The Review: The Super Powered and Pawfect ‘PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie’

A decade of “PAW Patrol” has given us thrilling adventures, lovable characters, and endless merchandise. From TV screens to the silver screen, “PAW Patrol: The Movie” expanded the franchise, maintaining its valuable lessons and toy appeal. Now, with “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” the stakes are higher, creativity soars, and it steps up to a PG rating while delivering a smart sequel suitable for all ages.

In Adventure City, our elite PAW Patrol, led by Ryder, takes on three enthusiastic trainees. But lurking in the shadows is the villainous Victoria Vance, whose plan to harness a meteor’s power puts everyone at risk. As Vance and the pups discover the meteor’s crystals grant super abilities, a threat to their existence emerges.

While reminiscent of its predecessor, this sequel explores new character arcs. Skye’s self-doubt due to her size is handled differently, as is Liberty’s struggle to find her purpose and power. These emotional storylines are woven in with finesse.

The action sequences are exhilarating, showcasing the team’s unity and character development. The films has a huge cast that includes Mckenna Grace, Taraji P. Henson, Kristen Bell, Lil Rel Howery, and Jimmy Kimmel to name a few. With Mckenna Grace being one of my favourite actresses, anything she’s in I’m here for, and like always she shines as she takes the lead in this narrative. An honorable mention has to go to Kim Kardashian West, both her and her children voice characters, adding that family touch to the film. Composer Pinar Toprak’s score enhances the experience, while the visuals, including even the intricate parts of the picture, are dazzling.

Overall, “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” is fit for the whole family, and while it might not be one of this years major studio blockbusters, it does manage to skillfully repackage this beloved franchise for a new generation.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie is in cinemas now!
