Frequently regarded as one of the best rock bands of all time, The Offspring have garnered a reputation for its unmistakable sound and social comment. The multi-platinum band first achieved worldwide success in the 90’s with the release of their album Smash, which sold over 11 million copies. Following Smash, they continued to release hit after hit, popularizing rock at a mainstream level. Throughout their career, they’ve sold over 40 million albums, toured arenas, and built a massive fan base globally. The group is also currently working on new music.

Emerging singer and songwriter Emma Ogier reveals her second single, “Consider Me A Winner,” out today on Cardinal Records.

Last month, Emma released her debut single, “First Base,” to widespread support from fans and tastemakers alike. Her second single, “Consider Me A Winner,” continues to introduce listeners to her distinct Americana-flavored indie-pop sound and undeniable lyrical prowess.

“’Consider Me a Winner’ is about fear, and uncontrollable change,” Emma explains. “This song is how I imagined the next semester might be without my best friend and former roommate after I found out she was leaving. In reality, it was far from lonely. Change is inevitable and we win by adapting and evolving.”

Hailing from Houston and currently based in Nashville, 19-year-old Emma Ogier is an artist quickly making a name for herself. Drawing inspiration from established artists like Lori McKenna, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell, her unique sound blends elements of country and indie pop, creating an evocative atmosphere that captures the hearts of her listeners. Her talent has not gone unnoticed by her musical heroes, as evidenced by Maggie Rogers recently joining her for multiple duets on TikTok.

She’s already performed shows in Nashville and Los Angeles, and recently wrapped up a US tour supporting Michaela Slinger. As she continues to gain recognition and accolades, there’s no doubt that Emma Ogier is poised for a successful breakthrough this year.

MARIS
“GOING YET!”

• “The day I wrote “GOING YET!” with producer, co-writer, and now friend, Ian Walsh, I walked into the studio feeling so discouraged; I didn’t know what I wanted, what I wanted to make, or who I wanted to be it. Writing “GOING YET!” was a way for me to capture those feelings of crisis and pressure, and take a step back to look at them, and even better, dance to them.” – MARIS

• “GOING YET!” is MARIS’s first single following her debut EP, Gravity, and will be followed by several additional releases throughout 2023.

ZACH SEABAUGH
“Maybe We Do”

• Singer-songwriter Zach Seabaugh released “Maybe We Do”, the third single from Zach’s debut project, out on October 6th.

• “I wrote this with Melissa Fuller and Brett Truitt. We wanted to keep it simple, like an intimate conversation between two people. I think it speaks to a universal experience and I hope people will hear it and be inspired to lean in on the opportunities in their lives.” – Zach Seabaugh

• This fall, Zach will be embarking on a 21-date tour with The National Parks.

MAISY KAY
“First Time”

• “First loves are exciting and awing and honestly, just like a fairytale, but they can also be so terrifying when you realize it’s all over and all you have are the memories with that person who you thought you’d have forever with. It’s such a powerful moment in time, everyone can relate to those feelings.” – Maisy Kay

• An enchanting pop ballad, “First Time” is the lead single from the forthcoming Metamorphosis EP by Maisy Kay who has already made her mark on the music industry by previously joining forces with notable powerhouses like Timbaland, R3HAB, Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins, and Max Martin protégé Lukas “LULOU” Loules.

• Fans can catch Maisy Kay on the road supporting JVKE on 20 dates of his nearly sold out North American tour starting August 3rd in Vancouver.

CHLOE JANE
“Summer Fling”

• “I believe that most people have had a summer fling or crush at least once in their life and know the rush of excitement that comes with it. This song captures the carefree spirit and exhilarating thrill of casually falling head over heels for someone who has a rebellious charm.” – Chloe Jane

• “Summer Fling” is a girl power anthem perfect for the summer. It’s about women calling the shots and reveling in the abundance of summer flings.

• The “Summer Fling” music video, shot by Caro Knapp, is also out today.

Die For Love” was the love child of two of my playlists I’d had on repeat all spring – my 60’s/70’s themed “strawberry fields forever” and “hype” dance workout playlist. “Die for Love” started as a gut wrenching ballad that talks about the lengths we allow ourselves to get hurt and lost when it comes to the ones we love.

“Even when you’re breaking my heart

you know I’m never running too far”

After writing, we were inspired to pair the topline (influenced by the beautiful melodies of Hall and Oates), with a driving, energetic dance beat, creating a song that sounds both current and classic all at once.

I’ve been very excited to share this new direction with listeners, and hope it brings them all the joy and kitchen dance parties I’ve had leading up to the release!

Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born into a family of musicians, music was Raina’s first language and it runs deep within her veins. Rooted in Jazz and R&B, the songwriter invites us into her unique sonic world with harmonic nuance and lyrical poetry.

Raina’s cross-genre style is built from the bottom up. With improvisation as a starting point for her songs, Raina draws on her emotionality and leans into her perception of the world around, uncovering hidden depths within daily life and articulating personal truth with vulnerability and bravery.

Her latest single, “The Healing” is a meditation on gratitude, a shift in focus, a reminder that this moment, this day, and our time together, are a blessing. The songwriter shares, “In such precarious and unstable times, ‘The Healing’ offers a small relief that something else is around the corner. Grounded in the body, ‘The Healing’ remembers the preciousness of life.”

Produced by Raina’s brother Jake Sokolov-Gonzalez, mixed by Grammy Winning engineer Jon Rosenberg and mastered by 2x Grammy Nominated engineer Ryan Schwabe, sonically “The Healing” is an intentional song, from the lyrics to the arrangement, every detail plays an important part. Blending Jazz and R&B with Gospel elements, “The Healing” feels good while delivering a much needed message.

“The Healing” relates to Raina’s previous two releases, “Who Is She” and “Like I See You,” which see the songwriter touching on connection and community. “Who Is She” is about the changing landscapes of gender roles in the US, how relationships are changing as women become more independent. Tied together through the fact that women don’t have last names, “Who Is She” is a call across generations, wrestling with where we come from and where we are now. “Like I See You” is a love song for our best friends. Raina confides, “We have so many love songs for our lovers, and we love our lovers, but they come and go. ‘Like I See You’ is a love song for those who stick around through all the ups and downs.”
With over a million streams on Spotify, features from multiple notable publications including New York Times, Complex, Wonderland Magazine and Rolling Stone, to name a few and a budding global audience, Raina has packed rooms at prestigious venues such as Public Records, Brooklyn Bowl, SOB’s, Nublu and many others. In 2022 alone, Raina toured internationally in Europe and nationally on the West Coast, reaching new audiences far and wide. In the hopes of creating music that inspires people to feel, Raina shares, “I hope my music gives permission for folks to be where they’re at, to allow the tender feelings to take up space and be seen. I hope that it inspires people to connect more deeply with themselves and with their loved ones, to be more honest and more vulnerable.”

bexx is a seriously exciting new talent in the UK pop scene. Her eclectic, euphoric sound has been hailed as unserious heartbreak pop, giving listeners the soundtrack they need for navigating life’s hurdles.

Taking inspiration from subjects including queer dating, body image, mental health, and her favourite romcoms, bexx uses her songwriting to carve out space for fans to feel accepted and hopeful even in their lowest moments.

Her debut EP, SUCKER, is a collection of songs that show the songwriter admitting to being an idiot when it comes to dating. Described as cathartic anti-love songs for people with big feelings, there is one thing that remains consistent with each track, and that is the humour. With tongue-in-cheek lyrics and an overall lighthearted approach, bexx shares, “I had so much FUN writing this EP, I was laughing the whole time, even when I was writing “haha, I’m dying alone”. It’s about times in my life that felt heavy and lonely, but writing these songs made me feel lighter. Almost all of these songs have a punchline. Pop music just doesn’t have to be that serious.”

Her relatable stories cover everything from being desperate for an ex to text you, being grossed out by your own feelings, being furious at someone for not missing you and of course a friends with benefits situation. Sonically, SUCKER is reminiscent of Carly Rae Jepsen, The 1975 and Fickle Friends, where colourful melodies, iridescent synths, fresh beats and catchy lyrics set the foundations for bexx’s bright and loveable sound.

“haha, I’m dying alone” is pretty self-explanatory, with the songwriter confiding, “One fun fact about me is if I have a big scary feeling, I’m going to make a joke about it. A lot of the time it really does feel like love will never find me. I can cry about it or I can laugh and move forward. This one was written at a time when it was harder to laugh.”

bexx has headlined Nottinghamshire Pride and supported the likes of Fickle Friends and Deco on tour, as well as being featured in the likes of Wonderland, Earmilk, and Rolling Stone. bexx in 2021-22 was about experimenting and finding her style – bexx in 2023 is fully cooked and ready for world domination. bexx is rapidly heading towards an exciting future, and it’s one you’ll want to be a part of.

Cate Carter is a Los Angeles based singer, songwriter and musician. Weaving a unique musical experience by blending pop, rock, folk and Americana genres, the rising artist is known for her emotionally charged lyrics and raw performances, captivating audiences alike.

Her upcoming debut EP Slightly Out Of Reach is a five song autobiographical narrative

discussing aspects of her life that felt slightly out of reach. Whether that be a relationship, connection, trust in herself, or professional success, Cate Carter has crafted a highly relatable and impactful EP that is authentic, vulnerable and enthralling.
Single “Women Always Know” is “

about a woman’s intuition in knowing she is right about something. In my case, it’s about feeling like my partner was going to leave before he allowed himself to explore the beauty and potential of our relationship. In a way though, it’s a love letter to myself. I was severely bullied in middle school and boys used to call me crazy all the time. Not only taking back the word ‘crazy’ but also having a profound trust in myself was empowering and though everything in me wanted him to stay, I also knew I was going to be okay regardless,” confides Carter. With lush Americana-drenched acoustic guitars and soaring vocals singing sing-a-long worthy melodies, “Women Always Know” is a must listen to roots rock anthem.

Standout track, “The Photo On Your Desk” is a rock banger detailing when Carter found a photo of her partner and his ex just laying on his desk. Cater proclaims, “It discusses feelings of jealousy, insecurity, and love. While it is mainly about jealousy and insecurity regarding his ex, The Photo On Your Desk is, at its core, a song about longing for security in a relationship. For your partner to love you the way you love them.”  Driving basslines and gritty guitar riffs underlay an explosive chorus for a cathartic musical journey.  While with “Summer in Love”, Carter creates a meditative folk ballad complete with soulful vocals and cinematic acoustic guitars. The highly relatable narrative, “is about knowing the life you want is slightly out of reach and thanking god that you have someone to battle through with you until you get there. It’s a love song to my partner, my future, and myself,” shares the songwriter.

As a multifaceted artist defying genres, Cate Carter is a magnetic creative force who uses her music to inspire listeners to trust themselves and live authentically. The musician is also an advocate for important causes including intersectional feminism, voting equity and accessibility, accessible sex education, and LGBGQIA rights and protections. Slightly Out Of Reach is a powerful debut. The five track EP is set for release August 11th worldwide.

Dublin-based alternative band – FORTY FOOT – have unveiled their latest single: “Melty Brains”.

Delving into the darker side of Dublin through energetic, distortion-fuelled riffs and infectious vocal melodies, “Melty Brains” is a mosh-ready anthem that takes its name from a piece of Dublin slang used to describe “a situation where someone keeps telling you a really boring story.”

Cementing Forty Foot as one of 2023’s most exciting emerging acts, the track arrives as the band’s fourth release to-date and was recorded at Dublin’s acclaimed Camden Recording Studios (previously host to artists including Hozier, Bryan Adams and 50 Cent). Opting for a one-take approach to complement their fuzzy ‘90s sound, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sam Coffey explains:

“We all just got in the room and went for it. We had everything turned up so there’s bleed on every track, I did my vocals in the control room so there’s bleed from the monitors too. We wanted to capture how we play it live and channel that energy.”

While the band’s previous releases chronicle the stages of grief and destructive desire, “Melty Brains” is a thunderous yet viscerally honest remark on the lives of 30-somethings that pins together snippets of stories heard amongst the bustle of pubs around Dublin. Blending a psychedelic riff with larger-than-life rhythms and an infectious chorus, guitarist Mark Dillon adds:

“We grew up in an era where rock bands played live and loud, anything else is weird to us. I love the energy and intensity of live bands and we always try to capture that with our recordings. We don’t like to sit in a booth and layer guitars over each other: we play live with a few amps and every distortion pedal. There’s so much feedback on our guitars, I thought our engineer was going to hate us. But he loved it, he got the vibe.”

Following the sudden death of close friend and former collaborator, Forty Foot were formed in 2019 by Mark Dillon (guitar) and Sam Coffey (rhythm guitar/vocals). In 2022, drummer Anthony Ross and bassist Keith Ennis joined the band, adding a new layer to their signature sound.

New release “Melty Brains” follows the band’s previous singles “Zeros”, “IDNA” and debut “Drugs”. Pioneering a raw and energetic ‘90s-infused sound that nods to the past while simultaneously plotting a course towards the future, Forty Foot take inspiration from the noise-driven live performances delivered by their musical heroes at the end of the last century.

Having recently completed a run of support slots with October Drift, the band have also attracted praise from a range of tastemaker blogs including GoldenPlec who praised the band’s last release “Zeros” for its “Cobain tinge” and “impressive in-your-face mix”.

get acquainted with London newcomer Jacklyn and her slinky, alt-pop single “No Saint.” The BRIT School graduate stands tall amongst her peers on today’s release, armed with standout vocals that shines amongst a sophisticated yet bouncy, throwback backdrop.

Give No Saint a listen now; https://apollodistro.lnk.to/jacklyn

Speaking about the song, Jacklyn explains “‘No saint’ is a song I wrote about being taken for granted and when someone thinks you need them more than they need you, thinking the sun shines out of their ass! It’s a song about taking that power back and bringing them back down to earth and reminding them they “ain’t no saint” 💫

As well as two of her own sellout shows in London last year, Jacklyn has supported two of Cat Burns’ London shows at Omeara. She has worked with producers including Jakwob, Moodtalk, HYLNU and Mack Jamieson, producer of her last single, ‘Insane’ which encapsulates the sensation of speaking to your inner demons and realising you can be your biggest enemy at. times.

Jacklyn is a West London-born singer/songwriter, who layers timeless influence of soul and R&B melodies with contemporary pop.  Jacklyn has been honing her craft for, as long as she can remember. Her early start in the game, coupled with her time at the BRIT School, goes some way in explaining her extensive vocal range and awe-inspiring stage presence, which is incredible for a young woman at the start of her career. Her music has already been heavily supported by the streaming services including multiple adds to New Music Friday on Spotify as well as playlist support at Amazon, Deezer and YouTube Music. Her other notable accomplishments include writing songs for industry titans like Giggs, Rudimental & Majestic.

Irish alt/rock agitators SPEARSIDE are back with the electrifying new single: “Trendsetters”.

Launching a tirade against tiresome notions of cool with a bottle-rocket of fuzzy, frenzied punk-rock thrills; the latest from the Trim, Co. Meath trio takes no prisoners during its lightning-bolt 2’15 blitz.

Laced with self-deprecating humour and a slacker charm, “Trendsetters” is both a bile spattered break-up song  and a tempestuous takedown of those with holier-than-thou ideologies.

“I wish my friends were all trendsetters, I wish my songs were so much better” quips Spearside frontman Oisín Walsh, tongue firmly in cheek.

Recorded on a Revox tape machine dating back to 1974 and described by the band as a “complete capitulation to the 70s power pop aesthetic”, “Trendsetters” fizzes with the timeless tuneage long synonymous with the genre, while adding a refreshing tenacity all their own. Barreling headfirst through two-minutes of good-time choral hooks and ageless no-frills riffs, it’s a track that nods to the new wave of US garage rock heroes such as Jay Reatard, Ty Segall and Young Guv, while beating with the blood of the Irish underground they are quickly beginning to stake as their own.

Speaking about Spearside’s aims for their latest single, guitarist and singer Oisín Walsh explains:

“[Trendsetters is] a shameless pop song about the breakdown of a relationship, and an attempt to capture the energy the likes of Jay Reatard brought to this type of guitar music when it looked dead and buried. Young Guv is currently leading the resurgence of power pop without falling too heavily into the cheesy stylistic tropes that age like milk.

“As much as we love power pop it’s only one aspect of our sound but I imagine it’s something that will always be part of our band even in subtle ways. It feels like we’ve ticked that box with Trendsetters, from here we can explore an array of different sounds. Who knows what we’ll put out next.”

Due to be coupled with a suitably punchy, DIY video by Robert Broaders, standby for its unveiling in the coming weeks….

Sunbeam” was written for my late Uncle Tucker and the family he left behind. I was unable to attend his funeral so I wrote this to express my condolences and support for my Aunty Lorraine and my cousins.

Tucker was a huge force in the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement community and beyond, and he was a fiercely dedicated father and husband.

Watch the official “Sunbeam” music video on YouTube.

This song started as an acoustic lament and then morphed into a classic rock-style tune once the band and I hit the studio. This was not my intent. However, my Uncle Tucker’s spirit stepped in and said let’s make this a rocker. I have awesome childhood memories of his love for classic rock; Led Zeppelin, T-Rex, and CCR. I will forever appreciate his influence on me.

My debut solo album, Songs For My People, is a deeply reverential tribute to the music I absorbed while growing up in the Northern Alberta Métis communities of Paddle Prairie, High Level, and Rocky Lane.

Stream the LP in full via your preferred platform.

I recruited a close-knit crew of collaborators to help bring this project to life. I asked producer extraordinaire Lorrie Matheson (Rae Spoon, Art Bergmann) to “post up at the helm,” and this was no accident – Matheson has been part of the Ghostkeeper world since day one, recording our debut album in 2008, and producing and mixing our latest, Multidimensional Culture, last year.

My bandmates in the main Ghostkeeper band – drummer Eric Hamelin (known for his work with JOYFULTALK and drumming on Alvvays’ smash hit “Archie, Marry Me”), bassist Ryan Bourne (Chad Van Gaalen), and guitarist and pedal steel player Wayne Garrett (Surf Kitties) – join me here as well, and their expertise and wide-ranging artistic sensibilities helped elevate this album from what could have been a simple tribute project to another fully-formed entry in our body of work.

Bearings have released the newest single from their upcoming album The Best Part About Being Human titled “Slip. “Slip was something that came together on its own,” says the band. “The chorus sort of has that country sway to it and the versus tell a story about the wonder and fragility of life. The feelings of loving, but knowing you can never be perfect for that person or rather perfect for anyone as you’re only human. Looking into others experiences and how they found their way through the ups and downs together and what that might have looked like.”

One of electronic music’s most flourishing singer-songwriters, Aviella, today unveils her solo single debut, “Scared To Love Again,” on Monstercat.

Leading with the flourishing artist’s powerful vocal sensibilities, “Scared To Love Again” takes Aviella’s musicality down a moody club cut route with trance-influenced electronic pop production. Capturing her momentum in the songwriting space, the lyrics empower listeners to be courageous when finding new love following a heartbreak, and that the potential to heal is possible – a testament to her authentic vulnerability and ability to form strong connections with her fans through her music.

Aviella shares, “‘Scared To Love Again’ came together really naturally and the song was created so quickly! My collaborators & I were inspired by the feelings that come to the surface while navigating through past traumas in new relationships. There is definitely a deeper meaning here, as the song explains how complex it can be to share vulnerability with the right person after your heart has been previously hurt. This song is a reminder of the scars from love’s past, but also a testament of courage – to embrace the fear of finding a true love that heals and rewrites the narrative of a wounded soul.”

Aviella has become an unstoppable prodigy in the electronic music realm by collaborating and working with heavyweights such as ARMNHMR, Steve Aoki, and Claude VonStroke. Aviella also joined Slushii on the multi-million streamed single “All I Need,” which was the trailer song used for the launch of Rocket League’s free-to-play model and featured in the Rocket League x Fortnite Llama-Rama event trailer as well as Fortnite’s Radio Yonder. One of Aviella’s most personal records to date, “tell me what you’re thinking,” landed her first #1 position on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart and #1 US Dance Radio Mediabase single. In addition, her single “Good To Forget” with the Deux Twins has received radio support including a premiere on KIIS FM and an addition to Evolution Radio. Last year, Aviella was nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ for the Electronic Dance Music Awards. She has graced the stages at renowned venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Shrine, Encore Beach Club, festivals including EDC Las Vegas, OMFG NYE and Big Adventure, and performed at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles this year.

Fans can catch Aviella on the stage with the Deux Twins on select dates at the Wynn’s Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas and during surprise performances in Los Angeles throughout the rest of the summer.

Critically acclaimed rock band, Sublime With Rome is thrilled to release their new single “Cool and Collected” with Slightly Stoopid along with the live music video that can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USj-DhP5Wt8.

The band says, “This song came to life when I bumped into Miles backstage at the Cali Roots Festival. We were both thrilled about our upcoming summer tour and he suggested that we collaborate on a song to perform live every night. I thought it was a brilliant idea because the very next day I was heading to Texas for three weeks to start recording our fourth album. Talk about perfect timing!”

“The song we created focuses on maintaining a cool and collected attitude amidst the pressures life throws at you. It has a laid-back vibe and radiates positive energy, which is something I believe the world needs more of. It’s the perfect sound for our upcoming tour, and teaming up with Slightly Stoopid for this release has taken it to a whole new level!”

As Kimono Pat himself asserts, “Music is always evolving, and it’s essential to stay true to your artistry, drawing from life experiences to continuously evolve as an artist.” Inspired by the likes of Jaden Smith, Travis Scott, Amine, Don Toliver, Tobi Lou, as well as legendary producers Timbaland and Pharrell; Kimono Pat has a personal commitment to successfully merge hip-hop with Japanese culture, creating a one-of-a-kind musical and visual experience for his fans.

A true music aficionado, Kimono Pat’s passion for music ignited at a young age, when he found solace in playing various instruments in his grandfather’s church in Alabama. Growing up, Kimono Pat found refuge in video games, often losing himself in their captivating worlds. Although anime and Japanese pop culture weren’t widely accepted at the time, especially in the South, his fascination with the art form persisted. “My love for Japanese culture and music are the two things that have been with me for the longest. Playing instruments in my grandfather’s church since 3rd grade and immersing myself in anime and Japanese pop culture led me to the name ‘Kimono Pat,’ symbolizing the seamless fusion of these essential aspects of my life,” Kimono Pat explained. Guided by this early devotion, he studied music education at Alabama A&M and earned an audio engineering degree at The Los Angeles Recording School. Under the mentorship of esteemed music director Charlie Wilson and through collaborations with award-winning composer Jermaine Stegall, Kimono Pat has emerged as a versatile and gifted artist. His diverse musical expertise has allowed him to craft a sound that transcends genres, merging the best of hip-hop and Japanese cultural influences into an electrifying musical fusion.

McKOWSKI is pleased to confirm details of his debut solo album: ‘Notes From The Boneyard’, a new release that arrives on 15 September courtesy of the Deltasonic label.

In anticipation of the record, the Irish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has unveiled the single “Return of  Pygmy Pony”, which is available to hear now HERE.

Originally featured in the 2022 indie film “Quantum Cowboys”, a rotoscoped time travel western starring Lily Gladstone and directed by Geoff Marslett, “Return of Pygmy Pony” leads a deathly waltz across a desolate soundscape somewhere in the Midwest.

Featuring Tucson, Arizona’s own Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), the esteemed guitarist adds a little of the true grit of his homeland into its solemn flamenco soul; crowning an instrumental with an identifiably downbeat, Spaghetti Western and Tex/Mex character. Colouring-in the scene, Gelb explains:

“”Return Of Pygmy Pony” treats and entreats the listener to become one with a western motif just miles above the Mexico border steeped into the dusty desert daunting of Southern Arizona while slowly rocking back and forth in a well worn slap of leather saddle as the rider tethers the lanyard attached to the leashed smaller horse tagging along semi happily behind.

Why ? Because the rider’s skull is a thermos and his brain sweats. Why ? Because the punishing sun takes no prisoners and sizzles a belt buckle enough to seriously fry an egg. Why ? Because this is a land where no man  belongs at the wrong time of day during the wrong season of the year. Why ? It’s too late to ask why, but to just know for the sake of historians and lineage alike that a great abundant of Irish cowboys settled it nicely here and begat extended families with their Mexican brides or grooms of their choosing and flourished beside the stately saguaro… and still do to this day.”

NYC-based singer-songwriter and producer – ADE – has shared “One Of Us”, his final track under his current moniker.

Unravelling like a faded velvet curtain lowered at the end of a high-brow theatre performance or the end credits rolling at the end of a fuzzy ‘80s film, “One Of Us” marks a cinematic and synthy final chapter for the alt-pop artist.

A slo-mo and celestial pop ballad that fuses expansive instrumentals with climactic ‘60s rock inflections, Ade explains of the story behind the track:

“”One Of Us” is a little slice of life — an obviously bad date that results in a one night stand despite our participants’ better judgement, and the paranoia and moral hangover that ensues.”

As premiered by XS Noize, the track also arrives alongside a sardonic official video fit for the silver screen. Directed by Willem Holzer, the video stars Ade as a troubled bingo-caller alongside “all [my] friends in our little community in NYC” including Sasha FrolovaKareem Rahma and Tor Miller.

One Of Us” also arrives as the final release under the Ade moniker and, while the track may signify the end of an era for the artist, he isn’t turning the page on music-making quite yet. He adds:

The latest single, “Holy Sh*t I Love You,” was born out of a cataclysmic heartbreak that resulted in two albums worth of material.

“Hoping to make sense of a breakup, I attempted to write a classic lyric in the style of Paul Simon, but being in a dark place, the lyric came out with a much different tone and with the end reflecting a darker Bonnie & Clyde-esque journey,” Ryder says. “It ended up being a murder ballad I didn’t intend to write, reflecting the delusional brand of love I once had. It wasn’t a story I needed to tell but an emotion I needed to share.”
