EXCLUSIVE interviews

Exclusive Interview with Actor and Singer/Songwriter, Barry Conrad On His Web Series ‘Banter with BC’

Hi Barry welcome back to OLC! Now you recently spent some time in the U.S. and various place around the world how was that experience for you and what did you learn?

Thanks for having me back! I always get excited about  travelling to the US, especially my favorite city, New York. I had the pleasure of doing some work in Arizona and Monterey, my first time visiting either of those places. Experiencing the Grand Canyon was pretty mind-blowing.

You’ve also recently launched your own web series ‘Banter with BC’, can you tell me a bit about the series and why you decided to start it?

It was really born out of the desire for more connection. In my industry, it can be isolating sometimes – people can tend to stay on their side of the fence, for whatever reason.

This is my way of “crossing the room”. It’s a chance to connect with fascinating people (some who I know, some who I don’t) and learn new things, all the while breaking bread together. It combines two of my favourite things in life: great food and great conversation.

What is one of the most memorable guests you had on the show and what made it special for you?

I’ve been pretty lucky in that all my guests so far have been memorable. They were all open and vulnerable, some really special moments.

A few fun ones though are: Marvin Osifo’s ice cream scraping, Renee Gartner’s dog show glee, Brock Ashby on being fun and not funny, Courtney Clarke’s wild car-licking and Ethan Browne’s 77-second hand washing.

You’ve gotta check out their episodes to see what I’m talking about!

Who is someone you’d love to have on the series and why?

So many people… I’ve got a pretty big list. But Margot Robbie. I’ve gotta get her to teach me her crying-on-cue trick.

You’ve also landed yourself a role on the six part reality podcast series ‘We Are Lonely’, can you tell me a bit about that and how you got involved in the project?

It’s centered around Medibank’s 10 year commitment to reducing the effects of loneliness and I had the privilege of taking on a mentoring role in the series. Without giving anything away, it was one of the most meaningful, unique experiences I’ve ever had and I can’t wait for people to tune in.

What do you stand for?

Love.

What’s next for you in 2023?

More ‘Banter with BC’, acting, music and other exciting adventures.
