Toronto-based indie rock outfit Housewife reveals their new single, “Fuck Around Phase,” out today on Hazel Street Records. The new song reunites Fry with frequent co-writer and producer Gabe Simon (Lana Del Rey, Noah Kahan) in Nashville, TN and includes a co-write from fellow singer-songwriter Savana Santos.

“Fuck Around Phase” is the first taste of new music from Housewife this year and introduces a more mature and intentional indie-rock driven sound. Guided by a lush mix of distorted guitar riffs and pop-flavored melodies, “Fuck Around Phase” is a stealthily infectious song. “This song is about learning to enjoy yourself and be present after going through a difficult time,” says Fry. “I want to embrace being messy and not take things too seriously!”

20-year-old Brighid Fry (she/they), aka Housewife, creates effervescent indie rock interwoven with timeless and perspective songwriting. Already touting several independent Canadian music awards for their previous releases, their most recent EP, ‘You’ll Be Forgiven,’ received praise from outlets such as FLOOD Magazine, FLAUNT, BrooklynVegan, and more.

Housewife’s music regularly touches on the experience of being a young, queer, AFAB person existing in a male-dominated industry. In addition to exploring these themes in their music, Fry is also an advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and environmentalism, proudly fighting for immediate government response to protect ecological catastrophes as a founding member of the Canadian chapter of Music Declares Emergency.

eminently-rising rapper Pap Chanel releases her upbeat, bossed-up new single “Left Right,” get it today HERE via 4th & Broadway/1865/Def Jam Recordings. The high-energy, tantalizing latest music release from Atlanta’s own Pap Chanel creates a ferociously-pleasant tone and fresh dose of  #PAPTIVITIES for the new year.

Referencing today’s highly anticipated release Pap shares, “You gotta pay the cost to be the boss! and I never mind letting that be known! While creating this track, my goal was to bring all of my do’s and don’ts to life.”

The future of rap is femme, and Pap Chanel, over the course of a few years, has trail-blazed on the rap scene, letting her presence be known as one of the definitive new voices coming out of Atlanta, GA. The ascent of the certified Pretty & Paid rapper is more than meets the eye. Since the release of her most recent EP project, Pretty & Paid 2.0 (2020), which topped #1 via the United States iTunes Hip Hop/ Rap ChartsPap has transformed (P)retty (A)nd (P)aid into a movement that, in equal degrees, delivers to mega-hit anthems made to entice high-energy and leads the charge in empowering women to embrace their inner confidence.

With her gift of delivering feel-good hits, a lyrical cadence and flow that casts a shadow over the major league of rap, and growing popularity due to her social media following and viral acclaim, Pap Chanel, in song and savviness, has all the makings to be the next and new leader of Hip Hop as a change-maker.

Flawes’ previous single, the punchy, defiant synth-pop anthem ‘Don’t Blame Me’, landed on a phenomenal 43 international Apple Music New in Alternative playlists, while also earning fresh airplay at BBC Introducing – a big follow-up to the bright-eyed pop rush of ‘Is It Any Wonder’. The trio continue to power towards the June 9th release of their new album ‘One Step Back, Two Steps Forward’ as they now unveil their new single ‘Tears Won’t Show’, along with its official video. Listen HERE. Watch the official video HERE.

‘Tears Won’t Show’ showcases a twist upon Flawes’ core sound, their alt-pop roots now darkened with a soulful holler from frontman Josh ‘JC’ Carruthers, a swaggering bluesy undercurrent and a bombastic, brute-forced beat. Its mood is expressed in its lyrics too, with a simple but uncompromising message: we’ve tolerated enough, and now we’re calling time on your games.

‘Tears Won’t Show’ was written by Flawes – JC, Freddie Edwards and Josh ‘Huss’ Hussey – and was mixed by Jonathan Gilmore [The 1975, Twenty One Pilots, Beabadoobee].

Flawes commented, “This song is about being messed around by someone that doesn’t know what they want, they have all the power and they know it. The time has come to make a quick clean exit and ultimately I won’t be crying about it either. I love how moody this song is. It feels like a totally new sound for Flawes and brings an unexpected colour to the album.”

MORGAN REESE

• If you like to have imaginary mosh pits in your room alone with headphones on, this song is about to be on repeat for you. For fans of bands like No Doubt, The Cranberries, Paramore, beabadoobee, and Avril Lavigne. “As a young black woman, I want to be the representation that was missing for me listening to this type of music growing up.” – Morgan Reese

Singer, songwriter, and model Kylin Milan has released her anthemic debut single “Could It Be You,” out now on all DSPs. Co-written and produced by GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer Poo Bear (Justin Bieber, Usher, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez), the song highlights Kylin’s rapid-fire intonation over layered synths and soft piano chords building up to a dance floor-ready breakdown. Carrying a soaring chorus, the young songstress speaks to the curiosity and wonder of if there is a perfect match out there for her and who they may be.

LISTEN TO “COULD IT BE YOU” HERE

“I’ve never been in a relationship, so it’s about finding the right person,” shares Kylin about the track. “It’s the idea that I don’t know who that person will be or where I am going to find them. But when I do, could it be you? Have we met before? Are we going to meet again? Will that relationship turn into something?”

“It was amazing working with Kylin on ‘Could It Be You’ and I’m extremely excited for this record to be out,” Poo Bear adds. “Her approach and style of dance music is needed right now and I think this is a lane that she can really flourish in. With these types of records and mine and SHNDO’s frequencies in the studio, I think we created something really special.”

“Could It Be You” marks the first single from the multifaceted talent. After spending countless hours in the studio writing and recording with various music producers, Kylin was connected with Poo Bear and the two immediately locked into a creative flow. Her dynamic vocals and amplified personality were brought to the forefront as the two developed her cultivated and confident sound.

The San Antonio, TX rap powerhouse delivers one bulletproof bar after another. The throwback production only amplifies his edgy flows as he carries an instantly catchy chorus with swagger, style, and soul. It affirms his place at the forefront of hip-hop’s next vanguard and perfectly complements the series all at once.

GODFATHER OF HARLEM has yielded a succession of standouts. “Top Tier” [feat. ADE & Symba] arrived last month, inciting buzz further. Meanwhile, GRAMMY® Award-nominated Ghanaian multiplatinum artist and songwriter Lord Afrixana [Jidenna, Beyoncé] delivered an entrancing Afro-inspired anthem for the Soundtrack with “Bad Guy.” It picked up plugs from HipHopSince1987 and more.

It served as the follow-up to Busta Rhymes’s banger “Murda” [feat. Bilal]. The Source asserted, “He combines vintage New York hip-hop with expert verbal gymnastics. Meanwhile, Bilal, a vocal powerhouse from Philadelphia, arrives with a soulful counterweight to Busta’s explosive performance.

Following a slew of singles that gained Sam Short massive industry and online attention in 2022, the indie/pop singer-songwriter teases a forthcoming project with the release of her new single and accompanying music video, “Masterpiece.” An entirely female-assembled record, written and produced by Sam and her co-writer Liza Kaye in a college bedroom, Sam shows that her strength lies in her raw vulnerability. She admits that didn’t set out with an intention to empower people, but with her delicately crafted songwriting – she has.

Having proven she can tease an audience into a rabid state of anticipation with her previous long-lead rollout releases, “Masterpiece” surely followed suit, picking up viral traction on TikTok and Instagram with over 5M cumulative views and thousands of UGCs. Pinned as the first single leading into her debut EP, set to release later this year. Sam also recently sold out shows at LA’s infamous Hotel Cafe and Winston House.

“‘Masterpiece’ is an ode to duality and disillusionment in love. It depicts my first-ever romantic relationship: one that was equal parts beautiful and toxic. Throughout the song, I unabashedly describe my first love as a ‘sick, sick freak,’ as well as a ‘mindless flight risk’ and  a “bad, bad dream,” amongst other things,” explains Sam Short. “Despite these negative descriptors, however, in the song’s hook I ultimately land on referring to this person as a ‘masterpiece’ – which is a testament to my own delusion. By the end of the song, a harsh reality is revealed: the relationship will always be an endless cycle of poison and cure – and I’m partially to blame.”

Oregon-bred, LA-based singer songwriter Sam Short made her debut as a solo artist in 2022 with the release of “Already Mine,” a vibrant and enthusiastic TikTok viral empowerment anthem. Since the release of the song, Short has since made a splash as an emerging pop artist, following her success with yet another viral moment with her seductive, body positive single, “Naked”. Her unique ability to detail the female experience via song has translated across platforms, leading Short to amass hundreds of thousands of followers across socials in less than a year.

Most recently, she released “Taste It” after audiences on socials did nothing short of begging for the track. Collecting over 20k pre-saves, the song received support across all DSPs and Ones To Watch. Transcending the digital landscape, Short is embarking on tapping into her artistry with her debut full length EP to be released in summer of 2023, with the alt-pop track “Masterpiece” serving as the project’s leading single.

Rock band, Brian Tell And The Lovemakers are thrilled to release her new single “Stand Out” that is out now.

The band says,  “Stand Out was the first material we all wrote together – essentially becoming a band and finding our sound. Max came up with a bass line, and we all joined in. We had played for months with my solo material, but this was the start of a new direction – and will continue with our upcoming releases”.

Brian Tell and The Lovemakers play modern rock ’n’ roll with a vintage vibe. Based in Austin, Texas, they take a direct, uncomplicated approach to songwriting that’s influenced by decades of rock, blues, and punk history. The result is a searing, style-bending sound that’s modern yet old school.

All former New Yorkers, the current line-up formed in Austin. The band consists of Brian Tell on vocals and guitar, Jason Desiderio on drums, Max Marschark on bass, and Stan Spring on lead guitar. Together, they’ve written Warm Weather Woman, Watching the News, and Stand Out. Recorded at the Ice Cream Factory, these songs were mixed by Dan Duszynski.

Following the release of her lead single “Loaded Gun,” Kami Kehoe serves up her second, new single “love songs vol. 1” – accompanied by a raw, unfiltered lyric video. Leading up to the reveal of her debut album, her record “love songs vol. 1” teases Kami’s upbeat, playful side with funky percussion and uptempo production. While the song itself feels fun and light, the lyrics hit deep as she explains that she wrote it about loving someone that had a bad reputation in the eyes of others.

“This record talks about my experience of a past relationship where people close to me tried to warn me that I shouldn’t be in it… that it was wrong. But, I kept fighting for it because I never saw what everyone else could see,” Kami Kehoe explains. “Even though I realized they were right in the end, I could only see the good in this person through my eyes.”

Fusing old and new soul to create a sound that undeniably dances between genres, the 19-year-old artist to watch is also fluent in playing drums and possesses a particular attention to production that is inherently tangible.

After a string of single releases since 2021, Kami prepares for the release of her debut album, due out this spring. She also preps her upcoming show at LA’s notorious Peppermint Club on March 18th.

Though music has always been a part of what makes Kami the budding artist she is today, having played music since the age of 6. She began her music journey learning to play the drums and then graduated to writing her own music and eventually performed back-up vocals in a band with her two sisters.

At 16, the band split ways but Kami kept pursuing music, teaching herself how to produce and engineer from her own bedroom. Over the past three years, Kami has been churning out tunes everyday and has a catalog of over 100 unreleased songs, and counting. Kami has found her sound and she is finally ready to start showing the world who she really is with her forthcoming project.

Brooklyn-born musician Raymond Castronovo, known professionally as Streetwise, has just dropped his latest EP, The Road Ahead, on all major music streaming platforms. The six-track album is the third release over the past three years, following his debut album Crossing Bridges in 2021 and his first EP, The Other Side in 2022.

True to his New York roots, Castronovo’s music is a timeless blend of rock ‘n’ roll that pays tribute to the sounds of the 60s. The Road Ahead includes four original songs written by the artist, as well as his renditions of two classic tracks from the era: Carol King’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and Chubby Checker’s “The Twist.”

Each song on The Road Ahead offers listeners a unique and personal glimpse into Castronovo’s life. The upbeat blues track “Pittsburgh” tells the story of a man trying to woo a “classy lady” at a bar, while the romantic ballad “Here With Me” expresses the longing of a man separated from his beloved. “Quarter to Four” is a slower blues track that chronicles the aftermath of a long night of drinking, and “The Tissue Song” is a reflective ballad that explores the joys and challenges of raising children.

Top new voice SALPA writes about his homeland in his debut track “England.” In his warts-and-all tale, Salpa’s ability to tell a story is special, invoking his country’s nostalgia laced with some of its many ongoing identity issues. This is the first of many new tracks for SALPA, some featuring Englancollaborations with some of the best emerging UK voices who have each contributed to a different English culture.

Speaking about his new release, England, SALPA said “I don’t remember much of the process, this song came from somewhere outside of myself. It doesn’t sonically align with where I’m going but it needed to come through and that is why I’m putting it out“

To accompany the release, SALPA adds;

My Mother’s disillusionment, her rage.

My Dad’s stoicism, his steadfastness.

My Grandad’s anxiety for the world, his inability to switch off the news.

When I return to England I stay with them, the pain comes from seeing something we all love in disrepair.

Named by Variety as an “Up-and-Coming Group to Know,” this Mini Album is their first release of 2023. The nine members come together as nine puzzle pieces to create the perfect masterpiece. This album, which explodes with youthful energy, sings of free-spirited emotions that you, I, and we can all feel. Rappers Serim and Allen contributed to writing lyrics on multiple tracks, and Lead Vocalist Woobin’s second self-produced song is on the album. Even WSJN’s EXY contributed to writing lyrics on track #5 “A to Z.”

In a pitch black universe, you became my only shining satellite.
Within the perfect orbit that was finally created,
Now it’s my turn to become a satellite of your planet with my puzzle piece.
A pair of masterpieces we completed and will complete together.

To the new world that you will show me.
INTO YOUR GRAVITY

Mixing electro-funk vibes with 2000s pop, “Ultimate freedom” is the theme of the lead track “Groovy.” Showcasing CRAVITY’s youthful energy through fresh visuals and diverse colors, the music video takes you through a journey to find the missing piece of a puzzle. CRAVITY’s message is that each of us is the protagonist of our own lives, whether in reality or on TV, and we have the limitless possibility of becoming whoever we want to be. As the album progresses, it introduces the message of love, hope, and dream; and these come together to form the keyword “empathy.” The theme of wanting to pursue their true passion is not only something that any youth can go through in their life, but also CRAVITY’s way of creating its unique team color.

Singer, songwriter and self-made producer, Scarlet Parke, releases her latest single, “369,” today. Performed exclusively for Grammy.com last year, “369” showcases a combination of Scarlet’s
confident writing ability, strong production skills, and commanding vocals. Scarlet elaborates; “369 is a manifestation practice I like to do that includes writing down a mantra 3 times in the morning, 6 times in the afternoon, and 9 times at night. I’ve manifested some amazing things since I started doing it. ” A single that Scarlet has named the heart of her upcoming album, Simulation, “369” is all about manifestation. Alongside songwriting, Scarlet has also found herself being an advocate for females in the industry. “Did you know 2% of women are producers?” Scarlet elaborates on her creative process; “I’ve been holding onto some of the songs on my upcoming album for as long as 9 years. I’ve just been searching for the right producer, and it was me the whole time. It’s been a journey and I really want to talk about how important it is that women support each other more than ever. There’s nothing like the freedom that I’ve felt producing my own music. I didn’t really know how anxious I was all the time going into the studio with a bunch of random people. Now that I’m self producing, I don’t have to worry about booking time or dealing with studio fees. I can create whenever and wherever I feel safe and inspired to make my music”

Los Angeles-based alt-rocker Annabel Lee shares her debut album Mother’s Hammer is out everywhere now. A limited run on vinyl will be available exclusively at the official album release show on March 25 at LA’s Moroccan Lounge with tickets on sale now here. Alongside the LP, Lee shares the latest, haunting track, “All Of My Ghosts” out everywhere now. Plus, Lee’s official SXSW showcase is next week on Friday, March 17 at Half Step in Austin, TX at 11:15pm CT along with Indigo De SouzaZella Day and Victoria Canal.

Written mostly while in quarantine in 2020, Mother’s Hammer gave Annabel Lee time to reflect on preceding years which were some of the hardest of her life. After a cross-country move to pursue music, Lee found herself in challenging situations, from struggling with addiction and running out of money to ending an eight year relationship that left her without a place to live. It was from this profound hardship that an incredibly intimate, expansive body of work emerged. Diving into the subject matter, Lee shares, “Some of the stories on the album relate to being strung along by vampires in the industry. Being mistreated and taken advantage of. Fumbling around trying to fall in love and staying numb at every turn. Grieving the loss of friends, gone much too soon, and trying to see the silver linings but losing hope. Being 3,000 miles from anyone that actually knew me. It was a very dark and informative time.”

Linda Varg is a Swedish pop artist who brings a unique and fresh sound with her empowering and uplifting anthems. With influences ranging from pop and rock to reggae and urban, her music is sprinkled with a punky attitude and a 90’s flavored tinge. Her musical career has been a colorful one – born in a small village in Sweden with a population of only around 25 people, it’s been a wild ride to where she is now. From winning the TV show Popstars and landing multi-platinum status with the group Supernatural, to signing a major label deal with Warner Music, Varg has devoted every second of her life to music. She’s had the pleasure of performing as Annie in the musical Chicago in Copenhagen, living out her childhood dream, and was also one of the finalists of Swedish Idol in 2010. All of this eventually led to Varg deciding to take the plunge into a solo career and she has never looked back since.

Currently signed to Fifth Island Music/Sony Music, her latest single “Fuck It Up” is off of her upcoming debut full length album. “Fuck It Up” narrates the realisation that you have been making yourself smaller, moulding yourself to fit in with other peoples needs and desires. Finally coming to terms with what she had been doing for years, Varg decided to make a change, starting with this song. Marking a new chapter in her life, “Fuck It Up” shows how far the artist has grown, refusing to dim her light for anyone.

Varg confides, “We should not blame others. Even though in most cases it starts with someone doing or saying something bad to us, for me it started when I was very young. A woman who was older than me couldn’t handle that I was happy, unafraid and talented. They said things to me that made me unsure of myself and that’s when I started to make myself smaller. In Sweden we have a special word, kind of like an unwritten law and it’s “Jantelagen”, which means that you should never think that you are someone and should never stand out and shine more than anyone else. I hate that law! Every single person should shine!!!”

Sonically, “Fuck It Up” radiates an empowering atmosphere, with upbeat, feel-good instrumentation and emotional, vulnerable lyrics. “I’m going to make myself stronger” chants the songwriter, as she manifests positivity.
Varg’s music has debuted at #1 on iTunes Rock Sweden, received notable airplay across both Sweden and Germany, and has garnered hundreds of thousands of streams. She is currently part of a big campaign on TikTok for the brand LATZ where she is duetting with Robbie Williams. The video has received close to a million views to date and is growing every day!

Bend, Oregon-based Leadbetter Band are set to release their third full-length album, Cake, March 4th on all streaming platforms. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Eric Leadbetter, bassist/vocalist Aaron Moore, and drummer Kaleb Kelleher, the power trio create 70s-era rock ’n’ roll with a modern approach, delivering a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Sharing lead vocal duties, Leadbetter and Moore deliver a 1-2 punch on their forthcoming, nine-track full-length album.

Recorded at Temple of the Trees in Seattle, Washington with legendary engineer/producer Joe Reineke at the helm, the Leadbetter Band follows up their 2019 self-titled debut and 2021’s Howl with Cake, which furthers the band’s songwriting prowess while, thanks to Reineke, adds depth and layers to the recordings.

“[Reineke] took the songs and tones to new heights,” exclaims Leadbetter, discussing the album. “He challenged us and really brought the heat with this album.”

The second incarnation of the Leadbetter Band, the band gelled in the studio, as Leadbetter points out, “This is very fun because Aaron and I switch off singing lead vocals, and that provides a lot of entertaining variety. Kaleb and I have been in two other bands together so we have a long history of playing together. People confuse us all the time because they say we look like brothers.”

The result is a collection of tunes, all penned by Leadbetter, that sprouted out of their live chemistry, which shows in the recordings, where all songs thrive on a live energy sound, while also sounding sonically immediate, thanks to Reinecke’s production.

Cake opens up with the album’s title track, Leadbetter says the album got its name because it’s “all about trying to have cake and eat it too.”

“Cake” is all rock swagger, instantly establishing the album – and the band – as a rock ’n’ roll force, recalling Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, and The Faces, to name a few, while spitting out a jammer that is sure to get you to move.

But, the band isn’t a guitar-rock retro one trick pony, delivering the funk on “All It Is,” the meditative on “Another Light Year,” and album closer, “Make It Your Own,” finishes out with a slow-burning, dazzling slow dance of a rocker.  Meanwhile, several other rockers fill out the album, ensuring there isn’t a dull moment throughout the nine tracks.

When asked if the album came out the way he heard it in his head, Leadbetter states, “In a way yes, in a way no. I’ve found that good songs have a life of their own and evolve with time. They unfold. So the seeds planted for each song grew, but they flowered into a more intricate and beautiful version than I ever could have imagined.”

Discussing the highlights of the album, Leadbetter says, “I think ‘Mountains’ might be one of my favorite tracks because it really takes you on a rock journey. Covers a lot of ground and has some great riffed mixed with some jazzy chords in the bridge and solo. I also really love the work Joe did on the swarm-o-tron on ‘Another Light Year’ and ‘Watchdog.’ What a cool gadget.”

He continues, “I think people crave nostalgia. It’s original music inspired by the rock ’n’ roll we love and grew up on. It’s different than everything else out there today, but has ghostly echos of sounds we love.”

With the album slated for release in March, now the band plans to hit the road, play all types of venues, and expose new ears to Cake.

girlfriends (Travis Mills & Nick Gross) have announced the release of their new single “Over My Dead Body” out this Friday, March 10 via Big Noise, produced by Andrew Goldstein (Machine Gun Kelly, Papa Roach, blackbear).

Presave “Over My Dead Body” here.

The catchy track referencing the raw past of a toxic relationship brings a cathartic release with melodic emotional intensity paired with newly found freedom.

With 93+ million global streams to date and roughly half a million monthly listeners on Spotify, the prolific pair conjure songs that are at once pleasingly familiar and warmly unique. Inspired by the style of caffeinated pop-punk that first shaped them, the group’s music is a vehicle for self-expression and catharsis, a means to process grief, uncertainty, and renewed vigor for life destined to connect with others who struggle.

SPIN called girlfriends’ self-titled debut “polished, impassioned, and commanding,” comparing their cross-genre appeal to MGK and Trippie Redd.

The LA-based pop-punk duo will be taking the new song on the road this summer, supporting The Used & Pierce The Veil on their Creative Control Tour hitting New York City, Irvine and more.

Nashville,TN- Infamy and chaos have followed rock n roll band The Pink Spiders since they first stormed onto the Nashville music scene.  Today, they are excited to announce their new signing to the eclectic label, Pure Noise Records.

“We feel like we found the perfect label for the new record with Pure Noise as they’re the home to so many bands that we’re listening to now, as well as over the years. It’s a really great fit.” says lead singer Matt Friction.

In celebration of this, The Pink Spiders have released brand new single “Gold Confetti” which was inspired by the early morning party aftermath of a New Years party.

“Although the streamers hanging for that night’s party had partially fallen from the ceiling and the helium had mostly escaped the balloons, still, the band played on. Looking down at the golden confetti on the floor that was no longer shiny or reflective, it seemed like the perfect metaphor for the bittersweetness of the passing of another year, and the promise of the one to come.”

LatinXoxo is Migguel Anggelo’s nonconforming and self-accepting rallying cry: a break from “Latin Lover” clichés and his own Venezuelan father’s gendered expectations. With indelible precision, weaving in and out of the audience, the artist connects past and present while unraveling the stereotypes that would otherwise constrain him. LatinXoxo was designed to immerse an audience in a highly personal story. It is an artful collage of theater, queer comedy, physical movement, and sumptuous song selections. The musical repertoire spans decades of pop hits, his own original compositions, and the Spanish boleros that defined his youth. LatinXoxo arrives in Salt Lake City, West Palm Beach, Miami Beach, and Stanford this spring. A full itinerary is below.

LatinXoxo runs 70 minutes and is performed in English and Spanish. The show was conceived by Migguel Anggelo; book by C. Julian Jiménez; musical direction by Jaime Lozano; direction by Adrian Alexander Alea.
