Launching into the new year – SOLAR EYES – present their breathless new single: “Let’s Run Away”.

Infusing their far-out sounds with low-slung guitar lines straight out of a Morricone flick, the latest from the Birmingham psych/pop duo is set at a galloping pace that leaves no time to waste.

Spaghetti Western and Sci-Fi in equal parts, the duo conjure a score for the extraterrestrial Alamo that never was in this shoegazing, sensory-rushing, tour-de-force.

Surely contributing to its Tex-Mex flavourings, “Let’s Run Away” was written and recorded in Texas last year following Solar Eyes’ debut appearance at SXSW festival. Feeling the desert surroundings and local mythologies seeping into their songwriting, frontman Glenn Smyth recalls of the experience:

“‘Let’s Run Away’ was one of the last songs to be written on the album, it was written in Texas last March when we were out there playing south by. You can sort of hear it as well, there’s that Americana haze type sound. Spaghetti western vibe. I sort of had in my head – now this might sound a bit mad – Tracey Chapman ‘Fast Car’ – in essence. But with a brummie slant. A Bonnie and Clyde type thing.”

Inspired by small-town tales of daylight robberies in times of old and rumours of the last crimes of the infamous duo Bonnie & Clyde, “Let’s Run Away” is alive with drama and intrigue to rival its pulse-quickening pace. As Glenn sings:

“I hope that given time, you’ll forgive my crimes, I don’t wanna die alone, I love you, I let you go, I’m to blame // I see it all, I heed the call, let’s run away…”

Mixed by Jeff Knowler, it features Glenn Smyth (Guitars/Vocals/Songwriter), Sebastian Maynard Francis (Drums/Percussion), plus additional guitars courtesy of Liam McKeown.

“Let’s Run Away” also arrives with an accomplished official video; a psychedelic cowboy caper, created by the Solar Eyes bassist Emily Doyle. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/gBzXRzIi160?si=-BkOyuLBtJtWKbiM

“Let’s Run Away” alongside recent single “Top of the World” will be found on Solar Eyes’ eagerly awaited debut album ‘Solar Eyes’, which is due for release on 16 February via the Fierce Panda label.

The cosmic creation of Glenn Smyth and Sebastian Maynard Francis, ‘Solar Eyes’ finds the duo delivering a suite of technicoloured tunes that stretch across acid-dipped sonic landscapes and blissed-out melodies. Recalling trippy trailblazers from Primal Scream to the Chemical Brothers, Spacemen 3 to Spector-ish productions; these 12 psych-dappled songs will stimulate the senses and envelop you in their pop-preened charms.

Reaching into topics as far-flung as metaphorical prisons, to unsavoury past acquaintances, the thrill of new-found love, to famous last words; highlights include “Deep Trip”, “Dreaming of the Moon”, and “Acid Test (The Walls are Closing In On Me)”. Produced by Tom Ford alongside Solar Eyes, the album was mastered by Streaky, with additional mixing and mastering by Jeff Knowler. It will be released on 16th February 2024.

A new year, a new dawn for THE MISERABLE RICH. With their first album in over 13 years on the near horizon, the Brighton indie/orchestral collective today reveal an AA-side single comprising two new tracks due to appear on it.

Quietly” and “We All Know” showcase two different sides of the upcoming record ‘Overcome’ (out 2 Feb), and arrive with official videos by James Kendall and James de Malplaquet, respectively.

With the band correctly describing “Quietly” as “a little pocket rocket”, it’s a song whose sparse and starry acoustic guitar beginnings soon erupt into a vibrant display of cascading violins sections, ebullient percussion, and stirring guest vocals courtesy of Jennifer Left.

Arriving as the result of Jim Briffett initially trying to write a “happy tune” for the new Miserable Rich album, the emergent track is instead one of human resolve in the face of adversity; a recurrent theme on their latest outing ‘Overcome’. As James de Malplaquet explains:

“I was writing about Sarah and I  – but clearly everyone has been through a challenging time over the last few years and the themes do seem like they might resonate. I think it’s actually quite a traditionally British sensibility – but I am quite sure there are people everywhere just going about their business despite the heartache they carry.”

Part of growing into adulthood means tearing down and reconstructing your narrative. This is what introspective performer Abby Sage has done on her striking, intensely personal debut album arriving spring 2024 via Nettwerk. In the months following 2021’s Fears Of Yours & Mine EP and 2022’s The Florist EP, the Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based Sage has an altered perspective — one that can only be achieved by the natural passage of time. “My last projects were quite observational,” Sage says. “I didn’t do as much internal digging as I would have liked. I was observing more than digesting my own self.”

In between the creation of The Florist EP and her upcoming LP, Sage spent most of her days in the locales of London. Residing with her close-knit family, Sage’s wit, charm, and personal stories had been heavily influenced by her time there. “More and more, I’ve been spending time in London reconnecting with my mom’s side of the family. Having a home away from home to work has opened up so many new perspectives allowing me to explore a different side of myself and my music,” Sage shares.

Over a relatively short time span, Abby’s been praised by the likes of Billboard, Pigeons & Planes, FLAUNT, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Under The Radar, Ones To Watch, Exclaim!, Lyrical Lemonade, Sweety High, Early Rising, and more. Abby has graced the covers of Spotify’s esteemed playlists, Lorem and indie pop & chill playlists as well as inclusion on their New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Indie All Stars playlists and more. She’s performed alongside the likes of Suki Waterhouse, Gus Dapperton, Vacations, Lexi Jayde, and more.

Grammy- nominated songwriter and recording artist Play releases a new rap anthem proving that he is much more than a songwriter. The anthem titled “Nothing 2 Something” is not only about how you can come from nothing and have it all but how you must learn to appreciate what you do have because you can lose it all in a second. “I want to help people understand that it can go either way. You never know. Just keep fighting”, said Playy.

The track is produced by Mic Moody, someone Playy has worked with for years. Mic Moody is not unknown in the industry, working with artists such as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Victoria Monet and Lucky Daye

Shot by DGreen in Houston, Texas, the music video captures the song’s story by depicting Playy as an artist who is homeless and gets recognized on the street. Next thing you know we see he bounced back and now has the money, girls, a huge house, and fancy cars. A true depiction of going from nothing to having something.

Formerly signed to Interscope Records, the Texas native has collaborated with many artists and producers such as Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.

Playy will be performing SXSW again next year, as well as continuing to release new music.

Fresh off his accolade as Liberia’s Afropop Artist of The Year, JZyNo makes a blazing return with his latest track, ‘Yakunay’. This vibrant Amapiano single, translating to ‘Hello’ or ‘Good Morning,’ embodies JZyNo’s warm embrace of the global music scene.

In a year marked by incredible success, Liberian Afropop sensation JZyNo’s newest musical venture dives into the beats of Amapiano, setting the stage for a lively and immersive experience. ‘Yakunay’ emerges as the perfect soundtrack for this season, delivering an electrifying combination of rhythms that is set to captivate listeners worldwide!

As JZyNo continues his rapid rise to the top of the global music market, ‘Yakunay’ reaffirms his relentless pursuit of musical excellence, solidifying his take-off within the Afrobeat landscape.

‘Yakunay is all about lifting my country’s music industry to another height. It started at envisioning myself as my entry into the global market through my hit single ‘Butta My Bread’ but then it dawned on me that I am the first and only global artist to come out of Liberia at this moment. This feeling inspired me to do Yakunay, pretty much a hello from the “Rula” of Liberian music to the globe.’, says JZyNo.

Following on from their massive recent single ‘He’s A Man’, BOB VYLAN, have released the first single of 2023 ‘Hunger Games’. The bands new album, ‘Humble As The Sun’ has also been announced and is to be released 5th April 2024

“Hunger Games is like a rallying cry for everybody that’s sick of suffering due this economic crisis that we’re living with. “Cost of living crisis” makes it sound sound neat and tidy but it’s a direct result of years of austerity, politicians that prioritise their selfish desires before the good of the country and a capitalist system that is allowing landlords, and big companies to operate unchecked. It talks about the economic hardships many of us are facing but it doesn’t just leave it there. It offers hope and inspiration. It attempts to remind people of the power and worth that we posses despite our financial earnings.” – BOBBY VYLAN

The band will also be performing live across the UK at a selection of Rough Trade shops and venues, all now sold out BUT just announced today is one at the brilliant Banquet in Kingston (at The Fighting Cocks) on album release day, April 5th. Rising alt-pop act Chloe Star returns with her new single, “Happy Place,” out on all streaming platforms today.Bold, evocative, openly queer, and a fierce advocate for female empowerment, Chloe Star is the definition of a modern day rockstar. Her music is equally defiant, shamelessly blending elements of pop, rock, punk and hip-hop into a catchy sound that is wholly her own.

Following “Fool” and “Found My Peace,” her new electrifying single, “Happy Place,” is the third in her trilogy of confessional tracks that explore lingering effects of a toxic relationship: “I tell a story with these 3 songs — the heartbreak, the awakening, and the release,” she says. “Fool” details the breakdown of the relationship, “Found My Peace” sees Chloe emerging from the ashes of heartbreak, and, finally, “Happy Place” is about finding freedom in healing. “‘Happy Place’ is about that feeling of relief that you experience when you finally feel comfortable being on your own,” says Chloe. “That’s ‘Happy Place.’”

Chloe Star is a Persian and Indigenous singer, songwriter, visual artist, and tribal advocate. Growing up she split her time between Los Angeles and her family’s reservation in San Bernardino. With a childhood that was chaotic and often unstable, she found solace in journaling and writing poetry. She taught herself to play piano and guitar and soon started transforming her prose into lyrics.

After spending a few years finding and cultivating her sound, Chloe made her official debut in 2023. With early support from tastemakers like EUPHORIA, EARMILK, and Unpublished Magazine, as well as a dedicated online fanbase, Chloe Star is undoubtedly an artist on the rise.

Laurence DaNova grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, and developed a passion for singing and the arts at a young age. He sang with a band throughout his teens, experimenting with songwriting and producing.

In 2019, he went solo, and began working with producers to craft his unique sound—experimental pop, neo-soul, and alternative rock. He released his first two solo singles, “Burnout” and “Scapegoat” in late 2019. Since then, he has released four more singles including “Rest Easy” and “Marsupial” whose accompanying music videos were playlisted on VEVO and rotationally streamed on Air Austral’s airline playlist.

With several well-received singles and videos, including major success across European streaming platforms such as VK and Jamendo, Laurence has taken on more complex projects, and is currently focused on recording and producing new material for release this coming year.

ScarLip isn’t wasting any time. Just a few days into the new year, the fast-rising Bronx native arrives with a new remix for “Blick,” the party-starting NYC anthem she released in November of last year. The remix features NLE Choppa.

[Listen to “Blick Remix”[ HERE ]

ScarLip’s “Move them hips! I need to see you go blick,” the central refrain of her high-octane latest single, has already begun to move the needle on TikTok, with fans popping up in droves to move their hips to the instrumental. Today she is joined by multi-platinum rapper NLE Choppa, known for a handful of frenetic hits of his own, for an updated twist on the hyped track that doesn’t disappoint.

The music video captures the song’s energy from the moment it begins, with ScarLip centerstage as she rocks and bops to the gravelly tones of her scene-stealing verse. Peers and onlookers of all backgrounds can’t resist the urge to join in on the action. Specifically, Scar is joined by some of the hottest and most engaging digital entertainers around: Pinky Doll, Jacob Berger, Nate WhiteArcherJersey JoeDrelleMalishaChellieDreKikiHuonQShafarStormTianna and Yannie Rae. The sentiment is clear: “Blick” is universal and so is the energy of Scar’s music.

2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Scar, who enjoyed a true star turn last year. Scar’s viral hit, “This is New York,” became a calling card for NYC natives and helped make Scar a pillar of the city’s youth movement. Legends like Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes took notice and immediately assumed mentor roles: Swizz is executive producing alongside ScarLip for her upcoming debut EP, Scars & Stripes, Scar was a featured guest during Snoop Dogg’s “Hip Hop 50” set at Yankee Stadium, and Busta collaborated with Scar and invited her to perform with him on the main stage at the BET Awards. These would count as career accomplishments for any artist, let alone Scar in her “rookie year.”

Pigeon Club is the music of Wayne Whittaker, a multi-instrumentalist musician/ songwriter living in Los Angeles. Outside of his own project, Whittaker has worked with artists such as Dawes, Diane Coffee, Haerts, and countless others.

Pigeon Club’s upcoming second album, Another Year In The Minors, is another collaboration with Grammy winning co-producers John Would and Amy Wood (Fiona Apple, Warren Zevon). Together, along with a stellar group of friends/ backing musicians, they unwittingly managed to document a major transitional period in the life of the songwriter.

Sonically, Pigeon Club has built its nest neatly between genres. There are the ubiquitous indie singer-songwriter overtones, jangly Beatle power-pop moments galore, and self-aware nods to “dad rock.”

As a songwriter, Wayne explores themes of self-reflection, doubt, anxiety, and the minutiae of everyday life with an inviting mixture of emotional transparency and self-effacing humor.

Pigeon Club’s latest single, ‘Liar,’ is a lush indie rock vehicle that examines the aftermath of a defense mechanism malfunction, with both humor and heart.

“This was a really hard song to write,” Whittaker recalls, “structurally, it came together very quickly. But once I read it back, it became clear that this was going to be a particularly exposing three minutes. Thankfully, the touched upon themes are unmistakably human, so at the very least I’ve confirmed that I am indeed only human.”

Survival skill for those unfit
To handle what we’re dealing with Seek a softer landing
The damage notwithstanding

Lyrically, parts of the song read like a relational autopsy report.

We’ve reached the point where you’ll admit You don’t know who you’re living with

You could see right through me If I let you closer to me

But I’m a liar

The accompanying music video for ‘Liar’ sees a traveling entertainer and his puppet sidekick struggle to engage with an audience using card tricks, sleight of hand, and some honest-to-goodness magic. It’s clear that however successful the illusion, this game of deception is taking its toll. But the show, of course, must go on.

Another Year In The Minors is slated for a spring 2024 release.

Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Jada Kingdom releases her first song of the year, “Those Days,” produced by Grammy-winning producer Di Genius.

Those Days,” which samples renowned Jamaican reggae musician Sizzla‘s 1997 record, ‘Just One of Those Days,’ exemplifies Jada’s powerhouse artistry from microphone to pen as a songwriter. Jada enriches the classic sample with a bold, breathtaking twist packed with mesmerizing storytelling and buttery vocals within a fashion that effortlessly blends traditional sounds of Reggae with an R&B and Hip Hop flavor.

With new music and more surprises set to be unveiled later this year, Jada Kingdom enters a new era poised to certify her as an undebatable artist to watch—worldwide.

Same Side has released new single On & On & On.  Taken from the sophomore album “Oh No” which is set for release on the 2nd February 2024 on Pure Noise Records.

“Most people know someone that just keeps getting in their way.” says Kevin Geyer.   “Whether it’s yourself or someone close to you, it’s always hard to be honest and confront the issue head on. This song attempts to speak to that relatable feeling of dread knowing that confrontation is necessary and imminent.”

Artist Kralingen is slowly but surely building on a legacy that features such talents as Elliot Hammond from The Delta Riggs and Dope Lemon fame, brilliant composer Victor Butzelaar, and artists such as Jimmy Young from Bootleg Rascal and Sticky Fingers fame. Yet in the build-up to the ‘bigger’ work the coming years, we are getting warmth after warmth in the more vulnerable releases. Such as In My Orbit, a song about two people attracted like the gravity of suns, yet giving each other the space to cultivate true love… between the waves of both gravity and the ocean.

Electronic visionaries Rezz and Subtronics have come together to release their new collaboration ‘Black Ice’ out now via HypnoVizion & Cyclops Recordings

The anticipated follow-up to their 2022 collaboration ‘Puzzle Box’, ‘Black Ice’ is an addictive new favorite for Rezz and Subtronics fans alike. Resonating with each of their distinctive styles, ‘Black Ice’ slithers through climactic builds and ominous twists and turns as the pair experiment with textured layers and psychoactive elements. A multitudinous blend of genres, ‘Black Ice’ is daringly bold with two dynamic drops that lend themselves to Subtronics’ leftfield dubstep and Rezz’s mid-tempo signatures, with a touch of bass house added for good measure. A testament to their metamorphic capabilities as collaborators, Rezz and Subtronics have combined their trademarks into a cohesive yet mind-bending creation with ‘Black Ice’.

“This is my second track with Subtronics. It’s always such a quick and easy process working with him. Our sounds oddly mesh together so flawlessly. Love the vibe on this one!” – Rezz

Starting the year off at sky-scraping heights, Jada Kingdom continues her hot streak with the release of her new song “What’s Up (Big Buddy),” accompanied by an official music video which premiered earlier today. The certified E-syde queen dominates on her fresh new music release as she contributes to the Dancehall Dutty Money Riddim produced by Jamaican hit-maker Rvssian (Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul).

Created with RNI Films app. Profile ‘None’

Brennan Wedl documents those dizzying years spent in the world of ‘twenty-something’. Her radically unvarnished accounts detail an expansive universe that interweaves the everyday with scenes that might include catholic church camps, queer awakenings, one-night stands, or collapsed ‘forever’ relationships. The result? An eminently relatable catalog of moments when profound realizations arrive unexpectedly. While she has been steadily releasingpoignant dispatches as a solo artist since 2016, in 2024 she takes a striking step forward with a new series of singles that will be released via Kill Rock Stars. These recordings capture Wedl at her most unbounded and creatively impulsive; delivering sweetly lilting country one minute, and crashingrock the next, ringing out with jangling brightness at times and introspective in hushed acoustic guitar picking elsewhere. This impulsiveness is something that Wedl wrestles with daily. Much of her material is indirectly inspired by her quest to live cleanly after the realization that she couldn’t live the life she wanted when drugs and alcohol were involved. However, in a move that is definitive of her approach, she explodes this specific experience into an allegory of life at large. Central is her tug of war between moderation and hedonism. A battle that she may, in any instant, apply to intoxicants, relationships, spirituality, sexual liberty, and beyond. The bubbling undercurrent throughout is a commitment to find comfort in restraint. Wedl’s knack for encapsulating the moment has been apparent since co-founding the teen Boston band Dazey & The Scouts in 2017 and through their viral resurgence in 2020 as a new audience found themselves drawn to the allure of their self-described “hormonal freak show”. As she heads into 2024 her newest compositions prove that she remains viscerally attached to her emotional core and an acutely gifted narrator of life’s highs and lows.

21 Savage announces his third solo album American Dream will be released Friday, January 12th. The album will soundtrack 21 Savage’s debut film American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, whose movie trailer was released yesterday.

The project marks Savage’s first solo studio album since 2018’s i am > i was, which earned Savage his first career #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart as a solo artist, and a GRAMMY nomination for ‘Best Rap Album’ and a GRAMMY win for ‘Best Rap Song’ (“a lot”).

American Dream: The 21 Savage Story is directed by Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji, depicts three generations of 21 Savage (Glover, McLaughlin) in the heat of a personal crisis. The film is produced by Tara Razavi and Udeorji.

The trailer, which previews brand new 21 Savage music, features Savage and his co-stars: five-time GRAMMY winner Donald Glover, Netflix’s Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, Golden Globe-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne, Bel-Air star and recording artist Jabari Banks, The Haunting of Hill House’s Victoria Pedretti, Beef’s Young Mazino, Fast & Furious veteran Chad Lindberg, Gail Bean of Snowfall fame, and Druski, the star Atlanta comedian and entertainer, also feature in the star-studded preview.

Savage Season is upon us.

The Neighbourhood Watch’s story-driven blend of folk and indie rock clearly touched a nerve when they released their album, Community Protected (2017). Without any sort of label or industry support, the album racked up 10 million+ streams. Their follow-up albums Goodbye Childhood (2019) and Lost in Bloom (2021) received strong recognition, with features in the Toronto Star, blogTO, Exclaim!, and Indie88. The Neighbourhood Watch have already proved that this was no beginner’s luck – now with their upcoming fourth full-length release, this Toronto band is more than ready to take the international stage.

Patient Love” is a pop-folk, stomp and holler, kind of song. It’s about the idea that you shouldn’t lose faith that love is right around the corner. Sometimes, you just have to let go and it will find you.

Münster Germany–  Emo punk/hardcore outfit SHORELINE have released their brand new single ‘Reviver’ taken from the bands upcoming new album, and Pure Noise Records debut To Figure Out set for release on 23rd February 2024 Pre-order here.

Speaking about the new single the band said “REVIVER is an honest statement speaking about the tension between hope and hopelessness in the context of the climate crisis. The initial inspiration was sparked by graffiti in the streets of Berlin saying: “Resignation is a privilege of those less affected”.

Singer Hansol Seung added: “REVIVER is a letter to a beloved person, who is not resigning and a constant reminder not to be too pessimistic. I think it is very easy to be overwhelmed by what is going on in the world right now. If I had to break the whole song down to one sentence it would be the pre chorus: “If this is really the end, I want it with our fists out.”

Deeply rooted in the DIY hardcore/punk scene, SHORELINE gained a reputation as a rousing live band after countless shows in squats, rehearsal rooms and basement clubs all over the European continent, so that they quickly found themselves opening for scene legends like Basement, Silverstein, Spanish Love Songs or Hot Water Music.

Kicking off 2024 in style, East-side Tampa Bay rapper Rublow shared a new single and music video entitled “Blow Talk” out now via Cash Money Records. Get it HERE. Watch the music video HERE. The visual has already picked up traction right out of the gate, gathering 100K YouTube views and counting.

The official video showcases Rublow’s charisma and confidence front-and-center. It plunges viewers into his world as he spits bars to the camera in a hometown convenience store, in an abandoned house, and from his car. He counts up money and grins with a warning, “Hope they know they fucked up, now I’m back in that mode.” Once again, his melodic flow takes hold and never lets go, locking into “that mode.

It just paves the way for more music from Rublow this year. Be on the lookout.

He initially served up “Blow Muzik” as his acclaimed Cash Money Records debut. Of the latter, Lyrical Lemonade praised, Rublow reflects on his experience growing up in the streets, remaining to himself, and gearing up for what’s next to come in his life,” and Earmilk predicted, “He has the potential to be a mainstream name in rap.” The track also achieved highlights from Hot New HipHip Hop DXHip Hop Canada and more.

Stay tuned for a whole lot more from Rublow in 2024 and beyond!
