Jack Whitehall (Malice), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Oscar-nominated actor Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets) and Golden Globe nominee Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) are set to headline the upcoming romantic comedy Honeymooners.
Directed by Daryl Wein (Something From Tiffany’s), the film will be presented to international buyers by Hanway Films at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM). Described as a humorous, intergenerational tale about second chances and unexpected romance, the project will also see CAA Media Finance handling North American sales. Production will take place under Wein’s Explosive Pictures banner.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Italy during the first quarter of 2027.
The story follows Freddy (Whitehall) and Cleo (Dobrev), a modern London couple who have secretly divorced, believing they are better suited to life as friends. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when Freddy’s parents, Marty (Kinnear) and Julie (MacDowell), along with Cleo’s mother, Rose, surprise the former couple with a dream honeymoon in Italy.
There is just one catch: the entire family is coming along.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of an idyllic vineyard outside Rome, the holiday soon becomes more complicated than anyone anticipated. As buried family secrets come to light, unexpected romantic connections emerge and loyalties are tested, threatening to turn the dream getaway into a holiday no one will forget.
With a star-studded cast and a storyline blending family dynamics, romance and comedy, Honeymooners promises a light-hearted look at love, relationships and the unexpected opportunities that come with second chances.
