INsiders Guide: Close Talker, Charlotte Cornfield, R E L, Stardragon and Random Order

Canadian rock trio Close Talker are thrilled to release their new single, “Half Past Nine”. It has been since 2017 since the band has released music. The band describes the song as, “A concert is a place where you can find people from every walk of life come together for the same reason. It’s a place where you share something in common with complete strangers and a place where you can experience something transcendent with people you will never even know. ‘Half Past Nine’ is about a concert the three of us attended, at our favorite summer festival. It’s about looking around at friends, at strangers, and seeing each person sing along to words that mean so much to them – words that have carried them through times only they know about. Its about holding on to the moments that you never want to end, and then desperately trying to remember them after they are gone. It takes hindsight to recognize when something profound has happened, but every now and then, you’re able to sense it right in the moment. This song is about those moments and the attempts to cling to them.”

Such an incredible song from an up and coming incredible band. Be sure to check them out.

StarDragon is the new musical brainchild of producers Joseph E. Shine and Dror Mohar. Based in LA the two musical minds collided to form StarDragon. Stardragon – multi-Instrumentalist, writer and producer Eshine is known for his work with Ninet Tayeb, Kirsten Maldonado and acclaimed Israeli group Ha Dag Nahash, earning him five gold records along the way. Dror Mohar is an Award winning sound designer, mixer and singer with a film credits such as Quentin Tarantion’s Django, Alejandro G Inarritu’s Revenant and Peter Berg’s Long Survivor and musical acts like Patti Smith, John Legend, and Ryan Adam. The L.A. formed in early 2018 after collaborating on various musical projects and are set to release music all through 2019. “In The Middle” is there hot new single that’s certified these guys as the ones to watch.

Charlotte Cornfield returns stronger then ever with her brand new song “Storm Clouds”. We’ve featured the rising artist on “The Guide” before, and like always she continues to impress us. On the song Charlotte says; “This song was the catalyst for everything else. It was the first thing I recorded in Banff, a few days after arriving. I had been carrying around the “storm clouds, elation, desire, mania, darkness” refrain for a long time – it’s a personal meditation. But I have this habit of not finishing songs until I have to, so it took being in the studio to pull it all together. I couldn’t figure out how to end it and then Brendan Canning suggested bringing back the refrain and that just felt right.”

Los Angeles evocapop artist R E L is back with the stunning release entitled Back To The River”.

I wrote “Back to the River” the day after a breakup – my first real heartbreak. I had a session scheduled with Miles Cole, a producer I’d worked with on one song before, and decided not to cancel it, but to channel what I was feeling into music. We made this song that day. It’s a part of Side A, the first piece of my visual album, EVOCAPOP. The song is about wishing you could go back to something you’ve lost touch with, feeling the cold of loss. Realizing highs & lows that come with growing up or apart, highs & lows of coping mechanisms too.

I wrote “Masquerade” while I was in college, and surrounded by the greek system. There’s a lot of peer pressure involved in the social scene. It’s easy to get sucked into things because they seem cool or your friends are doing it, and I watched people I know putting on “masks” – changing who they were to meet some criteria of “cool” or for some status they sought. It happens in music too – someone abandons their friends in pursuit of fame, and ends up losing himself or herself in the process. I’m sure we’ve all struggled with identity – putting on masks to fit into a certain mold and then finding ourself confused as to how we got so off balanced and isolated. I mean it’s a part of the human condition in a social world. “Masquerade” is about checking in with yourself – remembering who you are and where you’ve been so you don’t “get stuck in this masquerade”. Look at it as a cautionary tale if you will

Breath taking sound, with captivating lyrics and a stunning voice to match. This song should be on everyone’s playlist.

“From reciting books of the bible in a cult to headlining pride festivals I decided to hit the stage to counter the tide of anti-lgbtq+ sentiment. I wanted to share a #bewhoyouare #noshame attitude. Last August I put together a quick arrangement of this track to perform for Hamburg Pride Festival. Every person in the theater reacted ecstatically, clapping and dancing. This encouraged me to take it back to the studio to create my version of “Shame Shame Shame.” -Random Order

Random Order is a fast rising vocalist and songwriter and producer who is well known for bringing a unique, and signature sound. The pop artist has a unique sound that is taking the indie world by storm, and showcases it on the new single “Shame Shame Shame”. This latest offering is a modern take on dance-able disco that offers a catchy guitar riff with modern-day electronic elements. On the song Random Order continued to say; “I want “Shame Shame Shame” to remind you that you can really let loose and have fun, no matter who you are and celebrate with zero shame. A victorious and glorious existence whether you are gay straight, bi, trans, non-binary or simply just draw outside the lines”.
