Exclusive Interview: Devin Kennedy Returns With The New Single ‘Feel The Same’

We’ve featured Devin Kennedy before on OLC! when he dropped his smash hit song “Bad Habit”. Now the rising pop star is back with a hot new track called “Feel The Same”.

“Feel The Same” is a soulful, and upbeat track about the importance of having someone by your side through the good times. The pop/urban influenced track is driven by guitars and soulful vocals. Devin showcases his vocal versatility, displaying both his swooping falsetto and his smooth harmonies. We got a chance to speak to Devin on what he’s been up to since we last chatted, and of course also on the infectious new single “Feel The Same”.

1.) What have you been up to since we last spoke to you on OLC!?

– It’s been a busy couple months! I’ve been writing a whole lot for myself and for others. Playing some shows in LA and in Arizona, and gearing up to release new music!

2.) Tell us about the new song “Feel The Same”? Was it written about any particular person or situation?

– I tend to write about myself and about the people around me. I love analyzing how we all perceive, receive and give love. It happens in so many different ways. This song is not about any particular situation, but it’s about something that I’ve wanted to address for a long time: success carries significantly less weight in my life if I have no one to share it with. It just doesn’t feel the same 🙂

3.) Were you the only one behind the creative process of this song?

– Nope. One of my closest collaborators Anthony Reeder and I wrote the song in one day earlier this year. We love nerding out over production and such, we had such a great time writing this one.

4.) Is this single going to pave the way for an EP release sometime soon?

-Stay tuned on that. Lot’s of music coming early 2019.

5.) I read you were awarded “Best New Emerging Artist” by Hollywood Music and Media, How did that feel?

– Incredible. Encouraging. Humbling. Very excited to play the award show this month!

6.) The lyric video for “Feel The Same” is out, can you give us any inside info what we can expect for the official music video?

– We’re going back and forth on video concepts right now. You can definitely expect something bright and fun.

7.) Do you have anything you’d like to say or share with your loyal fans?

-Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I can’t wait to come play some shows for all of you soon.
