Swedish EDM artist and DJ Avicii has returned to the music scene with a vibing new track called “Lonely Together” in which he teams up with the beautiful Rita Ora. The song appears on a forthcoming new 5 track EP called “AVICI” which is his first works since announcing he was retiring from performing live. The EP features collaborations with AlunaGeorge (“What Would I Change It To”), Billy Raffoul (“You Be Love”) and Vargas & Lagola (“Friend Of Mine”), as well as Sandro Cavazza, who contributed vocals to the release’s first single “Without You”. “Lonely Together” sees the Swedish producer stepping away from the usual EDM tracks were used to hearing from him instead were given a track that drifts somewhere between EDM and pop. The single has since gone number 1 in three countries including the UK where it has also scored it’s self certified silver by selling 200,000 units.
Momentum won’t stop there for Avicii though he is set to release a documentary next month which will be an in depth exploration of his career. The documentary will feature some big name artists including Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers, David Guetta and Wyclef Jean to name a few. The video for “Lonely Together” finds Rita emoting in a hallway while a couple runs riot in a frozen world. They take selfies with patrons at a bar, make their way through a street carnival and then splash paint over each other while having sex. Director Levan Tsikurishvilli spoke about the video he created for the song saying “It was such a big honor to create this beautiful piece for Avicii and Rita Ora. What I would do if I could freeze the world — imagine one day if you really could do that, what would you do?”
“Lonely Together” is out now.
Feeling stressed? Well we have the solution with the most chilled song I’ve heard this year. Jhene Aiko teamed up with boyfriend rapper Big Sean for the new single “Moments” taken from Aiko’s brand new solo album “Trip”. The song itself is a tribute to getting “caught in the moment” with someone special. Last year, Aiko and Big Sean teamed up for an entire LP together, “Twenty88”, turning experiences of their real-life relationship into fresh new music.
Although this track is about their “Moments” the album “Trip” is actually more of a personal focus for Aiko who reflects on her grief after losing her brother to an inoperable brain tumor in 2012. In addition to the new album, she announced a short film and poetry book that’ll detail her personal journey. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine Aiko opened up about the projects saying “I’ve always loved acting and theater and the art of writing, so I was revisiting my notebooks and decided to start writing a short film, writing was a form of therapy, so all of these things became part of what I was going through.”
He used to one fourth of a popular US boyband NLT and now who I think has probably the best male voice in the industry right releases his brand new single “Curvin’ Everybody” taken from a new forthcoming project. Since his departure from NLT he has released 4 EPs and 1 full album. He has also sung and done music on Dancing With The Stars, not to mention his ever popular YouTube video’s which he does a bunch of covers of some of your favorite artists songs. The new single “Curvin’ Everybody” basically has Garland saying he’s curvin’ every girl for his love interest.
Normally in the past we were used to a more pop / hip hop vibe from Garland but as of late we’ve been introduced to a more dark sultry, seductive sound that Garland has strongly embraced. Garland took to twitter to highly promote the single which will be followed by an LP soon after. “Curvin’ Everybody” is out now on ITunes and TIDAL.

Rap star Will Smith is finally back! But don’t get to excited just yet because hip hop Will has vanished on his latest single and in steps an EDM version of the star on a new single called “Get Lit”. The song was debuted by long time friend DJ Jazzy Jeff at the LiveWire Music Festival back in August, and now a full version of the song is available on all major platforms. Smith who spent many years as the rap artist The Fresh Prince starts off on this record with chants, before singing to an EDM infused beat whilst the hold time holding a foreign accent. Don’t worry Fresh Prince fans were as confused as you.
Longtime supporters of the former rapper are excited to see him return to the music scene, and are hoping for more new material to come hopefully more into the genre he began in. Many are wondering if he will be dropping some authentic rap tracks that reflect some of the skills that helped him rise to fame in the 90s, as well himself and DJ Jazzy Jeff are also still planning on a world tour sometime in the near future. “Get Lit” is the actor/musician’s first musical release since 2005’s “Lost and Found”. For now, there is no word whether this will appear on a new album or if this is just a one off release. But Smith did disclose recently in an interview he does have roughly around 30 new song recorded so we can only assume sometime very soon an LP will drop. If this is the beginning of Smith’s long awaited comeback he’s going about it all in the wrong way. “Get Lit” is available now.
The 1975 are back…well sort of. The band released this week a previously hidden track which initially made it’s debut back in 2012. Without a proper announcement or promotion The 1975 re-released the song “Milk”. The newly dropped “Milk” is a remastered version of the track that has been hidden in their song “You.” “Milk” made its debut on the band’s “Sex EP” which was released in 2012, hidden in the track “You” and then again re-released on the deluxe version of their self titled album back in 2013. The artwork for “Milk” released this week features the 1975’s clean, white back drop that they’ve used to represent their newest project “Music For Cars”.
The 1975 originally announced back in April via twitter that added to the confusion that they were due to release a new album called “Music For Cars”. The strange thing about that is they already have an EP called “Music For Cars” which came out in 2013. So what does this mean? Well can we expect just old songs remastered or can we even hear a greatest hits album on the way. As we anxiously wait for more news, you can still appreciate “Milk” for a good stand alone song.
One artist I am happy to see return after a long long time away from the spotlight is Leah Haywood. She teams up with German Folk House producer Bunt on the single “On My Way”. Leah hit it big time back in the 90’s on her debut album, teaming up with Swedish Pop Production juggernaut Cheiron Studio’s who at the time were responsible for some of the biggest pop hits of the 90’s for Britney Spears, NSYNC and Backstreetboys. From there she has been recently working behind the scenes as a writer/producer for her company DreamLab that has made hits for some big artists including recently for Fifth Harmony.
This new effort “On My Way” is almost a replicated Avicii hit, the sound is a cheery, celebratory, rustic and has a combination of harmonicas, banjos, guitars, organs, strings, horns, and more attached to a dance backbone. It’s almost a mixture of One Republic and Avicii and Bunt is receiving looks from the industry’s finest on their new single. One major reason for my promotion of this single is I am not only a fan of Leah Haywood’s work but she’s from my home city of Perth, Western Australia. The single opens with a throbbing bass guitar to introduce Leah’s jolting vocal, the German producer allow her to guide the track’s mood before ramping up the energy. This single has definitely put Bunt on the map as the next dance EDM producer as the one to watch and put Leah Haywood on our radar as a hopeful return to music as a singer…..we hope.
Continuing with the EDM dance vibe, Sabrina Carpenter has teamed up with with duo Lost Kings for the Cherry-lipped kissed, Late-night whispered EDM pop single “First Love”. The new track is a glistening dance track that skips between thick R&B and chewy dance-pop. Lost Kings shared their praise working with Carpenter in the music video for the single saying “We had such a great time with Sabrina…so we really wanted to capture that energy and have it translate in the video. The feeling of falling in love for the first time is so raw and it’s something that everyone can relate to, so we also wanted the video to have that feeling, as well.”
The music video transitions between a confetti-fueled midnight rave and Carpenter’s sultry glances towards the camera. “We ran around Brooklyn for the day leading up to the first time we ever performed the song live at Electric Zoo with an incredible crowd,” Carpenter told popcrush.com “The video is visually beautiful and the spirit is young, just like [your] first love is meant to make you feel.” Lost Kings have made a name for themselves working with the likes of Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke, ASAP Ferg, and Tinashe to name a few. As for 18 year old Sabrina Carpenter, she surpassed 40 million Spotify streams since the release of her debut single “Why” which came out July 7th. “First Love” is available now.
