Katy Perry and Alesso have released a new single right in time for the New Year called “When I’m Gone.” It’s a electro-pop dance track that marks the first collaboration between the DJ and pop star. “When I’m Gone” is the second single Perry’s released this year, following “Electric,” which dropped in May as part of the Pokémon 25 soundtrack. Perry and Alesso spoke with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on Wednesday about the new song, with Perry telling Lowe that Alesso came to her with the track nearly a year and a half ago.
Announcing ‘When I’m Gone’, Perry said: “Don’t worry y’all, you’ll still be able to #PLAY along with me on December 29, because #WHENIMGONE with @alesso will be coming,” seemingly directing her message at those who can’t make her Las Vegas residency.
