On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen confirmed that Disney has reached out to him and Tom Hanks about reprising their roles as Buzz Lightyear and Woody for Toy Story 5. Fallon asked Allen if it was still in the works in which he responded; “Bob Iger, head of Disney, said that [Toy Story 5] was on. He actually said that it was going to happen,” Allen said. “They have reached out to Tom [Hanks] and I to reprise the roles. They’re not saying anything about it.”
He continued, “What it is, for people like me, it’s just like I’m a sci-fi buff. You wonder if four was too many, is five going to be too much? According to the scuttlebutt, the writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones. He said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ So it could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”
