Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for the highly anticipated seventh installment from Paramount Pictures, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’. In this movie we see Ethan and his IMF team go on a mission to retrieve a key before it can fall into the wrong hands and potentially destroy the world. Writer, director and producer Christopher McQuarrie returns to direct, which is his third film at the helm in the Mission Impossible franchise. It seems every time both himself and Tom Cruise are trying to go one stunt and one action sequence bigger.
Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie have made a perfect match when it’s come to blockbuster films, they both collaborated on Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Top Gun: Maverick, two of the biggest action movies of the century. Once again they seemed to have created yet another mind blowing action flick.
Hayley Atwell is a new edition to the series playing a main character named Grace, a pickpocket who brings a strong and commanding presence to the film. We also see ties to the original film with Gabriel (Esai Morales), who returns as the main villain and is someone who has ties to Ethan’s past.
As always Cruise deserves a standing ovation for his commitment to his films, and pulling off some of the most insane stunts, which almost certifies him as a real action hero. “MI7” falls slightly short of being a blockbuster powerhouse like “Fallout” and “Ghost Protocol” were, but it still manages to hold it’s own, being easily one of the stronger films in the franchise. Anyone who is going to watch this movie in the cinema, is seating up to experience one of the biggest action films of the year, something Cruise never falls short in delivering.
