Lauv & Julia Michaels Team Up For “There’s No Way”

They don’t have any romantic history with each other, but songwriters Lauv and Julia Michaels are the perfect pair to tell the story of going through complicated relationships with the new song “There’s No Way”. Michaels said the song is “about wanting to be with someone, but sometimes the timing is wrong”, something myself and everyone else out there has probably experienced. The video for the song centers around this exact scenario, with Lauv and Michaels playing band mates on tour who share an array of intimate moments and glances. This happens as they prepare for an on stage performance. After the show, Lauv and Michaels seemed destined to finally kiss, but the moment is interrupted when their partners arrive and usher them away from each other.

Rising pop phenomenon Lauv spoke about what it was like writing “There’s No Way” with Julia Michaels; “The first time we met we didn’t even write a song, we just talked about life and emo bands and stuff. A few days later me, her, Justin Tranter and Ian Kirkpatrick got into the room and wrote ‘There’s No Way.’ For me the song is about meeting someone and immediately feeling that connection where you can’t help but have crazy chemistry, and though your lives don’t quite line up in that moment, you know someday everything could go down between you two.”

If there’s one thing Lauv is impeccable at doing, it’s writing meaningful and relatable songs for his fans. It’s hard to come by this day and age, but it’s good to see Lauv and Michaels doing what they do best. “There’s No Way” is out now.
