joined by his wife, Becca (Stiles), mother-in-law Dawn (Rhea), and their children, Troy sets off on a road trip from Ohio to Florida in his old news van.
What begins as a simple family mission quickly turns into an extraordinary adventure when the Tiptons discover that the teddy bear is actually a priceless antique once owned by President Theodore Roosevelt — and could be worth millions.
Unbearable Christmas marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Kevin Cate, who co-wrote the screenplay with Blake Sennett. The film is set to debut this holiday season through an exclusive streaming deal that will be announced at a later date.
The supporting cast includes Kennedy Moyer (Task, Roofman), Ben Lewis Doherty (Task, upcoming Focker-in-Law), Sennett (3rd Rock from the Sun, Boy Meets World) and Valyn Hall (The Righteous Gemstones). The movie will also feature a cameo from legendary television weatherman Al Roker.
