Sophie’s Body — the self-described bubble grunge quartet led by Sophie McMinn and featuring Dylan Hughes (drums), Harry Van Der Meer (bass), and Adam Hurt (guitar) — finally their debut album Zero, released independently today. Described as an “accidental concept album,” per the front woman, these songs put sensations of looming unease, uncertainty, and stress into crowd-ready, buzzy, cathartic rock numbers. Like a soon-to-be butterfly, Zero wraps itself up in a tense ball of angst and energy, but once its potential finally cracks through, and all its guts have more room to function easily, then it can get lost in the whirlwind of the open air.

The band have also shared “Socialyte Zero”, the record’s centerpiece that washes away the weight of the world in an energetic alt rock banger. As the front woman and vocalist asserts in the first hook, “No fear, no pain / I’ll put my armor on and shut up the shame.”

“It was the last song I wrote for “Zero”, and it feels like it’s my attempt at pushing the big heavy existential dread off me,” adds McMinn. “There is no fear and no pain when I just embrace it all for what it is.”

On the accompanying visualizer for “Socialyte Zero”, McMinn notes: “The burning house was a pretty literal pull from the lyrics, but it felt fitting.” (“Turn me invisible / Before I burn this apartment down”) After a last-minute Facebook Marketplace score, she continues, “us and Asher Thomas, two bottles of Everclear, and a discount fire extinguisher made a mission for mayhem.”

Continuing to push beyond the sound established on their breakout debut EP, Toronto indie quintet Next Week’s Washing shares “Clear Eyes,” a massive, dreamy, and cinematic new single that brings alternative rock energy together with densely layered shoegaze. Taken from the band’s forthcoming second EP, the track represents their most expansive recording yet, combining walls of textured instrumentation with upfront vocals and a growing confidence in the sound they can distinctly call their own.

“Clear Eyes” was the first song Next Week’s Washing wrote after completing their debut EP. Rather than starting over, the band approached the track as an opportunity to take the foundations they had already established and push them somewhere bigger.

“We wanted to take the sound we had begun to develop with the first six songs and push it forward,” the band explains. “We took a lot more time building layers into the recording, and the result is our biggest (sonically) sounding song yet.”

Third Man Records is proud to announce the eagerly awaited label debut album from The Flaming Lips. The Teardrop Throbs arrives everywhere on Friday, January 22, 2027. Produced by The Flaming Lips, Taylor Johnson, Dave Fridmann, and Scott Booker with additional production by Jon Fridmann and Mike Fridmann,  The Teardrop Throbs is heralded by today’s premiere of the first single, “God Will Control The Werewolves,” available to stream everywhere now.

Sheffield-born, London-based artist Samuel Virgo creates music that refuses to sit comfortably within one genre. Drawing from indie, alternative, hip-hop and post-punk influences, he combines thoughtful songwriting with self-produced soundscapes that feel both intimate and expansive. After spending several years releasing music under the name Svirgo19, Virgo returned under his real name to begin a new creative chapter, building a project that feels more personal, honest and reflective of who he is as both an artist and a person. Inspired by artists including Fontaines D.C., Tyler, The Creator, The 1975, Twenty One Pilots, Steve Lacy, Blood Orange and Dean Blunt, he has developed a sound that values individuality over convention, pairing memorable melodies with lyrics that invite listeners to find their own meaning.

His new EP, Virgo II, completes his album Laughing in the Wilderness, which brings together the new release and last year’s Virgo EP. Across the project, Virgo explores identity, relationships, growing up and personal experience, with each song revealing a different side of his songwriting. The final track, “The Word”, is an indie-alt-hip-hop track heavily inspired by the energy of Master Peace, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys and Monster Florence. Built around Arctic Monkeys-inspired instrumentation, the song explores the weight words can carry and the idea that a single word can change everything. One of the first tracks written for the project, “The Word” brings Virgo II to a close.

The track follows previous singles “Slip Away” and “ICU”, each exploring different themes across the EP. “Slip Away” is a melancholic alternative love song that captures the feeling of losing yourself as you move in and out of love. Virgo explains, “I wanted it to feel intimate with the vocals, guitars and understated production. It’s one of the most vulnerable moments on the project overall.” Meanwhile, “ICU” explores the way narratives are shaped, truths become obscured and perception can be manipulated. “I wrote it about the way the world spins narratives, deceives us and hides the truth from us,” Virgo explains. Musically, the track marks a deliberate shift towards a more direct and repetitive structure, trading sprawling storytelling for a hypnotic, guitar-driven approach. Entirely written, produced and engineered by Virgo himself, the project reflects the freedom of creating without compromise, leaving personal experiences open enough for listeners to connect with in their own way.

With nearly a decade in the rap game under his belt, OMB Peezy has developed into a supremely well-rounded emcee, capable of rapping his ass off and singing his heart out on the same track. The Mobile, AL native takes his art into a self-assured and deeply personal place with Save Yourself, his brand new album. Spanning 15 tracks, the new album showcases Peezy’s veteran perspective, accrued over his years as a working rapper and father, dealing with love and loss, and offering valuable lessons about how to remain resilient amidst compounding hardships. Over a hard-hitting, piano-laden soundscape primarily created by Platinum producer Will-A-Fool, Peezy showcases his expressive vocals, his raw emotion giving power to his soulful lyrics. Along with the album, OMB Peezy shares the video album highlight “Need I Remind You,” out now on Peezy’s YouTube.

Save Yourself is home to Peezy’s standout recent singles, including “What She Wants” and “Save Your Life.” A collaboration with TDE’s Trap Dickey, “What She Wants” is a boss-life banger, featuring production by Chopsquad DJ, who flips TLC’s classic “No Scrubs” for Peezy and Dickey to prance upon. “Save Your Life” is a piano-laden ballad, interpolating The Fray’s “How To Save Your Life” as Peezy emotes atop rippling piano chords and processes his pain. The 15-track album adds new highlights, including the airy and defiant “Language Barrier,” and the confessional “Soul Leaving Out,” in which Peezy says: “Thugs can feel pain and be alone, too.”

Repping both the West and Gulf Coasts, OMB Peezy has been one of the most unique voices in rap since emerging in 2017, mixing his Southern drawl and instinctive melodics with NorCal flows and slang. The 28-year-old artist has released ten solo and collaborative albums, including 2021’s Too Deep For Tears, home to the remix to his GOLD single “Big Homie,” and most recently, Drifting Away, which dropped earlier this year. Peezy got an unexpected boost in late 2024 when his 2017, Drum Dummie-produced breakout hit “Lay Down” went viral on TikTok, generating over 150k video creations and inspiring a dance popular with the youngest generation. The revived success of “Lay Down” inspired a new remix, featuring GloRilla in late 2024. In 2025, Peezy dropped Diary of a Crashout, and its Deluxe, bringing collaborations with YFN Lucci, Anycia, Kocky Ka, Vory, and more. Most recently, Peezy kept the streets hot with BETTER AND BETTER, a motivational 13-track mixtape.

This fall, OMB Peezy launches the “Save Yourself Tour,” hitting seven major markets in November. Tickets for the “Save Yourself Tour” are available HERE

New York City-based indie rock/pop musician and actor Rivkah Reyes shares her bubbly, grungy, unapologetically queer debut EP Fan Favorite out now. Over six audacious, “sapphic doomcore situationship bangers,” as she puts them, Reyes dives headfirst into messy relationships, child stardom and a love letter to her younger self on “Katie,” addiction, self-love and more. With the full indie sleaze-inspired project comes “Loopholes” and its matching walk of shame style music video, shot in one take using a camcorder on a Ridgewood subway.

Tonight, Reyes will celebrate with an EP release show at Brooklyn’s Sultan Room. Next, she’ll perform in Los Angeles at Peppermint Club on November 12 and home in Chicago on November 24 at Empty Bottle. See dates and tickets here.

Reyes is thrilled to finally formally introduce herself with a project that feels most like herself. Produced by Constantine Anastasakis (Anna Shoemaker, Porches), Reyes shares, “‘Fan Favorite’ feels like the truest introduction to who I am as an artist. It’s bratty, vulnerable, feral, and a little self-destructive, but it’s also about finding humor in the ways we embarrass ourselves trying to be loved.”

Known for his silky vocals and indelible hooks, decorated hitmaker Vory is the industry’s go-to for deeply felt relationship dramas. The Houston-based polymath resurfaces this week with “Sin City,” his latest single and music video. Populated by room-enveloping synths and sonorous 808s, “Sin City” is a situationship ballad with a cheeky sense of humor. In the story, Vory travels with his new bae to Las Vegas and is immediately suspicious of her prominence in the city’s social scene: “You know all the DJs in the club/Random n****s givin’ hugs/Even the bouncers, what the f*ck/I’m losing track just keepin’ up/You’re way too known in Sin City,” he croons. A demonstration of his ability to turn relationship drama into R&B gold, “Sin City” paves the way for EROS 3.0 FALLOUT, his next mixtape.

Earlier this year, Vory made waves with DONDADA, his new album, and his first to be released independently by EROS LLC / EMPIRE. A confident 10-track album, DONDADA touches on the privileges and precarities of living like a boss, using immersive sonics to convey a sense of lonely luxury, at once reveling in the wonders riches provide, and worrying about the problems that money brings. The album features guest spots from heavy-hitters like 2 Chainz, Fredo Bang, and Trae Tha Truth, voices that Vory weaves effortlessly into his twisted tapestry. Featuring additional appearances from Domani and Dame Atlas, DONDADA establishes Vory as a singular voice in the game, seamlessly blending R&B vocals with hip-hop attitude and expert songcraft.

Since emerging in the mid-2010s, Vory has helped define the sound of contemporary rap and R&B with his work on the mic and behind the scenes. He scored his first hit at just 18-years-old, with his contribution to fellow Louisville native Bryson Tiller’s now-classic “Don’t,” which racked up billions of streams en route to a Diamond certification. The artist’s distinct pen helped launch further hits, like Drake’s “Mob Ties,” which peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Vory’s talents earned the attention of some of the biggest stars in the game: he earned his first Grammy win for his contribution to Everything Is Love, the Best Urban Contemporary Album-winning project by Jay-Z and Beyoncé as The Carters. In 2020, Vory signed a joint venture with Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers, through which he released his debut studio album, Lost Souls, in 2022. The now 28-year-old polymath became a household name among hip-hop fans when he contributed songwriting and vocals to “God Breathed,” “Jonah,” and “No Child Left Behind” from Kanye West’s Grammy-nominated DONDA album. With additional credits for artists like Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, DaniLeigh, and many more, Vory has racked up 15 Platinum plaques and 4 Gold records on his written works.

Diving into the games lovers play, Broken Moon features seven surreal and buoyant dream-pop tunes that capture the bittersweet illusion of distance and closeness.

Through intricate visuals that weave together surrealism, innocence, and a

touch of darkness, Jasmin Stone invites the viewer into a colorful, whimsical dreamworld infused with nostalgic undertones. Sonically, the EP features vocal notes reminiscent of Lana Del Rey or Goldfrapp, while its mysterious production carries the weight of artists like Air or The Mortal Coil.

Independent singer-songwriter and performance artist Bars will release “Sexting,” the second single from his sophomore album Dirty Troll, on Nov. 6. Due out Winter 2027, the album takes on what most people rarely talk about: sexual fantasy.

“Everybody has desires. Everybody has temptations,” Bars says. “Everyone’s thinking about it, but nobody talks about it.”

Bars calls “Sexting” an updated take on “Why Don’t You Do Right?” — the 1936 song famously performed by Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The jazz-inspired track takes a comedic approach to a touchy subject, playing with the idea that foreplay can be more satisfactory than what comes next.

On Dirty Troll, Bars draws inspiration from the irreverence of Andy Warhol and Pop Art, and finds himself at his most sincere and his most sarcastic. With tongue-in-cheek song titles like “Hot Dawgs,” “Hoe in WeHo” and lead single “Drop a Pin,” Bars uses wordplay to talk about the taboo.

“People today look at sex as offensive, or something that we shouldn’t talk about. But once you put it out there and talk about it, you see it’s not that bad,” Bars says.

Electro-industrial music mavericks Alien Faktor return with ‘Hanging by a Threat’, a hard-hitting rage-fuelled anthem, attacking the news of the day with both emotion and insight.  Channeling political disillusionment into a defiant call to resist hatred, intolerance and fascism, this is the first single from ‘Stockholm Syndrome’, the band’s first new album in 28 years.

Band founder Thomas L. Muschitz returned from a lenghty hiatus to confront the issues of the day and shout truth to the world, that something is very wrong here. Heavy guitar accentuates bombastic percussion and stomp worthy synth programming, accentuated by samples of revolution.

Founded in Milwaukee in the early 1990s by Thomas L. Muschitz, Alien Faktor developed a distinctive sound that blends industrial noise, electronic dance rhythms, soundtrack influences, and elements of metal. Following a run of releases on Muschitz’s own Decibel Records and a Top 25 placement on CMJ’s Dance Chart, Alien Faktor went on hiatus at the end of the 1990s.

Now based in Madison, Wisconsin and reunited with bandmate Mike Hunsberger on guitar and programming, the duo has re-emerged with new material capturing the zeitgeist of our modern society. In late 2025, inspired by his work in film and audio production, and disgusted with the state of the world, Thomas Muschitz began writing the first of many songs for their first album in almost 30 years.

Those sessions laid the creative groundwork for ‘Stockholm Syndrome’, ushering in a new chapter, retaining the project’s foundations while directing its creative energy toward the present. ‘Hanging By A Threat’ transforms political despair into a musical act of defiance. Its message is direct: kindness is strength, violence is weakness, compassion is art, and hate is disease.

“I have felt sickened at the state of my nation, and to a larger extent, many of the same issues that seem to be infecting the world at large. Turning despair into anger, and clinging to the vestiges of hope, I did the one thing that i have always done. Create art. It was time to return, to raise my voice and speak loudly,” says Thomas L. Muschitz.

New York City band Trinket, the project of Madison Kate Proffitt and Sean Camargo, are excited to announce their signing to Brooklyn-based indie label, Take Care Records. New single “If Not Soon Then Now” heralds the announcement, layering heavy guitars amongst their pop sensibilities. Embracing their signature sweet sound, sticky melodies reverberate long after the song ends, insulated by a blanket of fuzz. The official music video arrives alongside the track, driving the song’s sense of whimsy with play-pretend and paper-made absurdities.

“This song is very directly about starting a relationship with someone new; it’s exciting, but you quickly realize that insecurities, fears, and things you’ve dealt with in past relationships don’t go away just because you’ve started over,” the band explains. “It’s also about having something that you’re excited about and are scared you’re going to ruin it with those insecurities. It’s almost like just the fear of it makes your worries come true.”

NYC art-rockers Ecce Shnak are excited to announce their upcoming album, Dandy Variances, arriving on March 12, 2026 via Records, Man Records. A euphoric, yet razor-sharp new track heralds the announcement – listen to “Own’d Thyself” now.

“I wrote it about somebody like Tucker Carlson, who has a lot of pompousness and self-assuredness about his worldview and about his bigotry and his sense of entitlement,” singer, composer and bassist David Roush says. “Most of those people don’t recognize the reality of climate chaos or a slew of other horrible things our system is causing. But he might have some visceral sense that something is wrong, and his idiotic worldview is a big cause of that.”

Putting on your radar, Brooklyn-based trip-hop duo, CONCUSSA that combines cinematic production, brooding trip-hop textures, and songwriting that moves between pop immediacy and heavier sonic experimentation.  Comprised of  Luke Lotardo and Caroline Jamison, CONCUSSA draws inspiration  from Portishead, Massive Attack, Sade, and Radiohead.  Since June 2026, CONCUSSA has released three singles: “miley’s mood (you’re too real for me),” “headlights in fog,” and “hex girl,” a trip-hop reinterpretation of the Hex Girls song from Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost.

CONCUSSA’s forthcoming “tabula rasa” marks a new direction for the pair, fusing their atmospheric sensibility with more forceful, hard rock arrangements. The single arrives November 6 with an accompanying VHS-style video filmed at the iconic metal bar Lucky 13 Saloon, dropping  November 13.

New York–based alternative singer-songwriter Lauren Minear shares “Autumn Leaves,” a nostalgic and hopeful new single that wrestles with the choices that shape a life and the paths we leave unexplored. Written from the perspective of a mother wondering whether she sacrificed her chance at a music career to raise a family, the song transforms that uncertainty into something warmer and more accepting, finding meaning not in the life that might have been, but in the one unfolding directly in front of her.

The song was sparked after Lauren heard Kelsea Ballerini’s “I Sit In Parks,” which explores the desire to have children alongside ambivalence about a successful music career. Lauren immediately recognized herself on the opposite side of that equation: someone deeply driven toward music who had sometimes wondered about choosing motherhood over pursuing that ambition more fully.

It was November, and as she watched the leaves falling from the trees, the passing season became inseparable from the feeling that perhaps her opportunity had passed with it. She sat down to write, and “Autumn Leaves” emerged.

Tokyo-based noise artist Yuko Araki announces V, the sixth installment in her numbered album series, out January 22 via American Dreams. “I have always been interested in the idea that noise can become more musical,” says Araki. On V, that idea takes shape in high-wire coruscations of noise, with compositions that carve out space between club music, post-industrial electronics, and extreme music. Araki draws on years spent immersed in the city’s noise and extreme music scenes, channeling their rawness into tightly constructed, rhythmically charged compositions. “With V, I feel I’ve pushed this tension between noise and structure further than before. I think of it as a noise album, but I’m interested to see how different listeners interpret and experience it.”

Lead single “Decoded Void” emerged from ideas Araki developed while supporting SUMAC in Tokyo in 2025, bringing her affinity for heavy, abrasive sounds to the fore. “I’ve always been drawn to heavy, abrasive sounds, and I think that side of my taste comes through particularly clearly here. I feel like I managed to bring those elements together in a way that feels right to me.” The track arrives alongside a music video by Jackson Kaki, a longtime collaborator on Araki’s previous projects and live performances. Drawing on references from Japanese art and literature, Kaki’s dark 3DCG animation builds a distinct visual world around the track.
