Artist of the Week!

INsiders Guide ‘Artist Of The Week’: Pop Songstress KIITA

On the heels of glowing acclaim from The FADERClash, and more, buzzing 17-year-old Columbus, OH alternative pop songstress KIITA unleashes her new EP, BAYARD THE BLOODHOUND.

The opener and first single “Thinking About You” illuminates the depth of her dynamic style with its fusion of ethereal guitars, thick drums, and glitchy production. Plunging into this lovestruck dreamscape, she assures, “If you want to break down right here, I don’t mind. It’s alright,” before promising, “You’ll be thinking about what I’m thinking about you now. Elsewhere, her delivery barely inches above a whisper on the cavernous “Love Lakes” as she asks, “Lost in a fairytale, but where the fuck did you go?”  The three-track trip culminates on the majestically magical and manic “Straight 2 Hell” where she wishes an ex would “talk to the devil and say you’re sorry for the things you did.

KIITA quietly cultivated her own wonderland out of the Midwest. Inspired by everyone from Ozzy Osbourne and Nirvana to Madonna and Selena Gomez, she started to upload early compositions to Soundcloud and Instagram at just 15-years-old. Utilizing music as a portal to purge dark thoughts, she tapped into unbridled emotion via powerhouse vocals above off-kilter production. She caught the attention of Young Forever Founder Chris Anokute who immediately signed her in 2019. Dropping the Let’s Commit A Robbery EP and ANTHEMOESSA EP, the artist attracted widespread acclaim right out of the gate. Drumming up early buzz, The FADER urged, “Listen to KIITA’s perfect pop now so you can feel smart when she’s famous, and CLASH wrote, KIITA is still only 16 years old yet she tackles her art with the honesty of songwriters twice her age. The Interns summed it up best, “She has the chops to go big.

Named after a character in Alice in Wonderland, her 2020 EP BAYARD THE BLOODHOUND welcomes everyone into her world now.
