Princess Goes, the trio led by the charismatic showmanship and signature voice of vocalist, lyricist, musician and actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under, Lazarus) alongside keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen (Blondie, Cyndi Lauper) and drummer Peter Yanowitz (The Wallflowers, Morningwood), have released the cinematic official video for their new single “BLUR”. Watch here.
It’s the second track to be taken from their highly anticipated sophomore full-length album, ‘Come Of Age’, which arrives on 6 October via the SO In De Goot label.
With artful visuals directed by the award-winning Tim Richardson (Sir Elton John, Billie Eilish), the official video finds Michael C. Hall stuck in a black hole as he croons these haunting lyrics “At best I’m but a blur, if you remember me at all. Fuzzy memories playing on your basement VCR. Found the final payphone, dropped my change and made the call. Picked up – whispered last room on the left. End of the hall.”
“‘BLUR’ opens with a classic Juno-106 synth drone, evoking the early 80’s, flirting with the finality of its own fruition as layers of more synth, bass guitar and drums reveal themselves,” says Matt Katz-Bohen. “Michael’s poignant, aching lyrics and melody go from soft to epic, culminating in an MGMT/Human League chorus of loving synth transcendence: Baby I’m full grown now.”
Crafting a sound all their own that vividly comes to life on stage during their captivating, hypnotic and impassioned live performances, the band have also announced a UK Headline Tour which kicks off on 26 September in Manchester.
‘Come Of Age’ is the trio’s most accessible, yet innovative, work to date, replete with songs that traverse a thrilling and often surprising sonic and lyrical landscape. There’s a clear cohesiveness to the 12 songs on the album (full tracklisting can be found below) that manage to be all at once catchy and intoxicating, soundtrack-y musicscapes for the ages, synth-heavy but multi-faceted. The musical growth on ‘Come Of Age’ was organic, and though onstage and on paper they are a keyboards-drums-vocals band, this album is rife with guitar and bass, instruments that play a bigger role than on previous recordings. The band’s evolution is ongoing and often unearthly, spacy and provocative in the vein of Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ (David Bowie personally cast Hall to play the lead role of Thomas Newton in his final stage project – ‘Lazarus’ on Broadway).
The album’s first single, “Shimmer”, highlights Michael C. Hall’s powerful, ethereal vocals atop quietly propulsive rhythm lines, and features Stephen Trask (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as guest guitarist. Like “BLUR”, The track’s equally stunning and expansive video was also directed and dreamed-up by the creative mind of Tim Richardson (Elton John, Billie Eilish, Givenchy, Nike), and reflects an enigmatic journey through a virtual, video game-esque landscape of Michael’s memories with the feel of Tron or Ready Player One. Watch the “Shimmer” video here.
Over the past few years, the New York City-based trio has been touring, recording, and self-producing and released the self-titled EP in April 2020 and a full-length debut, ‘THANKS FOR COMING’, in 2021. Sold out tours throughout the US,UK, and Ireland have found new fans clamouring to see the eclectic band, and a flood of media attention followed. The Associated Press lauded the lineup’s “mix of glam, dreamy ‘80s New Wave, acoustic folk, Nine Inch Nails intensity,” while Billboard noted their “palpable theatricality.” Hall, Katz-Bohen and Yanowitz are seasoned performers forging new creative ground together in Princess Goes: Hall may be well-known for playing moralistic serial killer Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s hit series Dexter as well as David Fisher in HBO’s revered Six Feet Under, but he’s been singing and performing his whole life – commanding the stage with his presence as a frontman. Katz-Bohen has played with Blondie since 2008, while Yanowitz is a veteran of The Wallflowers and his own group, Morningwood.

27/09 – Cardiff, UK – The Globe
28/09 – Birmingham, UK – O2 Institute 2

Electronic R&B’s heartthrob duo, DRAMA, producer Na’el Shehade and vocalist/songwriter Via Rosa, return to release their confidently self-titled single, ‘DRAMA.’ It’s the third track off the duo’s highly anticipated EP, Till We Die, dropping later this Fall. The newest single ‘DRAMA’ demonstrates Shehade and Rosa’s sonic range with their fun immersion of genres, in retrospect to their previously released records ‘Tighten It Up’ and ‘Feel The Same.’
The single ‘DRAMA’ is an infectious spur to action that plays around with funky house beats by Shehade complimented by Rosa’s sassy, fun lyrics. The positively self-titled single is undeniably a clubbable track, guaranteed to ignite body-moving dance explosions.
Over the years, DRAMA has refused to be musically categorized, relentlessly breaking musical barriers by freely crossing over and blending R&B/electronic genres as heard in their previous projects. The powerhouse team has demonstrated their ability to seamlessly crossover genres as seen from their dynamic performances at major festivals like Coachella and Lightning in a Bottle this past year. The pair’s high energy, but cool sets and all-too-relatable lyrics have undeniably continued to win the duo a myriad of fans on and off the dance floor across North America.
On the single, DRAMA comments — “This self-titled anthem is for anyone in their ‘this is what I need in order to love properly’ era, those of us who are entering the humble yet confident ‘of course they’re going to love me, I’m amazing’ stage of our lives. It’s a reminder to ourselves that we don’t have to accept love from people who don’t know how to love us, we’re no longer afraid of not being wanted. THIS is what the girls dream of, someone who knows how to love them. The song itself lyrically was inspired by our live performances and the things that one would see during a DRAMA show – looking out at the crowd and seeing everyone enjoying themselves, you get accustomed to what the energy feels like when we’re all moving together. It’s not up to just one of us, but all of us to create the perfect atmosphere for everyone to have a good time.”
The Lightning Struck is an indie rock band from Toronto. To watch the Lightning Struck is to be transported to New York’s Lower East Side, sometime between ’69 and ’91. Listen carefully – you can hear the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, the Ramones and Television.
The Lightning Struck’s sound didn’t happen by accident. In 2000 Loren moved to New York City after listening to the Velvet Underground and Nico one too many times.
After 20 years of making music there, Loren returned to Toronto, bringing the New York sound with him. In the spring of 2022, he started the Lightning Struck with old friends Michael Milanetti and Blitz, and they were soon joined by Aussie expat drummer Liam Baidon.
Theo Tams has reached the stature of a bona fide music veteran by now, but he’s also at the beginning of something new.
The Canadian singer, songwriter, and performer has been playing since his teens and releasing music for the past 15 years. He has three albums and three EPs to his credit, along with a formidable collection of singles and…oh yeah, that championship run on the sixth season of Canadian Idol in 2008. Tams has put together a body of work that’s substantial and diverse. It speaks of an artist whose mission is growth and adventure — building upon his proverbial laurels, rather than sitting on them.
With each step, Tams has made a stride forward, and sometimes even further. That’s certainly been true of the past few years, particularly with the series of three-song Trilogy EPs he’s embarked on, with the third just arriving and taking him into even more new sonic and lyrical terrain.
“I think I’ve just gotten a lot more unapologetic in the process,” Tams, who lives in Toronto with his partner and their 11-year-old daughter, explains. “The biggest thing I notice when I listen back to the music that I’ve released before is I had no clue who I was or what I stood for. I really was just trying to check the boxes of what I thought made an artist, realizing that by doing that I wasn’t checking any of them. I was living up to this veneer, this shiny, perfect kind of image I felt like I created, and I don’t think that’s life. Life is messy and it’s hard, no matter who you are or where you’re from or what your background is.
“That’s what my music needed to reflect for me to really feel like an artist. So my whole new approach in music has been an exercise of saying ‘yes’ and allowing myself to do whatever I think is right.”
UK pop sensation Griff returns with her new single, “Vertigo.” Intimate, cinematic, and uplifting, the track is an undeniable return from the rising star, who just wrapped up a European stadium tour supporting Coldplay where she debuted the song live and has been teasing online.
“’Vertigo’ refers to an emotional state — always feeling upside down,” Griff explains. “Experiencing love and growing up, it always feels like the world and my emotions are spinning faster than I can keep up with. ‘Vertigo’ is the beginning of a new creative chapter for me, and I’m excited for us all to go on this journey together.”
Lockdown mixtape One Foot In Front of The Other rocketed Griff to pop stardom whilst stuck in her bedroom. The barrier-breaking project won her the prestigious BRITS Rising Star award and two NME Awards. To date, she has amassed over 660M streams in support of homemade hits like “Black Hole” and “Head on Fire,” andhas been invited to tour with some of the world’s biggest artists (Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Florence + the Machine).
Pop singer/songwriter Malek Hanna debuts his infectious new single, “Which Way To Go,” on September 12, 2023. The Lebanese American artist, hailing from Brooklyn, New York, began his career in the church as the youngest lead soloist. Throughout the years, he’s performed on many stages, including for the Pope at the Vatican, the National Anthem for the LA Lakers, and on The Voice — Arabia. His stint on The Voice provided the exposure needed to launch his music career, and the multi-cultural music showcase, Mélange, focused on highlighting other independent artists. The “Which Way To Go” music video, directed by Monique Impagliazzo and starring TikTok star Devon Weetly, was selected for the Philadelphia’s Women Film Festival and will release alongside the single.
On his new song, “Which Way To Go,” Hanna explores the power of taking the road less traveled. Written and arranged alongside Jeff Stolper, the elusive track examines the courage it takes to stand in your own power and follow your heart despite outside forces trying to dissuade you. Powerhouse vocals and a pristine falsetto propel the piano-driven melody, a calm and collected ebb and flow of emotions that enrapture and entice. From the synthy undertones to a budding saxophone solo, the music builds to an incredible finish that leaves a lasting impression. On “Which Way To Go,” Hanna continues to solidify his reputation as an impeccable vocalist and magnetic performer.
“In a world where strength is encouraged, and expression of feeling has been painted as the opposite of strength, I’m over here arguing that one cannot exist without the other,” says singer, songwriter and musician Beck Pete when approached about what motivates her unapologetically honest demeanor.
As a woman who understands the complexity of extremes, the songwriter creates music to show all sides of the human experience, to remind her listeners that two seemingly opposing things can be true at once. Something can be both beautiful and heartbreaking, morally questionable and incredible to live through, or masculine and also so purely feminine. Sonically, Beck Pete captures this through combining soaring, soft, often sweet sounding background vocals and playful melodies with tangible rough textures and growling megaphone lead vocal doubles, for a cathartic and emotionally enveloping listen.
Beck Pete’s new single “BITE DOWN” speaks to the extremism of human nature that Beck has herself oscillated between before embracing the duality that has seeped into her core as an artist. The honesty of the end of the hook that says “maybe I could drift between a little bit of sane and crazy, been both lately, changes daily” is sure to hit home for most of us, whether we like it or not! Not to mention that this message is delivered with a dangerously catchy melody that will be stuck in your head for days, or possibly even weeks.
The prolific singer/songwriter can’t seem to resist creating music that is hooky and memorable. Not only does Beck Pete love pop music, she also understands that sometimes the truth is hard to stomach, and easier to consume when it feels good. She’s found a home somewhere to the left between alternative and pop genres, in an entirely oversaturated space, and still somehow has created a sound that is so uniquely warm, crisp, and experimental in a refreshingly palatable way, and dare we say it – cool.
Part 1 of Beck Pete’s album Scared Of Everything, released in 2022, has already garnered attention across streaming services with several notable editorial Spotify playlist placements as well as acclaim from a variety of media outlets including MTVU, Wonderland, NOTION, and Medium all enamored with her passionate, gritty approach to vulnerability.
“I just hope to tell stories in a way that impacts people. ‘Genre’ will wax and wane with what serves that story best, but one thing will stay consistent – I want to create a safe space to feel. Please don’t confuse this with me always making you comfortable or not surprising you. I hope to remind you that feeling is not just a positive thing, but also an inherent part of truly being alive. I hope to make you feel that, specifically — alive,” she proclaims.
Beck Pete has been making a name for herself for years in Los Angeles headlining and packing notable venues including The Hotel Cafe, The Echo, Moroccan Lounge and The Troubadour. Over the past few years, she has shared the stage with artists including DYLAN, whom she opened for at her sold out Mercury Lounge show, and JP Saxe, whom she co-headlined the Troubadour with.
Her music has further found its way into many TV shows including The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina which allowed the songwriter to garner many new fans, and boosted her song “Gently Break It” to nearly 1.5 million streams on Spotify. In the Summer and Fall of 2023, songs from Scared Of Everything will also be featured in the Apple TV Original Series Shelter and the upcoming film Singing In My Sleep.
Beck Pete will continue to release singles for Part 2 of her album Scared Of Everything throughout the remainder of 2023, so buckle up and prepare yourself for a few seasons of feeling, dancing and crying.
McKOWSKI, AKA Mark McCausland (The Lost Brothers and The Basement), is pleased to present the new single: “Ask The Dust”.
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE || STREAM HERE
The latest insight into his debut solo album ‘Notes From The Boneyard’ (out 22 September, via Deltasonic), finds the Irish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist colouring-in the fictional world of the Boneyard with an elegant, if eerie, new composition.
Taking its title from the John Fante novel of the same name, “Ask The Dust” is an alternate version of the Theme Song from an upcoming movie entitled ‘The Spin’ which McKowski has written the original story for and is currently composing the soundtrack for. Speaking about the upcoming film and “Ask The Dust”’s place within it, McKowski says:
“The movie is about two friends who own a failing record shop in a small town, and take a road trip in search of a priceless record that could be the answer to all their problems. If only it would go to plan… The alternate version of the theme presented here is a demented lullaby playing on a broken penny arcade machine, lost somewhere in an abandoned carnival.”
Shot in various forgotten carnivals around the world, the track is accompanied by a filmic official video which is available to watch now here:
“Ask the Dust” follows in the footsteps of recent single “Return of Pygmy Pony” (feat. Howe Gelb) which also originally stemmed from a movie (the Lily Gladstone starring sci-fi western ‘Quantum Cowboys’), plus earlier teaser track “Lake”; with all three tracks due to appear on McKowski’s upcoming LP ‘Notes From The Boneyard’. An ambitious set of ornately designed instrumentals, its ten tracks are intended to transport the listener on a dreamlike waltz through the semi-fictional world where McKowski dwells, known only as ‘The Boneyard.
Alongside its unique blend of acoustic guitars, strings, analog synths, and electronic toys, which all play into Mckowski’s haunting and evocative soundscapes; the album is also gifted with contributions from Steve Wickham (viola), Howe Gelb (guitar), Laura Mcafadden (cello), Dave Murphy (pedal steel), plus St Francis Hotel, who adds further elements of atmosphere and production.
Like the wooden beauty of Angelo Badalementi’s ‘Straight Story’ mixed with the dark synth undertones such as Carpenter-esque Moog; it’s the ideal companion for those pensive days and long nocturnal hours. Dappled with light and shade, eeriness and hopefulness, the familiar and not-so; expect a cinematic masterclass in instrumental storytelling when you enter ‘Notes From The Boneyard’. Set for release on 22 September 2023 on Deltasonic Records (The Coral, The Zutons), it will be available on ltd vinyl, cassette, cd, and digital, from all major platforms and retailers.
The Paper Kites have released their new album ‘At The Roadhouse’ today via Nettwerk Music Group, a sixteen-song collection that serves as a gripping ode to what waits for us on the winding paths of love, loss, acceptance and wanderlust.
Recorded among the red dirt and bushfire moons of Campbells Creek – a remote village outside their native Melbourne – the journey to ‘At The Roadhouse‘ began with the five-piece working together to build the music venue of their dreams. Converting an old gold-mining supply shop into “The Roadhouse,” The Paper Kites began to craft the album during an unannounced and unadvertised residency; building on the DIY spirit that’s helped them continuously win over new fans one at a time – with remarkable results like a Platinum record in the US and over one billion Spotify streams to date.
“There were no expectations or pressure around the performances – just us and a small room full of people,” explains songwriter Sam Bentley of their residency at The Roadhouse. “The whole point was to try and connect with people and in turn develop a sense of community around the music – I think that’s what happened.”
The band have previously released enthralling footage of their ‘At The Roadhouse‘ live shows with performance videos for each of the album’s advance tracks, including “The Sweet Sound Of You,” “Till The Flame Turns Blue,” “Hurts So Good,” “Black & Thunder,” “I Don’t Want To Go That Way” and “June’s Stolen Car.” As No Depression noted in a recent album review, “anyone who steps into The Roadhouse — in person or via listening to the recording — can carry with them a light against the darkness.”
London-via-Türkiye pop force Selin keeps her foot on the gas with “LIGHTS OFF” –
a stunning new entry to her growing catalogue with Warner Music Türkiye.
A slice of vulnerable, smoky pop written by Selin with Oscar Bell (Beren Olivia,
Phoebe AXA, Debbie), “LIGHTS OFF” takes shape as a powerfully emotive moment
which faces the reality of having to close the door on a doomed love – brought to life
by the raspy textures of Selin’s beautifully rich vocals and her signature creative
wordplay.
Speaking about “LIGHTS OFF”, Selin made the following statement: “In “LIGHTS
OFF”, I’ve tried to capture the feeling of watching two people slowly grow apart,
realizing that the relationship doesn’t fit anymore. Sometimes, the mature choice is
to end things rather than forcing them to continue, no matter how difficult it might be.
Unfortunately in this case, I had to turn the lights off.”
“LIGHTS OFF” is the latest in a series of bilingual gems from Selin as the pop riser
continues to tease her forthcoming debut album PARANOIA: “IMMA LIAR”, a fiery pop-rock production which hears Selin artistically blend her Turkish heritage via
traditional Turkish instruments, dramatic drum rolls and rockstar guitar licks; as well
as the sweeping viral ballad “LOVERS HURRICANE”, about a lost love affair which
didn’t get the fairy-tale ending it perhaps deserved and saw strong editorial support
by way of Wonderland.
Additionally, Selin has continued to relish in an unprecedented viral moment via the
surprise success of “Yalancı Bahar” from her recent Nostalgia Sessions covers EP;
racking up over 8M streams and counting on Spotify alone, the release is also
climbing Spotify’s Global Viral Chart where it currently sits at #12 on Global Viral, as
well as #14 on Turkey Daily.
Attracting attention with her viral success, global releases and recent high-profile
performances including the UEFA Championships, Selin is fast becoming a key
name to watch – and with her debut US tour now officially booked for October to take place across LA, Austin, San Antonio and Houston, Selin proves herself to be an
exciting global prospect who is consistently winning over fans with her sensational
powerhouse vocals and dynamic stage presence. Tickets for Besties Tour 2023

Brooklyn-based alt-pop artist Birthh shares her cinematic, kaleidoscopic third studio album Moonlanded out everywhere now. Alongside the full project, Birthh shares the acoustic, hopeful track “Supercharged” out now. The dynamic, genre-bending LP is a culmination of Birthh’s own process of self-discovery and growth as she envisions the person she wishes to become.
The Odyssean, vibrant LP Moonlanded out today, invites listeners into Birthh’s world, where she revisits her childhood in the Tuscan countryside after unexpectedly starting a new life in Brooklyn. “When COVID hit it just felt like it was gonna be over in a couple months, I ended up not going back home for 2 and a half years. A lot of life happened in that timespan.” Over ten tracks, the rising alt-pop artist makes space for herself to begin to process the life-altering last three years, who she is now, and who she wishes to become. Birthh calls the project “warm, open, and ambitious” and adds, “This is my journey into what it feels like to be a sensitive human in their 20s in the 2020s, through all the pressure coming from within and from the world we were left with. Landing is finding a way to stay present and to love the process, it’s about creating space for ourselves and realizing that each of us is the protagonist in our own story.”
Moonlanded was written, recorded, and produced alongside collaborator London O’Connor in Birthh’s apartment studio, appropriately named The Moonbase. Never one to shy away from emotions, Birthh proudly wears her heart on her sleeve throughout the project, discovering what it means to truly be alive today. Birthh says, “We feel so much and so deeply. We feel the triumph of being alive as much as we feel the struggle that comes with it. All at once.” She adds, “This album is my mom. It’s my dad. It’s my love. It’s my home. It’s the grounding force of gravity and the dreams of escaping it.”
“Supercharged,” out today with the full project, sets a promising, dreamy tone that instantly whisks listeners away into Birthh’s warm sonic universe. When Birthh first moved to New York City, she had little money and no job prospects, but knew she needed to figure it out–with music leading the way. Not long after, Moonlanded began to take shape, and “Supercharged,” the project’s opening track, is an ode to this very feeling and moment in time– as Birthh puts it, “Making life through music just as much as it is about making music through life.”
The track’s melody mingles with real field recordings throughout New York, phone calls, voicemails and more which plays into both the dreaminess of pursuing music as well as the pressure and hardship it brings. Birthh adds, “Incorporating life into the beat itself builds a space where the ambitious, serene, dreamy landscape that lives within feeling close to my life’s purpose can coexist with the intensity and friction I feel.” After being forced to grow up quickly, the track also inspired Birthh to reflect on the people and events that got her to where she is today. Birthh reveals this inner turmoil, and the slices of hope that come with it, stating, “I feel the urgency to move forward, to not make the same mistakes my parents made, to be the things they can’t be. This song is me taking the leap hoping I’ll learn how to fly before hitting the ground.”

Gripping from start to finish, ‘Miracle’ is an alluring blend of melodic techno and synth-pop that finds the sweet spot between Adriatique’s dance roots and WhoMadeWho’s pop sensibilities.
“Good things come to those who wait“ is normally not the right quote when making music but in the case of Miracle it is true. This was one of the projects which had given us an immediate excitement but ultimately it took time to make it what it is today. Thanks to the very talented WhoMadeWho and everyone involved in this collaboration.” – Adriatique

Nothing seems to work/But at least we tried
I know you’re out there/Living your best life
Now that you’ve moved on/My heart has got no home

It’s a song about two people going their separate ways, and the flood of feelings one deals with from that process,” says Seabaugh. “Everybody is continually changing every day and I hope this song connects with people in their own seasons of growth, loss, and life.”
“I Miss Who You Were” showcases Seabaugh’s musical growth and vulnerability as he reflects on the evolution of a once solid relationship. The song captures the poignant feelings of longing for someone who has changed, while simultaneously mourning the loss of what once was.

Sweet Imperfections is the musical project of singer songwriter Bri Schillings. Bringing a sense of healing, wonder and adventure, her music oozes a richness through her sultry, soulful voice, creating something that she describes as sensual indie rock.
Having felt a connection and energy between nature and sound since she was just a child, Schillings followed this magnetic pull, exploring a plethora of instruments along the way and unlocking a secret door to a magical world where she felt safe, understood, beautiful, inspired, and where she learned what love was.
Her latest single “Ignorance is Violence” is a thought-provoking, hopeful anthem that inspires change. Written during a road trip in 2021, Schillings was in shock by the lingering smoke from the devastating wildfires that ravaged California. She witnessed the effects of our ignorance around the pressing subject of climate change and the violence of our ignorance we were experiencing first hand. The lyrics, “smoke filled air covering the earth everywhere we go, it feels like the whole world is getting ready to explode,” sets the tone for the inspiring single, as the wailing guitar line cries for help. With a driving beat, the song ebbs and flows, injecting us with hope and determination to make a change. Hoping to raise awareness of climate change, Schillings urges “Ignorance is Violence” to inspire individuals and groups to take action to counter the impacts of climate change. Schillings shares, “On top of experiencing first hand the hottest summer recorded, breathing smoke from the fires, we felt a weight of frustration and recognized our responsibility to take a stand. We had recently watched Greta Thunberg’s documentary “I am Greta” which inspired us to use a clip from one of her speeches during the outro of the song.”
With her music finding inspiration from life, adversity, love and nature, Schillings’ seductive and powerful voice will hold you in a warm embrace and take you on a journey where the heart and the soul meet. The songwriter shares, “I write about things I feel strongly about. Real stories. Real narratives. Songs with spirit in them. Songs with solutions. Songs with questions. I see the power music has to influence and bring attention to current events and create movements.”
Let “Ignorance is Violence” be the message we need to make a change, for our actions today shape the world of tomorrow.
Pioneering a captivating blend of groovy melodies, skillful instrumentals, and evocative vocals, rising jazz pianist and singer-songwriter Alan Chang has released his highly anticipated album, Check Please, a story of finding for himself. Chang’s artistry comes alive in a remarkable showcase of talent and emotion, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey. Check Please is available now to stream and download worldwide.
“It took me a long time to find a sound that speaks to as many of my influences and strengths,” says Chang. “I finally started writing for my voice while blending my years of foundation in jazz piano and my love for songs.”
He consistently displays his ability to be multifaceted in this album. Check Please conveys intriguing and real-life messages through immense storytelling and was completed with the help of an all-star lineup. There are notable collaborations from artists like bassist Pino Palladino (The Who, John Mayer, Blake Mills), David Koz, and Inara George, as well as Russell Elevado (D’Angelo, Common, The Roots) who mixed half the album. The first half of the album was also produced by Ryan Lerman (Scary Pockets, Lizzy McAlpine), while the second half of the album was produced by Chang and Adam Greenholtz. Besides the lyrical inspiration, Check Please is reminiscent of 2000s pop music and has a calming and friendly jazzy feel. The lighthearted piano motifs, the walking pace of the drums, and the layered vocals in choruses all contribute to making this album a personal listening experience, transporting listeners into Chang’s mind.
The album’s lead single, “Love As A Weapon,” delves into the complexities of partnerships and friendships, inspired by Chang’s personal journey of transitioning from a 19-year collaboration with Michael Bublé. The track’s poignant lyrics are complemented by a distinctly jazzy and pop-infused composition, evoking a sense of reflection and vibrancy. “Aperitif,” the eighth track on this album, is a beautiful and short groove to continue this dynamic record. This instrumental track is a breath of fresh air as it showcases mesmerizing piano melodies and simple drums to make the listener feel at home. “Let’s Not Come Down,” the third track on the album, encapsulates the multi-faceted talent that shapes Check Please. The vocal collaboration with Inara George and blissful production creates a song of anticipation, inspiring a heartwarming atmosphere that conveys a hug. The jazzy piano riffs and the harmonies of their voices together help create a message of enlightenment and peacefulness. Strong lyrics help tell a story
of not wanting to come down from a sentimental feeling. Check Please is full of irresistible and graceful tracks, leaving listeners wanting to hear more.

Kenyan-born, Los Angeles-based Xenia Manasseh takes listeners on a
rollercoaster of love’s uncertainty with her eagerly-awaited debut album
‘Love/Hate Pt. 1’. The 11-track masterpiece is delicate, yet fierce, woven with
raw and vulnerable lyrics that just begs to be heard from top to bottom.
The album opens with “GI’s Intro” , a soft, soulful Swahili song Intro that
features Xenia’s grandfather, Edgar Manasseh. They harmonize and bond over
a Swahili composition by Luka Tututu from the Coast Province, where Xenia’s
family comes from, a prelude that sets the tone for the emotional
rollercoaster that follows.
“All the songs are special to me because they all came from me, they’re all my feelings on a page
or in a song and the creation of all songs is sentimental to me. But I will single out GI’s intro that
is with my grandfather, Edgar Manasseh, GI is his nickname. That was done this year and was
extremely sentimental and emotional because he has influenced so much of my musical journey.
I can think of days when I was growing up he would teach me how to play things on the piano
and his music collection is incredible.” – Xenia Manasseh
Indie rock band Hot Freaks are thrilled to release their new single “Stuart Little Vibes” that is out now.
“Stuart Little Vibes” “is the fourth single they have released that is featured on their new album Hot Freaks Forever to be released on September 15. The released singles “Let’s Start a Country”, “Boyfriend” and Together Above” are out now as well.
IN support of the new music the band also announced new tour dates as support to The Happy Fits and Windser. See all tour dates below.
Like remembering how to ride a bike, the Freaks have effortlessly returned to full form, prepping a forthcoming tour with the Happy Fits with fresh jams uncovered from ancient times circa 2013, and new compositions from the present day.
Sophomore smash, HOT FREAKS FOREVER, ironically named for a band that once broke up, or perhaps presciently named for a fated comeback, is a jubilant addition to the Freaks’ discography that feels like a victory lap. Tapping into their long history, these 10 new tracks collect unreleased early works along with freshly minted music perfectly embodying their signature, high gloss dancy disco pop, with radiant notes of MGMT, Of Montreal, the Carpenters, and Mitski.
Lead single, LET’S START A COUNTRY, is one example of an unearthed artifact from the band’s earlier days. A treasure from a time capsule, having gestated for about 10 years, the infectious synth pop serenade has finally “found its home” as frontman Leo Vondracek puts it. Floating an unusual proposition, the track resurrects Hot Freaks’ familiar sound mixing toe-tapping disco beats with tongue-in-cheek sincerity. Kicking off with a fun little “whoo!” LET’S START A COUNTRY imagines a vegetarian utopia where lovers “living in a vacuum” start a country as easy as “one two three,” yet once the song’s narrator does “a little research” it “turns out you can’t just do this type of thing/ in fact it’s kinda regulated.” Despite the harsh light of reality, Hot Freaks’ uniquely catchy qualities, percussively perfect shakers, and preciously earnest handclaps, weave a wonderfully daydreamy ode to the romantic ideal of escaping into the paradise of a person you love more than the whole wide, and unfortunately real, world.
Charlotte North Carolina rising singer-songwriter Jewels, enchants fans the launch of her much anticipated newest EP, Galaxy Baby via QE. This stellar 6-track EP navigates the deepest spaces of love, mining an astronomical array of emotions showcasing the high and the lows of relationships. Jewels weaves her unique vocal delivery and lyrical flows with upbeat tempos taking listeners on a journey of vulnerability. With one of the fastest growing fan bases, Jewels video views have recently surpassed +6M and her Tik Tok followers now exceed +1.5M. Standout tracks of “Galaxy Baby”: “Back 2 U,” “Fake Flowers,” and “Mending Fences” captivate, showcasing Jewels’ otherworldly talent and boundless creativity.
Of the project Jewels says, “I want my fans to feel their real raw emotions come to the surface. Whether they are happy, sad, mad, excited, there’s a song on the project for each and every feeling.”
It hurts when you watch someone you love hurt. You wish you could help them bear the pain, and reassure them they are loved no matter their struggles.
That’s what I wrote my song “The One” about. I wanted to reassure that person that it’s okay to hurt, it’s okay to be human, I will still love you for you and I will be here for you, and hope that that person feels the same for me.
Listen to “The One” on streaming platforms everywhere.
I enlisted the help of Canadian rock/pop producer Ben Kaplan to bring “The One” to life. I didn’t want to hold myself back by putting any rules or limitations on the creation of this song, I just wanted to sing from the heart and let whatever happened, happen.
It’s from my forthcoming EP called Lovable, which sums up this batch of songs pretty well I’d say. We are all lovable, and they are written from a place of peace, happiness, love or wanting to make a relationship work.
Thanks for listening,
