UK-based Psych-pop newcomer Kieran Ivy dropped his funk-inspired new single, “Get out my house” via 10K Projects. Get it HERE.

Following the resounding success of his recent tracks “Evidence” and“Lightning” the Nottingham-based DIY artist is back with his swinging, funk track “Get out my house.” Inspired by funk acts such as Thundercat, the new track features a classic, slapping bassline dancing with a swinging drum rhythm, creating a laid back, nostalgic vibe made for late night car rides and smoke breaks. Kieran’s unique blend of psychedelic rock, garage rock, and pop melodies collide into a vivid snapshot acting as the anthem for the cool kids.

While Kieran Ivy started his journey in music working with Soundcloud rap scene such as Taz Taylor of Internet Money, he’s no stranger to 70’s inspired sonic experiences citing psych-rock and 00s rock as some of his inspirations. Growing up in the U.K. he’s extremely influenced by the diverse rock genres that blossomed across the pond.

Continuing his boldest and biggest chapter yet, multiplatinum R&B iconoclast, style icon, and entrepreneur Brent Faiyaz uncovers a gripping music video for his fan favorite new record, “Upset” [feat. Tommy Richman & FELIX!], out now. Listen to Larger Than Life HERE.

Directed by LONEWOLF, the action-packed visual finds the trio in trouble with the law. Paced like an action flick with cinematic scope, the clip unfolds with the energy of an alternative R&B The Usual Suspects. Lie detector tests, mugshots, and smoky backrooms can’t stop BrentTommy, and FELIX! though. Set against a shadowy soundscape with emotionally charged vocals, the video elevates “Upset” to another level.

Tonight, these three titans will deliver what promises to be an unforgettable performance of the track on MTV’s Fresh Out Live at 5pm ET. He will also appear for an exclusive interview on the show. Be sure to tune in!

Not to mention, it earned critical acclaim. In addition to plugs from VarietyBillboard, and more, Pitchfork proclaimed, “He’s got the moody-yet-cool lane on lock, and it’s made him one of the most prominent men in R&B right now,” and Our Generation Music hailed, “Brent Faiyaz’s ability to make the world stop when he drops is unmatched – embodying the LARGER THAN LIFE energy the record gives at its core.”

SKRAM are a Wellington, New Zealand based band whose vibrant and energetic music provides an exploration of the journey of life and its many intricacies. SKRAM’s passionate epic pop sound is laced with rock and indie influence, brought together with a combination of emphatic vocals, dynamic rhythms and memorable melodies.

Their latest single “Serendripity” is a chaotic and fun experience and a total mood-booster. Oozing with confidence, the quirky track is a reminder to never forget the importance of your self-image and self-worth. “Serendripity” or ‘serendipitous drip,’ is the idea of wearing whatever you want, feeling safe and confident when venturing into the world. The act of wearing what you want, the “drip,” becomes a medium through which you express your unique identity and personality. “Serendripity” celebrates the freedom to make choices based on your own tastes, rather than conforming to societal expectations or trends.

Lead singer Henry Ashby shares, “The first time I put bright sparkly blue eyeliner on I had a war with myself, loving the way I looked but also being terrified of how others would judge me as a man wearing makeup. As I started to put myself out there more and explore my feminine side, I found I became more confident with my chaotic style, and I began to feel more comfortable actually expressing myself. Serendripity is a call out to people to help others feel like they can be whoever they want to be and wear anything they think is cool, even if it’s insane”SKRAM have streaming numbers in the hundreds of thousands, performed sold-out tours, featured in the NZ Charts and have an exciting festival-laden summer ahead. Rounding off a frightfully good year, HANNAH ROSE PLATT, prepares one last gift before 2023 is out.

A true nightmare before Christmas, Platt has paired her grizzly black comedy with an artfully animated video to match. Presenting… the official video for “The Wendigo Rag”.

WATCH “THE WENDIGO RAG” ANIMATED VIDEO
HERE

Bringing a whole new meaning to “driving home for Christmas”, “The Wendigo Rag” takes listeners behind the wheel of a road trip gone wrong, where an ill-judged left turn comes to test the boundaries of friendship versus survival. Brought to life in eye-popping fashion with expert modelling craft and stop-motion technique reminiscent of Tim Burton classics, you can watch the animated video by William Davies here.

Elaborating on the tale behind this cannibalistic Christmas caper, Hannah Rose Platt says:

“Wendigo rag is a grizzly festive dark comedy song about a road trip gone wrong, and the testing of boundaries between friendship vs survival…Beware the cry of the Wendigo folks, or you may be filled with a desire for more than your turkey or nut roast this year!”

Taken from her horror-themed recent album ‘Deathbed Confessions’ (out now on Xtra Mile Recordings), “The Wendigo Rag” is a swaggering goth-rock groover with shades of Nick Cave, to Tom Waits, or even The Cramps.

ROYALTY CAPES is pleased to present a special seasonal single: “This Christmas”.

A festive release laced with sleigh bells, solos, and thoughtful sentiments; all proceeds from the sales of the track will go towards the mental health charity MIND.

Speaking about the track, Ben Adey aka Royalty Capes says:

“I wanted to write something that captured the ‘other side’ of Christmas Time. A song that captures the feeling of the time of year, a song that captures the feeling of spending time apart from a loved one, a period of loneliness after a relationship, adjustment and the feeling of wanting to run away from all the usual tunes we associate with the advent period.

I was always drawn to the emotion in the older Christmas songs by Slade, Wham, Paul McCartney, Band Aid etc and so tried to capture a little bit of that essence in the song, as well as some chiming festive guitars, sleigh bells and harmonies.

Christmas isn’t wonderful for everyone, especially for those of us struggling with mental health problems. Donate £3, or whatever you feel so we can help raise funds for the vital services MIND provides.”

More information on the vital work MIND does can be found here: https://www.mind.org.uk

This Christmas” was written by Ben Adey, Mastered by Hippocratic Mastering, and Mixed & Produced by Tim Scott at Bakerland Studios, Leeds.

“We are really excited to come and play in the UK, we feel like the public will understand our music, our sense of humour and our style perfectly! Playing Post Punk with funky bass lines and 2nd degree lyrics in front of a British audience makes a lot of sense to us. Most of our inspiration and role models are from the UK. We can’t wait to perform our music there. It’s gonna be fun to Kill The Pain in a British manner!”

Kill The Pain is the meeting of minds between Phoebe Killdeer (Australian singer and songwriter of the international #1 hit “Fade Out Lines”), and French counterpart Melanie Pain (the unmistakable voice behind Nouvelle Vague).

Striking gold with an alchemic partnership, Kill The Pain’s work flits between futuristic antagonism and nostalgic hedonism. Chopping and splicing angular post-punk with elastic synth-pop, off-kilter funk and far-flung genres, listeners will hear reference points in Le Tigre to the Slits, the raw energy of ESG to the poetic musicality of Peggy Lee, the pent-up force of Patti Smith to the sardonic lyricism of Kim Gordon.

Bozeman, MT-based alt-Americana-tinged bluegrass outfit the Kitchen Dwellers are thrilled to share “Pendulum (V)” the second song to be released off the band’s forthcoming studio album Seven Devils – due out March 1, 2024, via No Coincidence Records.

“The groundwork for “Pendulum” came from observations within and around me of the concept of addiction replacement and my own interest in how dopamine and other hormones influence compulsion and decision-making in daily life,” explains Joe Funk.  “I’ve long had a theory that everyone has a baseline addictive tendency that must be satisfied, and it is up to the mind to decide at which point on the “good” and “bad” spectrum that habit is chosen.”

“Pendulum (V)” follows November’s release of the title track, “Seven Devils (Limbo)” which was accompanied by an official music video.

Her latest singles, “Rose Colored Lenses” and “What Ifs,” have enthralled audiences with their depth. Working with producers Seth Wentland, Brady Sossaman, and Claudia Mills, Jenny skillfully navigates the nuances of falling in love, showcasing her ability to convey the simultaneous euphoria and apprehension of new relationships. Her introspective lyrics, coupled with her vulnerable voice, resonate with listeners, offering solace in shared experiences.

Jenny Stenger has made a notable impact on the music scene, accruing positive press coverage from Ones to Watch, Grimy Goods, and Divine Magazine. Despite the challenges of leaving college, navigating changing friendships, and embracing his true self, the song underscores his journey of overcoming and thriving. Self-produced in collaboration with Owen Korzec and featuring Arabic instrumentation by Abanoub Samir on “plane thoughts,” Forever is a Scary Word presents an intimate glimpse into Isaak’s life and internal monologue, characterized by his distinctive vocals and delicate guitar patterns.

The new single was co-written with and produced by Mikal Blue (OneRepublic, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat) and Bret “Epic” Mazur (Crazy Town, Prince, The Black Eyed Peas).

“‘Eclipse’ is about my tendency to compare myself to others and the impact this has on my self-esteem,” Annabel says. “I would rather be concentrated on purpose than consumed by comparison despite how challenging it may be at times, especially given the ubiquitous nature of social media. This single showcases my desire to focus on my own path and nurture my inner confidence.”

In these songs we wanted to reflect the transformative power of these moments, showing that as we navigate them we may discover depth, purpose, and genuine connection.”

The highly anticipated EP is produced by Grammy Nominated Multi-Platinum Producer Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft (Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly). Leading single “In My Head” is a riveting emotional rollercoaster, with moody vocals atop gritty guitar riffs and intense pop punk sonics while in “Shooting Star”, Kid Prexy blends saccharine chords of ukulele, subtle currents of percussion, and a powerful vocal for a vibrant, pop-dipped rock escape. Prexy’s new single “I Think That You’re Pretty” is an anthemic, early 2000’s meets Gen Z ode to first lust that features a kaleidoscopic blend of annihilating guitars, soul-baring vocals, rich power chord basslines, and relentless, ferocious drumming.

rlyblonde – the project of Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist Carina Allen – reveals her new single & video, “Girl in Your Story.”

The B-side to her electrifying alt-rock anthem “Your Angel,” “Girl in Your Story” uncovers a more sincere and tender side to rlyblonde’s artistry. While a sonic contrast to her previous work, the dreamy rock ballad continues to expand on the themes of identity, femininity, and romance that she has long explored in both her music, photography, and videography.

“My artwork across various mediums has often played with ideas of female tropes and stereotypes. ‘Girl in Your Story’ continues that exploration of my own identity, through performance and by embodying these various characters,” she elaborates. “At the end of the day, behind every scorned woman is just a hopeless romantic. Nothing consumes quite like a crush…and while it was devastating to realize my tendency to fantasize was not limited to men, it was also a very affirming moment in my queer journey to realize I could imagine my life with another woman.”

The label’s name pays homage to Mink’s grandparents who lived on Cropsey Avenue. During the late 90s and early 2000s, Mink’s grandparents would frequently take him a few blocks away to Coney Island. It was there, on the boardwalk, that he was initially introduced to the infectious sounds of Louie Vega, Danny Tenaglia, and Todd Terry, among others. This experience ignited Mink’s passion for house music and became the cornerstone of his musical journey.

Speaking on the label’s first release, Mink said:

“I see this release having something for everyone across the world’s dancefloors, starting with NY & LDN. Happy to have this label’s first release with Azaad & myself. He’s one of my favorite producers on the come up. From our first conversation we shared a mutual respect for the scene and its amazing history. What better way to start Love On Cropsey”

McKowski – the solo alias of Mark McCausland (The Lost Brothers / The Basement) – has confirmed a surprise record for the festive season: ‘Winter Guitar Hymnals From The Boneyard’. Available now on Bandcamp, the record will be made available to hear on all streaming services next Friday (22 December) in time for Christmas.

The album is preceded by two singles, an original composition called “Laura’s Theme”, plus “Christmas Medley”, an atmospheric instrumental that borrows from Mendelssohn and other traditional pieces.

Melodic, melancholic, and dusted with a pinch of Christmas magic, McKowski continues his exploration of ‘the Boneyard’ with his ‘Winter Guitar Hymnals From The Boneyard’ release.

Hallmarked with a hushed, hymnal aura intended for those long winter nights, the Irish artist delivers nine pared-back instrumentals centred primarily around a six string acoustic, sparsely embellished with string sections and vocal harmonies.

Amongst its tracklist, listeners will find spacious renditions of traditional hymns (“Auld Lang Syne”, “Away In A Manger”, “Silent Night”, “Joy To The World”), McKowski originals worked in a festive style (“Bells of the Pygmy Pony”), an uplifting “Christmas Medley” that draws on the works of Mendelssohn and classical contemporaries, and even a Country & Western version of “White Christmas”. ‘Winter Guitar Hymnals…’ also features one brand new composition, “Laura’s Theme”, made available for the first time here. The album is dedicated to  ‘Blind Joe Death’ AKA the late American fingerstyle guitarist and composer John Fahey, whose “Red Pony” is also covered here.

Taking us inside his latest creation, McKowski says:

As winter takes hold and darkness falls, a candle light is glowing from the shack on Boneyard Hill. Inside, McKowski is playing a collection of guitar hymnals to warm the soul. Recorded in a single night, these songs are a homage to Blind Joe Death, and a stripped back ode to winter.

Along with solo renditions of Christmas classics, there’s a brand new composition, “Laura’s Theme”, a piece that was written for an upcoming movie score. This is an early live version of the song, with accompaniment from Laura McFadden on cello, who also lends her name to the title of the track… So sit back, put another log on the fire, and let McKowski’s Winter Guitar Hymnals from the Boneyard keep you sheltered from the cold dark nights ahead.

All tracks were played and recorded by McKowski at Boneyard Studios, except “Laura’s Theme”, “Return Of Pygmy Pony”, and “Red Pony”, which were recorded in the BBC’s Foyle Studio. Mixed by St Francis Hotel who creates a pin-drop atmosphere throughout, the record was mastered by Stephen Ceresia. Additional cello sections were added by Laura McFadden.

On the heels of their debut album release, Eighty Ninety – the indie-pop project of NYC-based brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James – give their fans one final gift for the year with the release of their new original holiday song, “Snowflakes in Your Hair.

“We wanted to give our fans something extra, a thank you for the incredible way they’ve embraced our music this year,” the duo write. “’Snowflakes in Your Hair’ is about the experience of spending the holidays alone, and we tried to capture the mix of nostalgia and solitude that comes with it. We like snowflakes as a metaphor for the unique and fleeting nature of experiences and relationships: just like every snowflake is different and melts away, the moments and people in our lives leave a lasting impact on who we are even after they’re gone. It’s a symbol of both the beauty and transience of life’s encounters…it’s also just a Christmas song!”

“Snowflakes in Your Hair” is the cherry on top of a banner year for the New York City-based duo. On December 15th, Eighty Ninety released their highly-anticipated self-titled debut album. Fusing intimate storytelling, sticky melodies, and minimalist pop productions built on acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, their debut LP showcases the very best of their signature sound.

Brazilian producer DJ Glen returns to the label with ‘Fanfare’ out now via Dirtybird Records

Closing out the year with a raucous, ‘Fanfare’ is a fitting title for DJ Glen’s latest original. Anthemic in all the right ways, ‘Fanfare’ is instantly enticing with its high-spirited melodies and energy-inducing builds. An eclectic tech-house hit made for dancefloors far and wide, ‘Fanfare’ is sure to find its way into countless DJ sets this New Year’s Eve.

“Last year, I spent the day in the studio with Claude VonStroke and one of our conversations was about how snare rolls have been overused. I thought it could be used in a different way, and decided to sample and convert the swing to the drum machines with the best punch I could do. The rest is my analog machines screaming as usual in a lucky session and a “Whos Afraid Of Detroit” inspired lead to stay in the dancefloor mind like an earworm for ages.” – DJ Glen

NYC singer-songwriter Annie Dressner kicks off 2024 with news of her brand-new album – I Thought It Would Be Easier out 5th April via Dharma Records and releases another track from the record, the contemplative  ‘Dance We Do’, out 12th January.

In the new single, Annie finds herself unable to read into how another person feels about her. Do they care? Do they not? ‘It’s like a dance we do,’ she sings with her signature crystal clear harmonies atop some gently understated guitar lines. Speaking about the track, Annie says: ‘This is a love song about someone who has put themselves out there over and again, but only to be turned down and let down.  There are some people with whom you cannot tell where you stand.

With the single coming up in the New Year, it arrives with the announcement of her upcoming new album, I Thought It Would Be Easier. Out 5th April via Dharma Records, the singer-songwriter conveys a multitude of emotions with songs that feel open, welcoming and understanding of how complex being human can be. The album ranges from soothing gentle ballads to fast-paced Americana, showcasing her skill in crafting relatable songs.

Annie Dressner: “I Thought It Would Be Easier” encompasses the theme of the record. I didn’t realize how hard life could be and would be at certain times. I hope that the record will resonate with people. Perhaps they have gone through similar things and therefore feel heard and comforted by the songs. Maybe the songs can express the listener’s emotions that they couldn’t articulate themselves. Or maybe people will just like the way that they sound! I guess I just hope people like the record… I know I do!’

Born and bred in the heart of NYC, Annie picked up her family’s guitar for the very first time on the night of her high school graduation, and discovered a hidden passion that would change her life. Inspired by icons like Simon & GarfunkelCarly Simon, and Ben Kweller, she began crafting her own melodies, often humming her thoughts like a secret soundtrack to city life.

Annie’s artistic odyssey led her to countless open mic nights in the bustling streets of New York, which became her training ground, cultivating not only her craft but also a vibrant community of fellow songwriters and musicians. She eventually played her debut solo show at legendary NYC venue The Bitter End in 2008, and thereafter began collaborating with the likes of David FordPolly Paulusma, and Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), who would go on to work frequently with Annie.

For two albums Parisian quartet Hoorsees received heaped praise for their 90’s inspired sardonic, guitar pop steeped in equal parts melancholy and nostalgia. Returning with their third LP, Big, via Howlin’ Banana and Kanine Records, Hoorsees channels less Pavement or Weezer and instead, embrace their French roots. Evolving a synth pop sensibility, they don’t manage to completely shake their adoration of American sounds though, complementing warm walls of electronic pads with angular riffs that pay tribute to The Strokes. Big is not just a stylistic shift for the band, but also a shift in responsibilities. For the first time, Alex Delamard (voice/guitar) shares lead vocal duties with Zoe Gilbert (vocals/bass), with both continuing to be backed by Thomas Gachod (guitar/keyboard) and Nicolas Coste (drums).
