INsiders Guide: Quavo x Takeoff, Leon Thomas, Malachiii, Cade Hoppe, Julian Rose, ST. LOUIS, JoyCut, Palmaria, Shobsy, Aibai, Cassie Marin….

Over the years, Quavo and Takeoff have gone wild once or twice. However, they go wilder than ever on their new single and music video “Hotel Lobby”—available today via Quality Control Music Group/Motown Records.  Quavo and Takeoff reveal a woozy and wobbly banger on a whole different level..

Listen to “Hotel Lobby” HERE and watch the music video for “Hotel Lobby” HERE.

The airy cinematic production and ominous beat set the tone as Quavo and Takeoff trade one intoxicating bar after another. Co-directed by Keemotion and Quavo, the music video serves as an insane homage to the cult classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas directed by Terry Gilliam and co-starring Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. In the clip, Quavo and Takeoff assume the roles of Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo cruising through the desert with a “mobile pharmacy” before pulling up to a Las Vegas hotel and barely passing the doors to check in. All kinds of psychedelic, tripped-out trap madness follows as they deliver the South’s first proper hip-hop homage to the late Hunter S. Thompson. It’s unlike anything either of these two multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstars have done either solo or as part of Migos!

Entering what promises to be a massive era, GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Leon Thomas unveils a new single and music video entitled “X-Rated” [feat. Benny The Butcher] today. Listen to it HERE, and watch the music video HERE.

The single marks Leon’s debut music under multiplatinum artist, singer, songwriter, producer Ty Dolla $ign’s newly inked EZMNY Records, a joint label venture with Motown RecordsTy shares his excitement, stating, “Leon’s talent was just a higher level from every other singer or producer that I was hearing, and the fact that he was doing everything himself from playing bass to working Logic and Pro Tools. From the first song I heard, I knew he was one of them ones.”

Elevating music to another stratosphere altogether, rising singer, songwriter, producer, and artist-to-watch Malachiii presents his debut EP, The Ascension, today via Motown Records. Listen to it HERE.

The Ascension highlights Malachiii’s artful approach as a future-facing curator, alchemizing vibes and styles into a multi-dimensional pop, hip-hop and R&B sound of his own design. Anchored by his production skills, the project boasts fan favorites including the vibey track I’m Back, the powerful anthem Hold Me,” as well as the melodic “Free My Soul,” which Euphoria raved as “an upbeat listen with a mellow undertone, morphing multiple genres into one sound. The EP fittingly closes with “Back When We Were Kids, a nostalgic track featuring guitar riffs that seesaw back and forth between emotionally charged verses.

Speaking on his debut EP, Malachiii shares, “The Ascension is my true introduction to the world. This project is so important to me because it’s just the tip of the iceberg. The listener will get a chance to see different sides of me musically, while reflecting on my journey with “ascension” in all things in my life.”

New York-based indie-pop singer and songwriter Cade Hoppe returns with his sophomore EP, ‘Everything That’s Wrong with You.’

On the heels of his 2021 debut EP, ‘Tell Me How It’s Worth It,’ ‘Everything That’s Wrong with You’ is a five song collection that fully documents Cade’s growing confidence as both a songwriter and artist. The EP includes his 2022 singles, “Hurts” and “Morphine,” as well as 3 brand new songs, all of which he produced with Harper James. Ahead of the release, the titular track – “Everything That’s Wrong with You” – has been making waves on TikTok and Instagram Reels after Cade posted a clip earlier this month. With over 4.8 million views and counting, it’s clear that he has found his sound and his audience. The official music video for “Everything That’s Wrong with You” is also out today.

Elaborating on the EP as a whole, Cade says: “’Everything That’s Wrong with You’ is about finding yourself, and choosing the version of you that makes you happiest over the version of you that pleases others. It might feel like the world is ending when the people that are supposed to love you unconditionally don’t approve of who you’re becoming, but then again, I think that says a lot more about them than it does about you.”

Los Angeles-based artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Julian Rose makes his introduction with the release of his debut EP, ‘How Deep.’

Born into an entertainment dynasty — his parents both work in music video production and his late grandfather, Jerry Heller, was an instrumental figure in the rise of West Coast rap — and raised in Beverly Hills, Julian Rose (née Heller) has been immersed in the music industry from a young age. He started playing piano at the age of five and within a few years he had mastered guitar, bass and drums as well. As he got older, he was helping out in production offices and attending video sets after school. With a genuine curiosity and a love of connecting with other people, Julian was able to meet and talk to many artists throughout his youth who inspired him to keep going with his music and creative endeavors.

The Julian Rose project has been a lifetime in the making but, over the last few years, it also became Julian’s lifeline. “I was feeling very unhappy and felt like the future was hopeless. I was stuck in the monotony of life,” he says about the moment he felt he needed to throw himself into making music full time. “However, I always knew that music was the one thing that had been there for meSo, instead of relying on other people, I decided to rely on the thing that carried me through all the ups and downs of my childhood.”

Hitting the ground running, Liverpool based newcomer St. Louis emerges with the magnetic new single “Debut”.

A moody concoction of jazz, R&B and dark edged pop, the tortured grandeur of “Debut” boasts the rhythmic modernity of a club banger, whilst keeping the sophisticated influence of his musical mind at its core. Layering sumptuous harmonies with his own impeccable vocal agility, the decadent track croons the tragic infatuation of a man falling blindly in love for a woman on stage – a tale of obsession and lust, the hook-laden release tackles an age-old plight with the effortless coolness of St. Louis.

Accompanied by a self-produced music video, collaborating with director Andy James Taylor, Louis’ charisma as an artist and performer shines. Calling back to the ritualistic bewitchment of the lyrics, the entrancing video taps into the inner most desires at the heart of the track, as red soaked scenes ominously forebode his beautiful and dark narrative the doomed infatuation unfolds.

Developing and crafting his own unique sound over the years, St. Louis continues to secure his position as a rising name, garnering co-signs from BBC INTRODUCING and a slot supporting breakout British artist Sam Tompkins on his sold-out UK tour. As well as being an artist in his own right, St. Louis continues to enjoy a career as an in-demand hitmaker, songwriting and producing for the likes of K-pop boyband BtoB’s 2021 hit “Outsider”, Ava Max, David Guetta, Karen Harding and Stealth. Most recently, St. Louis has seen a major rise in US popularity following his work on Enisa’s hit “Green Light”, performed by her at the American Song Contest 2022, representing the state of New York.

Palmaria are an Alt Pop duo from a small town in Italy, currently residing in London. Members Giulia and Francesco transport listeners on a journey of dreamy landscapes and uplifting experiences. Think The xx meet Sylvan Esso meet Little Dragon on a field trip to the Italian coast.

Their latest single “Ultraviolet” was co-written and produced with producer duo B-CROMA. The tune sees the duo experimenting with a new approach, recording and sampling Giulia’s vocals and Francesco’s guitars to create a beat on which then builds the song. They share, “More than ever, we wanted to create a unique atmosphere and sound.”

“Ultraviolet” is about vulnerability, accepting and embracing our flaws and limits. Emphasising the importance of taking the time for yourself to process life and not being afraid to show your insecurities and thoughts to the people around you, they explain, “Finding the courage to ask for help takes time, but vulnerabilities often turn into strengths and can finally liberate you.”

The lyrics are inspired by a longing for change, written during a time where everything stopped and they felt the urge to express freedom and celebrate everyone who feels different. Sonically influenced by the likes of N.E.R.D. and Hiatus Kaiyote, Palmaria focuses on the atmosphere that the song creates, transporting listeners to another dimension. The duo reveal, “These bands can somehow take us away with their melodies, sounds and words. Dublin powerhouse Shobsy continues building momentum in brand-new release ‘Driven’ – a genre-blending pop phenomenon.

Hotly tipped for his soaring falsetto and knack for fusing together contemporary and classic soundscapes to produce modern takes on 80s pop, Irish act Shobsy refuses to tread lightly in each of his releases, ‘Driven’ being the latest shot of adrenaline to add to his already eclectic discography.

Driven is a song inspired by the feeling of being toyed with by someone you have fallen in love with,” says Shobsy. “It captures the mood of the crossover where sexual tension meets true commitment. In the song the character is being tortured by their love interests lack of clarity with what they truly want.

Theatrically stunning with an intensified edge, ‘Driven’ follows a friendship that is gradually developing into something greater. Bursting at the seams with sexual tension and desire, the single also sees Shobsy preparing to ignite the spark in sight.

Fans of The WeekndKanye West & Kavinsky are in for a treat as Shobsy embodies each of them through the track’s genre-hopping rhythm, crossing the boundaries of synth pop into R&B.

On April 15th Shobsy was invited to perform on Ireland’s biggest TV show ‘The Late Late Show’ where he produced a mesmerising performance of Bronski Beat’s ‘Smalltown Boy’ which racked up over 100,000 views within 24 hours.

Formerly the lead vocalist in acclaimed rock group State Lights, the quartet soaked in success with their stadium-sized anthems, including ample appearances at both Electric Picnic and The Late Late Show. In equal measure, State Lights dominated airwaves with international airplay on KROQ in the States and Radio X in the UK. Selling out his first solo show at Dublin’s Workman’s Club last autumn, Shobsy has since swept up a support slot for RTE Choice Music Prize nominees Soda Blonde’s spring Irish tour in addition to selling out Dublin’s Whelan’s venue on February 25th. He recently announced a headline show at Workman’s Cellar on June 4th which has also sold out.

Aibai is a 24-year-old producer from Minneapolis, currently based in Phoenix. Her songs are filled with ambient, cinematic soundscapes that create a daydream-like atmosphere. Having experimented with different genres, her new music explores more of an upbeat electronic dance style, taking inspiration from the likes of Odesza and Polo & Pan, mixing organic instruments with electronic elements to create a unique blend of sounds.

Her latest four-track EP Disconnected, narrates the artist’s feelings during the time she wrote it. Noticing a disconnection from reality, she immersed her emotions into her music, creating a release which allows listeners to escape from real life, delivering an immersive experience and transporting them into an ambient dream-like state.

Leading single “Higher” sees the artist playing with samples she recorded of her roommates and pets. She shares, “It was super fun including everyone on this song! And I had a fun time taking their voices, meows, and barks and turning them into a cool new sound that could add to the song.”

All-encompassing echoing synths, playful melodies and dance-worthy beats create an intoxicating aura, letting your mind float away and forget about your worries. Ethereal, hypnotic and transcending, Aibai has constructed her own world with Disconnected, and it’s one where you’ll never want to leave. Aibai has garnered hundreds of thousands of streams for her music, as well as features on prestigious publications such as The Line of Best Fit, Earmilk, EDM.com, Live Nation’s Ones to Watch and Rolling Stone.

Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Cassie Marin shares her new single, “Wow Factor.”

Following in the footsteps of recent singles like “Push Me,” “Tanto,” “Busy Body” and “Every Time I See The Ocean,” “Wow Factor” is the latest glimpse of what to expect from Cassie’s forthcoming debut album, due out Summer 2022. Packing a powerful combination of intimate lyricism and futuristic pop-electronica production, “Wow Factor” is a tantalizing track about finding inner-strength and confidence.

Expanding on the meaning behind her new single, Cassie says: “‘Wow Factor’ was my snapping point. Traumas and challenges could no longer stop me from reaching and accessing the power I had within. I was dealing with some seriously crazy things in my life, yet found that I could conquer them all and still be here to tell the tale. ‘Wow Factor’ became the substance of this inner power. It’s a booming voice of survival instinct that can get us through any challenge with pure self-love and true pride in our individuality. We all walk our own paths, and we all deserve to feel proud of it. When listeners hear the song, I want them to summon this inner confidence that feeds them pure acceptance and conquers all barriers.”

Spanish born artist and musician Shanghai Baby releases her self-titled debut EP following a slew of guitar-pop teaser singles.

A powerfully raw collection of tracks, Shanghai Baby navigates the trials of young adult life and mental health through a series of distinctly relatable situations, creating an empathetic and vulnerable EP with a universally recognisable voice running throughout. By laying bare her inner most thoughts and feeling in what feels like a boldly autobiographical debut, Shanghai Baby has crafted a timeless release.

Opening track “Horse” bursts in fruition with punching guitars. Setting the tone, Shanghai says of the track, “The whole EP is about different phases and faces of a depression and this one is about that feeling when everyone around you is doing what you think you should be doing, and you can’t even start doing it. In the end, I have to do it for my pride.”

Containing the previously released singles “10 Minutes” and “Go Home”, the indie tracks brilliant balance nostalgic angst with guitar led pop while lamenting over the effects of depression.

Discussing the singles, Shanghai Baby states “In “10 Minutes” I talk about being tired of everything – thinking that everything was better when I was younger, not being able

to do anything creatively. Just needing 10 minutes of space cause it’s ok to feel that way sometimes”

She adds, “With “Go Home” I wanted to write a song about either wanting to stay home cause of your problems or wanting to stay away from home cause of your problems. I’ve had those two feelings and I’ve seen my friends have them too. To me this happens when my worries surface – like what’s the future looking like, bank account running low, not being able to concentrate, not being inspired, etc. These worries sometimes make us want to be by ourselves and not get out, but sometimes make us want to be surrounded by people and full of distractions.

My latest offering, “Rehearsal,” takes you into my fantasy world of sexual expression using dance as a sultry poetic landscape. Produced by Lantz, this single is the second release off of my saucy forthcoming debut EP.

I’ve always had a passion for dance and I was inspired to write a song that used the themes of movement to tell a story of lust and fantasy. I just wanted to write something that made me feel sexy, and I think it’s important as a woman to speak freely about sex and what it is that makes me feel powerful in my sensuality.

I hope my listeners will feel confident, saucy and powerful and get lost in the moment and the music.

I wrote “Birthday” about my best friend and our childhood spent growing up together in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. It is a nostalgic and gentle pop song, reflecting on those happy memories.

I remember countless times where she and I would sit in the car and talk for hours, trying to navigate high school life, attempting to understand what the “truths” were. It was like we had tunnel vision back then.

One night, after talking on the phone with her, I was just in awe of how much she had grown as a person and before I knew it, I was writing a song about us.

I chose this song title because my friend had recently become a Christian. When someone converts to Christianity, they are called “born-again,” so “Birthday” just seemed fitting.

I loved growing up in Kitchener-Waterloo. It was a great place to learn how to play music and start out in the scene. I had a hard time moving from there to Montreal, just because the community was so important to me.

Birthday” stands as a testament to how important my best friend and I’s relationship and the place we grew up still are and always will be.

Emerging Essex artist and producer tommy. returns with the enigmatic new track “FROM THE SNAKE” – the first release taken from his upcoming debut album.

Following on from his recent EP HONEYLAND!, tommy.’s latest offering reinvigorates the alternative scene with this hazy goth-pop track. Dripping with heavy reverberating bass and scratching guitars, the vocals of a sinful tale overlay tommy’s signature dark soundscape with an effortless cool. Mastering his own sound and style, “FROM THE SNAKE” marks the first glimpse into a bigger story and theme tommy is building for his album later this year.

In a statement about the track tommy. says, “FROM THE SNAKE” is the first song I wrote the lyrics too before the instrumental – I was just humming the idea for the hook in my girlfriend’s bathroom and the rest really came from that. I was really drawn to the concept of having a crazy desire for something, something you can’t have but you take it anyway – that’s where the biblical angle with the fruit and the snake felt relevant for the story and image I wanted to get across. It’s got sinister vibes but hopefully doesn’t take itself too seriously. Someone said it gave them Luigi’s Mansion vibes and I have used that as a reference ever since – it’s a perfect description of the vibe!”.

Rising London artist Nat Slater returns with her new single “4 Leaf Clover” produced by Artful Dodger’s Mark Hill – following on from the dreamy single “Been A Minute”.

A uniquely talented musician and songwriter, the chilled-out track warmly blends R&B inspired instrumentals and Nat’s signature airy vocals in a contemporary take on the genre. Reflecting on being “unlucky in love”, the introspective lyrics of “4 Leaf Clover” explore the universally relatable struggle of finding romance and comparing yourself to your friends – wrapping it all in a hazy, pop-edged soundscape. Again produced by Mark Hill, the duo’s longstanding working relationship again results in an effortlessly slick, melodic sound’

Nat states on the track: “I wrote 4 leaf clover about my failed love life lol. It’s basically saying that I could find a perfect person for me, ticks every box, but somehow everything would still end up going wrong. And all my friends would always be chatting to me about their happy relationships, I was just like damn can’t relate. I wrote the song in my bedroom, it made me laugh.”

This is Vancouver indie rock band Colour Tongues. Coming from a variety of influences and life journeys, the band has survived mountain blizzards, floods and car crashes to bring you dreamy and high-energy nostalgic rock – taking you on a journey to the 1980’s and back to the present, with a stop-off in the early 2000’s. Midnight Island” was inspired by young love and early romance. The song brings the listener back to the days when they were discovering things for the first time – it’s that thrilling energy that comes with having your whole life ahead of you and literally anything is possible. We want the song to take you back there, but also to remind you that anything STILL is possible, and the energy of your youth never has to go away.

I want to run to you, but I can’t move

Produced by Matt Di Pomponio, Midnight Island is a mix of early 2000’s nostalgic, modern indie rock and indie dream pop and is inspired by the journey that is human relationships. Each song tells a story about a different stage or type of relationship that all of us have to go through – the blissful naivete of first love, the trials and tribulations of trying to make it work, the ultimate heartbreak, self-rediscovery, and the final realization that true love needs to start from within.
