Dare Taylor is a 24 year old nerd next door, with a passion for everyday fashion and Cosplay. She is most commonly known online for her bikini modeling, silly cosplays, and her down to earth personality. Her breakout moment is when The New York Post wrote about her time as a princess working for the Walt Disney World company. Currently she wrote the song “Retail Therapy ” that’s available to stream on all platforms and is starting in an upcoming independent film titled “Rain.” Dare is an all around triple threat with her singing, acting and goofy personality.

Can you tell us about your journey from portraying Princess Jasmine at Disney World to becoming an emerging artist and screenwriter?

It truly is a journey. When I was 18, that was my dream. I was lucky enough to accomplish my dream so quickly, I was trained in two very unique roles while I was working for the Walt Disney World company. Then I even learned the iconic day parade and the Fantasmic show – I truly felt so blessed to have accomplished so much while there. But I had a feeling this was not the acting I was set out to do, I felt a bigger calling to write my own stories and help others tell theirs through the art of acting on camera. You can truly impact way more people now than ever with social media and I can’t wait to keep continuing my journey.

What inspired you to explore music, and how did you come up with the idea for your hit song “Retail Therapy”?

I just filmed a “get ready with me” on this exact moment so you are getting the exclusive story first! I sang my whole life but rarely advertised it. But I was singing in a karaoke bar, just a local dive bar and after I was done singing a woman approached me. She asked what I did for a living and I told her that I am a social media creator and actress. She then looked up my Instagram and walked away, then before the bar closed I got to sing one final song and she came up to me again after and told me I should really pursue writing my own music. She said I sang incredibly well live and could land more acting roles with my singing. Turns out this was the mother of Dylan Conrique, and she told me her daughter started off on TikTok and popped off when she wrote her own music. This woman checked in on me once and I kinda wonder if she saw my recent music video. But take away with this is… if you are inspired to compliment someone, GIVE THAT COMPLEMENT! You can change lives with your words. And I am proof.

Could you share some insights into your upcoming independent film “Rain”? What can viewers expect from it?

I do want to correct some of the rumors about this fiIm although I can’t share a lot. This project isn’t mine, I was auditioned and cast by the director, and I am the lead actress in this project. But it’s a dark drama about a young cam woman who gets seduced by a young socialite and they go through romance that will leave you feeling enticed.

You’re known for your cosplay and everyday fashion. How do these interests influence your creativity and personal style?

Cosplay gave me the freedom of dressing the polar opposite of who I am and it challenged my street wear style completely.  I used to dress very colorful and almost mish-mash all the time, but now I am into neutrals and different fit of clothing. Plus, I love the style where women on red carpets are wearing the tiniest clothing and I WANT IN! Like wearing feathers as tops, and higher slits in evening gowns! I love the body positivity movement and showing more skin despite the crazy tabloids.  I truly am in need to go shopping and get some more shocking clothes but keep an eye out for my next clothing evolution!

What do you enjoy most about interacting with your online audience, and how has your down-to-earth personality played a role in connecting with fans?

Truly, I love the connection, them telling me that I inspired them to cosplay, or be actors! I love that they feel like they can pop into my live streams and tell me about their auditions!

The New York Post featured your time as a Disney princess. Can you share a memorable experience or lesson from that chapter of your career?

Yes, I have so many fond memories from working there. My favorite was being able to say I worked the same theme park and show as my mom! So I would be performing on stage and could see her in the crowd. I do feel like Disney taught me responsibility and taking accountability for myself.  I was so young having this job where I had to represent myself and Disney’s iconic characters every day. I couldn’t be tired, or off. I had to put my best foot forward for every interaction and I got recognized a lot by guests for my interactions with them. BUT I learned how to clock in and set aside the outside world and make magic as a job and I truly cherish every magical moment.

How do you balance your singing, acting, and screenwriting pursuits, and what challenges have you encountered along the way?

It’s truly a circus act! I have a really strict weekly schedule filled with vocal lessons, acting classes, filming’s, and even working out with a personal trainer. But I set aside time to write, and check in with my emotions and use that to create the art I want to put out in the world. I am currently falling in love with the many sides of myself and I wrote my own short film about loving yourself and I can’t wait to submit that to film festivals. But truly, when you are multitalented the world tells you to pick one thing and be the best at it… but I disagree. I love when people are multifaceted and take the time to celebrate all their skills!

Can you share some details about your upcoming projects or future aspirations in the entertainment industry?

I am writing, producing, and acting in a short film that I am submitting into film festivals. I am working on a Christmas song… I really want to make more music. I’d love to tour with my music, write a book about not caring about what people think of you, changing your perspective on yourself and changing your public image. And if someone had a show they needed a spunky cosplaying singer I would totally still continue to  audition.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists and performers looking to pursue a multifaceted career like yours?

I would tell them to go for it and really set small goals for yourself. Leading yourself up to the big goals, like I didn’t write a song overnight. I started by singing covers, singing publicly, making music videos of covers, then making my own music.

In “Retail Therapy,” you touch on relatable themes. How important is it for you to connect with your audience through your music?

Extremely important! Music is art and art brings us all together. I’m actually writing a song that I think will be a great message for the cosplay community. I really want people to not only enjoy the sound of my music, but also make them think about perspective. We forget in the rush of the day that we have such impact and influence on people around us. I personally feel like compassion is missing in day to day life and I hope my music can inspire us to stop and think before we act.

Thank you for these extremely in depth questions! I am blown away by how unique and diverse these ALL were! So thank you so much for taking the time to look me up, create unique questions and really allow me to talk.
