Maya Hawke and Laura Linney have signed on to star in Ethan Hawke‘s next directorial feature, entitled ‘Wildcat’, based on the life of Southern writer Flannery O’Connor.

“Maya has been working hard for years to put this project together, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to introduce a new generation of filmgoers to the genius of Flannery O’Connor,” Ethan Hawke said in a statement. “Her work explores themes important to all artists — the intersection of creativity and faith, the blurred relationship between imagination and reality.”

Rounding out the cast is Alessandro Nivola, Vincent D’Onofrio, Philip Ettinger, Steve Zahn, Rafael Casal, Cooper Hoffman, and Willa Fitzgerald. ‘Wildcat’ is being directed and produced by Ethan Hawke from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shelby Gaines.
