Seven long years after the heavily criticized series finale of “How I Met your Mother“, we have word that Hulu is developing a spin-off sequel called “How I Met Your Father” with actress Hillary Duff attached to the project.

It has also been announced that “This is Us” creators Isac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will helm this upcoming sequel and have been given the “straight-to-series” green light. This producer/writer pair are also known for their work on the comedy-drama film “Love, Simon.” This isn’t the first time Aptaker and Berger have been attached to this sequel, as they previously attempted to bring up this new pitch to 20th Century Fox but seemed to abandon it after dealing with different projects. The original show creators of How I Met Your Mother Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will return to the show with some sort of executive producer overseeing role.

Hillary Duff, 33, is well recognized for her early role as “Lizzie McGuire” in the self-title American comedy Disney tv show and also for early music days. She was previously attached to the Lizzie McGuire revival for the then new Disney+ platform but that seems to self-combust after some internal creative differences.
This new depiction with a female lead will be interesting to say the least but it will have some major shoes to fill with the previous beloved cast members, classic scenes and quotes that are still in the heart of beloved fans of all ages.
