‘Hidden Canyons’ Kicks Off Its Second Season

Award-winning dramatic series HIDDEN CANYONS returns for its second provocative and thought-provoking season. Featuring 45 episodes dropping every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, this unique social-media-meets-soap-opera experience explores the cutting edge relationship, social, and economic issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community. HIDDEN CANYONS makes history as Instagram and TikTok’s first one-minute micro-series to explore the LGBTQ+ space with honesty and creativity. The show has found a way to revolutionize the way people consume narrative content while supporting the voices of the LGBTQ+ community. You can watch it on all social platforms like TikTokInstagram, and on their official website today!

“Season One was an experiment; we weren’t sure anyone would watch a one-minute series on social media. Now that we’ve seen it work, Season Two is where the series really comes into its own. We move into deeper studies of relationships and pressing issues in the LGBTQ+ community. The storylines came straight from conversations we had with Season 1 viewers through thousands of comments and messages — that’s what’s so special about this season. In many ways it’s a direct collaboration with audiences.” — Brant Rotnem, Creator

The second season is a follow-up from the binge-able first season, which won “Best Episodic” audience award at the Outfest Los Angeles 2020 Awards and garnered over 3.5M views on TikTok. The original 26 episodes unfold over the course of a single evening; the second season takes place throughout the following morning. Through 45 bite-sized episodes, the LGBTQ+ residents of Hidden Canyons face the fallout from the prior night and new challenges and adventures, all with the series’ signature twists and cliffhangers.

Starring Sufe Bradshaw (VEEP’s Sue Wilson), Daytime-Emmy-nominee Sean Samuels (GIANTS the Series), Tonatiuh (VIDA’s Marcos Zamora), Jeremy Glazer (Rust Creek, Modern Family, 9-1-1), Sachin Bhatt (Queer as Folk), Quei Tann (Dear White People), Brant Rotnem (13 Reasons Why), Jackson Davis (VIDA, NCIS), Jamie Renee Smith (Weeds, True Blood), Sean-James Murphy (Danger 5, Neighbors), Mandahla Rose (BIFL), and Tiktok sensation Zaya Perysian, each 1-minute long episode will focus on the relationships, mental health, and various LGBTQ+ and POC hardships within this group of individuals. Quei Tann, who plays high-school swim team captain Cheyenne, first appears in Episode 2.16 where she meets with her head coach to discuss her involvement at the swim team’s next meet. At first, it seems she’s being benched due to discrimination by the cis-hetero parent of her competitor due to her trans identity. This intersectionality between race, gender, and community identity happens every day but is often not discussed. Other big themes include polyamorous relationships, monogamy, and modern LGBTQ+ family dynamics, showcased throughout the storylines involving Denise, Violet, Harrison, Colby, Trent, and Troy. These are all themes that are very prevalent throughout the modern-day LGBTQ+ community that HIDDEN CANYONS sheds light on and paves the way for future shows of its kind.

HIDDEN CANYONS is written, produced, and directed by creator Brant Rotnem, with Fawzia Mirza and Nava Mau serving as co-Directors on the project. Jeremy Glazer, Cherie Rice, Lysa Nevarrez, Phil Lott, Darren Kane, and Chris Hanada serve as producers. The HIDDEN CANYONS series comes from Ample Entertainment.
