Travis Scott Releases ‘Wake Up’ While Rence Unveils The New Video For “Expensive” featuring Noah Cyrus

Travis Scott has released the music video for his ASTROWORLD track “WAKE UP” (featuring the Weeknd). The black and white clip is directed by Jonah Hill. It finds Travis floating through a mansion after a party. This year, Jonah Hill directed Vampire Weekend’s “Sunflower” music video. He also appeared in the band’s “Harmony Hill” clip. Back in 2017, Hill directed Danny Brown’s “Ain’t It Funny” video.

ASTROWORLD came out in August 2018.

Buzzing genre disruptor Rence reveals the music video for his tastemaker-approved new single “Expensive” [feat. Noah Cyrus].

The cinematic clip serves as a fitting visual companion to the song. Pacing nervously, Rence sings solo to a snowy old school television set in a quiet motel room. Cyrus occupies the adjacent dwelling just beyond a thin wall. Impressive and highly kinetic dance moves follow as the duo finally unite before a live wolf walks into the frame…

The video’s bold unpredictability mirrors the song’s genre-less spirit and spark. As it nears 2 million streams on Spotify, “Expensive” continues to receive critical acclaim as well. Idolatorpegged it as a “Future Hit,” and i-D included it on “The Best of New Music Friday.” Meanwhile, Paper named it among, “Bops Only: 10 Songs You Need to Start Your Weekend Right.”

The summer remains red hot for Rence. Last night, he performed a sold-out New York show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn. Right now, he’s hard at work on his forthcoming EP.

Sharing real life snapshots in song, Rence magnifies his personal perspective through a genre-less palette, bordering pop, alternative, electro, indie and hip-hop all at once, yet never dipping into one for too long. The Brooklyn-based artist, who was born in D.C. and spent his formative teen years in Seattle, first allowed listeners to hear this irresistible inner monologue on his breakthrough independent project, Pink. The project’s lead single “Baby Blue” racked up over 3 million Spotify streams as his total tally approached 7 million. Along the way, peers such as Chelsea Cutler and FLETCHER lent support as critical acclaim came from Hilly Dilly, Lyrical Lemonade, Ones To Watch, Elevator Magazine, and more. Tastemaker Zane Lowe handpicked “Ways To Go” as his “World Record” on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
