INsiders Guide: Rolie Polie Guacamole, House Parties, Without Willow, CRSSD, Hatis Noit, Megan Nic Ruairí, Rezz & Subtronics…

Holy Guacamole! Brooklyn’s award-winning titans of kindie music are back! With skills honed by more than 15 years of working directly with kids and families, Rolie Polie Guacamole is proud to offer up the crown jewel of its catalog, Diggin’ in the Dirt. The band’s 11th album will be released January 19, 2024 on all streaming platforms, on CD, and on vinyl.

Frank Gallo and Andrew Tuzhilin created Rolie Polie Guacamole in 2006 and since then have earned a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in family music.  Their kid-smart, parent-friendly style dresses up original tunes with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers, plugging in a sizzling electric current of rhythm that lights up lyrics humming with relevance and humor.

Rolie Polie Guacamole has achieved its spot on the A-list of kids’ musicians through thousands of shows coast to coast, receiving praise from The New York Times, earning top picks from Boston.comTime Out NY Kids, and Time Out Chicago, and winning prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards.

Produced by the acknowledged wizard of the kindie mixing board, GRAMMY-winning Dean Jones, with stellar contributions from vocalist Katie Ha Ha Ha and cellist Jane ScarpantoniDiggin’ in the Dirt continues the Rolie Polie Guacamole tradition of fun, high-energy songs all done up in pop, folk, country, ska, reggae, punk, metal, and rock styles that hit on just about all the favorite kid topics: superheroes, foods, adventuring, animals, and more.

While this album is chock full of true kindie rock anthems like “Princess Dress,” “Monster Truck,” and “Ghost Dog,” there are also lush, heartwarming tunes like “We Are Birds,” with its Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young vibe, and “Mommy’s Gonna Hold You Tight”/“Daddy’s Gonna Hold You Tight,” that are among the sweetest songs Rolie Polie Guacamole has ever put together. Jane Scarpantoni’s cello artistry combines with Frank Gallo’s and Katie Ha Ha Ha’s vocals and Dean Jones’ subtle, warm synthesizers to form a magical sonic experience.

For those who love to dance, “Do The Guacamole” has a corresponding TikTok-style dance, “Jeremiah Was A Farmer” ends with a barn dance featuring some mean fiddle playing by David Levine, and an original square dance number, “You Gotta Be Gentle (With Your Friends),” features steps that Frank Gallo says are “fairly easy for any walking human to learn and do.”

Side Effects, the upcoming EP from pop-punk band House Parties!

Side Effects is set to be released on January 19th via Equal Vision Records. Proof that everything is, in fact, bigger in Texas, House Parties trade in rubber-band, sky-reaching hooks, pogo-ready energy and complex, universal emotions that shine a light on topics like trauma, mental health, and anxiety.

Without Willow, the enchanting Irish acoustic folk/singer-songwriting duo, is set to enrapture audiences with the release of their stunning single “Lay Down Your Troubles” on January 12th. The announcement follows the duo’s eagerly anticipated debut album, “Left Behind,” scheduled for release on February 9th, accompanied by a launch gig at the esteemed Regional Cultural Centre Letterkenny on the same day.

Hailing from the picturesque Co Donegal, Without Willow has already made waves in the music scene, opening for renowned artists such as Mick Flannery, Moya Brennan, and Declan O’Rourke. Their 2019 and 2022 sold-out headline shows in Germany and Canada showcased the duo’s exceptional talent and global appeal.

Karen, a former qualified nurse, contributes haunting, heartfelt vocals that intertwine seamlessly with Simon’s artistic vision. Simon, a graphic design student and virtuoso guitar player, infuses passion and skill into emotive melodies, creating a sound as diverse as their backgrounds. The pair’s synergy produces a poignant exploration of the human experience.

Their upcoming single, “Lay Down Your Troubles,” is a beautiful ballad set to release on January 12th, 2024, offering Karen’s lyrical narratives of resilience and vulnerability. The single features an incredible ensemble of musicians, including skilled drummer Mark McGirr, the multitalented Orri McBrearty on bass guitar and organ, and the late, great Ted Ponsonby, whose distinctive dobro playing leaves an indelible mark on their music.

Tragically, Ted Ponsonby passed away suddenly in September 2023, never having the opportunity to hear the finished song, although he had also contributed to Without Willow’s first EP released in 2017.

Without Willow is scheduled to perform at the Your Roots are Showing Folk conference in Dundalk on January 18th, 2024, followed by a much-anticipated album launch gig at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny, on February 9th. Tickets for the album launch are on sale now, promising an unforgettable experience with the dynamic duo. Don’t miss the chance to witness Without Willow’s enrapturing performance as they share their heartfelt music and unforgettable stories with audiences worldwide.

Singer-songwriter Megan Nic Ruairí is set to enchant audiences once again with her latest single, “Twenty Two”, scheduled for release on November 22nd. The release comes as Megan was just announced as an act at this year’s Other Voices festival as well as with the exciting announcement that Megan will release her debut solo EP ‘Made Of Sin’ January 19th 2024.

Megan will perform at this year’s Other Voices Dingle Distillery Music Trail, Dec 1st – 3rd.

Following the success of her previous release, “The Woods”, Megan continues to captivate listeners with her unique blend of Irish traditional and contemporary sounds, weaving romanticized love stories with themes of self-exploration.

About the EP Nic Ruairí says “The EP is a journey, bookended by two cinematic pieces and centred by a lover’s lament. My love for the song ‘The Whole of the Moon’ is very well known and it felt special to record my own version of it, with Mike Scott’s blessing.  ‘See you Better’ is for my mama. I tried to understand her better while she battled cancer but as the song developed it manifested into me wanting to be a better person for the people I love. She’s a tough woman and I’m so grateful for the person she’s helped me become. ‘Made of Sin’ is about not being able to understand why some of the people that work their way into our lives can treat us so terribly and how I was able to find the strength to heal from that. My love songs are about everyone and no one and some of my stories are about nothing yet everything but I love telling these stories and allowing the melodies to work hand in hand with the piano.  It’s also incredibly important to me that these tales be told in their own unique way. It’s my diary, a place to hold my memories.

This EP may have taken a few years but this is exactly when it needed to be released. All tracks were recorded three years ago but I believe that I needed to grow as a woman to understand the type of artist I wanted to be and to give the space for these pieces to turn into the body of work that I am very proud to be releasing.

I’m not scared of the spectrum I possess as a writer. I can be delicate but I can be bold and I’ll never be afraid to show it all. I’ve never wanted to be pigeon holed and constantly feel the need to expand and explore what makes me a musician. This EP is only the beginning of that.”

In “Twenty Two” Megan artfully explores the naivety of young love and the enduring impact it can have on one’s heart, even in the absence of concrete commitment. The song paints an intimate portrait of discovering and romanticizing a partner, holding onto the hope of them becoming the idealized image we’ve created in our minds.

Electronic visionaries Rezz and Subtronics have come together to release their new collaboration ‘Black Ice’ out now via HypnoVizion & Cyclops Recordings

The anticipated follow-up to their 2022 collaboration ‘Puzzle Box’, ‘Black Ice’ is an addictive new favorite for Rezz and Subtronics fans alike. Resonating with each of their distinctive styles, ‘Black Ice’ slithers through climactic builds and ominous twists and turns as the pair experiment with textured layers and psychoactive elements. A multitudinous blend of genres, ‘Black Ice’ is daringly bold with two dynamic drops that lend themselves to Subtronics’ leftfield dubstep and Rezz’s mid-tempo signatures, with a touch of bass house added for good measure. A testament to their metamorphic capabilities as collaborators, Rezz and Subtronics have combined their trademarks into a cohesive yet mind-bending creation with ‘Black Ice’.

“This is my second track with Subtronics. It’s always such a quick and easy process working with him. Our sounds oddly mesh together so flawlessly. Love the vibe on this one!” – Rezz

Irish folk band Some One’s Sons, (Daniel Allen, Greg Dunne, Ger Dunne, Ray Purcell)  hailing from the town of Mullingar, are set to tug at heartstrings with their latest single, “One More Minute”, out Jan 26th. Hot off performances at Electric Picnic and sold out concerts at Whelan’s and The Cobblestone, the up-and-coming young four-piece showcase an emotive prowess in this poignant ode to loss and regret.

“One More Minute” is a musical journey that explores the universal theme of longing for just a bit more time with those we hold dear (“’If I had one more minute of your time”). The song’s narrative unfolds through powerful lyrics, accompanied by delicate harmonies Some One’s Sons are known for.

Listeners can expect an immersive experience as lead singers Daniel Allen and Greg Dunne navigate the complex landscape of grief and a desire for one last moment. The narrator progresses through denial, (‘I can’t accept the past, don’t fill me the parting glass”) and depression (“A lonely footprint in the sand”)

The chorus echoes a constant return to bargaining (“If I had one more minute of your time, just one last chance to say goodbye. I’d tell the stories of our youth and I’d tell you that I love you’). The climax sees the narrator finally reach acceptance (“If love is real, then it lives and it must die”) while acknowledging a paradox that the memories are what last forever (“But stays with you until the end of time”)

Daniel’s vocals, reminiscent of the late Jim McCann, effortlessly blend sweet tones with an unrefined ruggedness akin to the legendary Tom and Paddy Clancy. Meanwhile, Greg commands a tenor that stands as a unique and timeless force, drawing comparisons to the likes of Luke Kelly and Tommy Makem. With a sound deeply rooted in Irish tradition, Some One’s Sons continues to captivate audiences with their authentic storytelling and soul-stirring performances.

“One More Minute” is poised to resonate with fans of Irish folk music and beyond, solidifying Some One’s Sons’ reputation as a band with both heart and musical prowess. This single marks Some One’s Sons’ first original release, having previously released songs they collected from across Ireland. Now, they make the first original stamp on Irish folk music, through what Daniel describes as, “a love letter to grief”.

The single is now available on all major streaming platforms, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the raw beauty of this Irish ballad. See them live at:

Dombresky and London duo JADED announce their Sound Of The Drums EP, a new collaborative body of work consisting of two melodic, peak-time floor-fillers. The release is set to arrive via Diplo’s house/techno label Higher Ground on February 1. The first of the two tracks, “All For You,” is out now.

While both Dombresky and JADED have carved out their distinct sounds in modern house music, they intersect with a mutual admiration for soulful vocals and bouncy grooves. “All For You” is a perfect daytime groover that encapsulates the feel-good energy that they both consistently emanate through their music. The track marks the first chapter of a prolific 2024 ahead for Dombresky and JADED. In addition to the EP, the trio will unite on Dombresky’s LIFT OFF Tour on January 13, with JADED joining on each of the 18 stops through North America.

Although he hails from the laidback southern region of France, Dombresky’s penchant for invigorating four-on-the-floor beats is pure house bliss. The DJ and producer burst onto the scene in 2016 when he arrived in Miami as Quentin Dombres, a then-unknown talent with an impressive roster of funky, feel-good tracks. Today, he has become inextricably linked with industry heavyweights, including Blond:ish, Armand Van Helden, Diplo, Claptone, and MK, all of whom supported Dombresky’s early career endeavors as collaborators. This past year, he performed at Coachella while continuing to broadcast his passion project, Process Radio, which won him an Electronic Dance Music Award for Best Radio Show.

the Austin-based experimental folk project Middle Sattre shared their potent and shimmering new single “Hate Yourself to the Core” off the eight-piece band’s forthcoming album Tendencies, set for release on February 9th via Sad Tree Records.“I think a lot of people have a hard time understanding internalized homophobia. There’s this idea that if you’re gay, then you can’t be homophobic. I wanted to write a song that very clearly lays it all out and explains how this can happen,” explains bandleader Hunter Prueger

The track arrives alongside a Maya Lam-directed music video starring Stephanie Shin, who also arranged the video’s choreography. On the collaboration, Shin revealed her approach: “In creating the movement, I was really inspired by the consistent instrumental pulsing that builds throughout the song, and I immediately visualized a sort of circular momentum that I think is replicated in the video. Maya and I were focused in on the powerful lyrics of course, but also the tempo of and restraint in the vocals. The whole process was all the more special getting to collaborate with Hunter, a friend of over 10 years.”

German quartet Letters Sent Home have announced their new debut album Forever Undone set to be released on April 12 via SharpTone Records. The highly anticipated album features recently released singles, “Request Denied” and “Elements”, alongside nine ambitious and exciting new tracks.

Forever Undone is available to pre-save now at https://bfan.link/forever-undone

We have been told that people mostly like our music due to relatability and personality in our songs. We believe to have pushed this to an extreme, for this album is as personal as it could possibly get. I am truly nervous about some of these songs being heard by certain people but writing this album has been very therapeutic in the way that I finally started dealing with stuff I have been consciously and subconsciously ignoring for the past years,” shares vocalist Emily Paschke. “The title “Forever Undone” came to mind after the album was already finished. It is a lyric out of a song that’s on the album and it summarizes every track in its very own way. We feel like you are never going to be done improving yourself or healing and there’s always going to be something that’s broken inside but that’s the beauty of life. It’s what makes us human.”

Forever Undone Tracklist:

1. Earthquake

2. Request Denied

3. Ignorance

4. Pedestal

5. Elements

New York psych-garage four-piece The Thing announce their sophomore album The Thing Is with the release of its third single “Midnight.” Three minutes of perfectly calibrated overdrive, “Midnight” sees the band punching the time clock for impending doom. Fast, driving, and unrelenting, this new cut is another taste of what’s to come from their second record arriving on February 2 — Presave

Built up by Zane Acord, Jack Bradley, Michael Carter and Lucas Ebeling, The Thing is on an endless crusade when it comes to achieving the exact sound they’re looking for, religiously indebted to the DIY forefathers who came before. Formed in 2022, The Thing jump started their success once they fell in love with being on the road and fans started experiencing their live shows. Committed to doing everything they can in-house, the band records at their East Williamsburg studio Onion Records, creates their own visuals, and has crafted a visual identity that marries the grit of the 90s with the effortless temptation of the 70s.

On the inception of “Midnight” The Thing shared, “The initial idea came from a drunken stupor years ago when we were jamming in our living room. We spent close to an hour just on the one riff. We’ve been enjoying writing this way, entering a trance and trying to find a song amidst a cacophony. Eventually, we revisited this voice memo during our recording session for this album.”

Continuing, they said, “We whittled it down and settled on a form but had not found the lyrics. So, on the tail end of our most recent tour, we spent a few nights in an Airbnb in the Appalachians. The lyrics were inspired from conversions about nuclear weapons and how our time on earth is measured by a doomsday clock countdown. We were asking existential questions and affirming our belief in a creative life. We felt the spy-like essence to the instrumental fitted that lyrical theme nicely.”

The band’s triumphant third full-length album Name Your Sorrow finds the group at their most vulnerable and self-assured as they explore themes of queerness, insecurity, desire and heartbreak as well as the positivity and strength that can grow from pain. Produced by Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus, boygenius) at Analogue Catalogue in Northern Ireland, the collection sees the group chart new territory as they give fans an all new, uninhibited look at both their artistry and humanity. With masterful instrumentation and raw lyricism, the quartet immerse listeners in a robust, emotionally-charged sonic world like never before.

Each of the eleven tracks peel back an additional layer of the human condition, from grief to joy and everything in between, culminating in a collective catharsis–a newfound sense of strength and hope in a greater sense of self. With moments of harmony and contradiction, lead guitarist and vocalist CathyMcGuinness calls the album one of intensity, loneliness and love. “It is about stages of love, loss and grief and how they can all exist alongside one another–intertwined, messy, beautiful–how both love and loss can coexist.” Tucked away in the quiet Irish countryside, the group bonded deeply, laughing, cooking for each other and playing games which resulted in a safe, supportive environment that allowed each musician to experiment, mess up, and try again. Pillow Queens credit Irish poet Eavan Bolan, English poet John Keats, and British writer C.S. Lewis among their literary inspirations during the writing process, and musically, influences range from Vampire Weekend to Barbara Streisand to Frank Ocean, Tool and Lana Del Rey.

New studio album The Collection solidifies her stamp on the music scene, leaving her own unique mark set outside of the norm.

In a society where women are often pitted against each other, Laura emphasizes the importance of female solidarity and aims to celebrate the bonds that unite women.
In her own words, Laura Zoog shares her vision for “Queen”: “I want this song to be a feminine anthem to bring us together. So often women are compared and put against one another, and I think females need to put each other and our bond first.”

Sita Abellán notches another milestone in her astounding career as a creative with her first-ever body of work under her techno alias, SITA. Her new concept EP, Generacion XDISIS, arrives via Spanish underground techno veteran Héctor Oaks’ label, KAOS.

With Generacion XDISIS, which contains four visceral club tracks, SITA depicts her own metamorphosis as she focuses on the idea of mutation, evolution, and shedding skin. SITA shares the story of her journey and transformation from DJ to producer, from club kid to having kids, and exploring her creativity like she never has before. The sound draws from SITA’s love of historical techno, tapping into ‘00s Eurohouse, the post-Franco Spanish techno Ruta Del Bakalao era in ‘90s Valencia, Belgian new beat from the ‘80s, and modern Berlin techno.

This EP represents for me an artistic evolution, a journey into the deepest parts of my being. It’s about sharing myself through my music, authentic communication, and a manifestation of my ever-evolving best self.”    — SITA

techno force of nature Charlotte de Witte unveils a two-part homage to an iconic era
of Belgium’s underground club scene with the debut of an archival label within her KNTXT imprint and a rework of one of the most anthemic techno tracks of all time. Appropriately titled Époque, this sonic time capsule aims to simultaneously preserve and reimagine the spirit, sounds and discotheque culture of the late 90’s and early 2000’s for a new generation. As head of the label, de Witte will kick off its release on January 25 with her own spin on the Belgian techno classic, “Universal Nation” by Push. Released in 1998 and originally written by Push as a B side for a different project, “Universal Nation” quickly solidified its reputation at the turn of the century as an iconic and defining track of this era in electronic music history. Reimagined through de Witte’s high-energy lens, this rework is an ode to one of her favorite classics. “I’m unbelievably honored to have been able to rework one of the most iconic tracks ever made, once again,” says de Witte. “This one is straight out of Belgium and holds a lot of meaning for clubbers worldwide. Universal Nation has
been with me since the very beginning, and I would like to thank Mike and Bonzai for allowing me to touch such a historic track. Coming from Belgium myself, this means a lot to me and my goal was to honor and respect the original while giving it a contemporary twist. It has brought me much joy to play it on stages around the world during these last few months, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”

2024 sees the return of Swedish-born superstar Boy In Space as he braces for impact with new release ‘Atom Bomb’ out January 19th

Robin Lundbäck, who goes by the moniker Boy In Space, is no stranger to success, stacking up an impressive half a billion streams for his music to date. With the new year reigning in, he prepares for the release of ‘Atom Bomb’, an overtly cinematic masterstroke which will drive the re-launch of the Boy In Space persona.

Sonic perfection that could suitably soundtrack any coming of age flick, ‘Atom Bomb’ soars into the stratosphere with a gripping build-up in its verses before bursting into crescendos of pop bliss. Written alongside regular collaborator Freddy Alexander, the track arrives after a period of years that Boy In Space pins as “the best and worst years of my life.” Coming face-to-face with physical struggles, multiple surgeries and wrestling with his own mental challenges of ADHD, a shift was needed in the way he approached both his personal life and musical journey. In arrives ‘Atom Bomb’: a welcomed reintroduction with quintessential Boy In Space qualities.

Coming from a post-apocalyptic part of my life, it felt natural to write a song with the tone Atom Bomb has. Writing the lyrics I wanted to give a glance into parts of my life I usually don’t reveal, with a lot of questions and observations about what has happened and being left wondering why. Atom Bomb is a statement – that I’m back and ready to put my imprint on today’s pop sound.” – Boy In Space

Boy In Space (Robin Lundbäck) achieved international success at a remarkably young age. After embarking on a world tour with his brothers, he transitioned to launch his solo career in 2018, solidifying his position on the global music scene.

His distinctive voice, whimsical writing style, and versatile productions quickly captivated the pop world, leading to an impressive tally of over half a billion streams on Spotify alone. All the while maintaining independence as an artist and touring extensively in the United States and Europe.

Looking ahead to 2024, Boy In Space is gearing up for a re-launch, armed with a new team, a fresh visual identity, and a wealth of new music. Collaborations include Alan WalkerThe Struts1MindToby GaddPink Sweat$Phoebe RyanJordan ShawNOTDShy MartinJohn NewmanRed TriangleNick FurlongRod WaveFreddy Alexander, among others.

Armed with their first new music since their 2022 EP, Sydney alternative band Yours Truly return today with “Call My Name”, out now via UNFD.

Loaded with driving guitars, sleek yet potent vocals and salient hooks, “Call My Name” is as much a sharp earworm as it is a stirring exploration into self discovery, flexing a fresh new sonic shade of Yours Truly following their formidable 2022 EP is this what i look like?.

“‘Call My Name’ is about the internal struggles of being addicted to a person that you know is bad for you,” frontwoman Mikaila shares of their brand new single. “You turn away from all their red flags because you have so much hope that they can be the person you created in your dreams. You defend them and begin to blame yourself. I realized that we as people crave acceptance from the people who make us feel we are not enough and on the other side some people use that power to their advantage. At the end of the day you realize some things aren’t meant to be and you need to make peace with that.”

Polished, precise and hauntingly vulnerable, Yours Truly transformed their previous trademark pop punk style into a dazzling new chapter via their 2022 EP is this, is what i look like?. Armed with raw honesty and heightened influences, is this what i look like? still explored moments of pop punk and introspection, but the end result forged an amalgamation of organic yet unexpected new sounds and thematic exploration into heightened rock, emo and dance-ready sparkle woven into the established Yours Truly DNA.

For the epic new video for her song “Jomon,” Hatis Noit collaborated with Berlin-based Taiwanese-Japanese media artist NAOWAO. The visual piece weaves a tale of a profound ritual where different living beings come to life, led by the guiding hand of a shamanic Hatis Noit. Together with NAOWAO’s character design, computer animation, and ethereal sequences, “Jomon” emerges as a myth, where the spiritual and natural worlds converge in a captivating celebration of life and death. The ritual depicted in the film draws inspiration from two core concepts – Hatis Noit’s name origin and the ancient Jomon culture of Japan, dating back

Last year, Church Chords – the new collaborative studio project led by musician/producer Stephen Buono – began sharing a string of singles that gradually revealed the ambitious scope of their forthcoming debut album, elvis, he was Schlager, arriving on February 23rd via Otherly Love Records.

To kick off the new year, Church Chords side-stepped expectations with the release of the melodic downtempo indie-pop track, “Alone Under the Water,” featuring vocals from Kristin Slipp (Dirty Projects, Mmeadows). Reflecting on the collaboration, Buono shared, “This was the first Church Chords song to have lyrics. Until then, I thought this record would be a collection of instrumentals. If singer/lyricist Kristin Slipp hadn’t agreed to collaborate, this record might not have happened. As someone who spends significant time in the ocean, I love the subject matter.”

When considering the track alongside the singles that precede “Alone Under The Water,” the expansive and shape-shifting world of Church Chords comes into focus. The project’s debut track, “Sweet Magnet,” featured renowned guitarist Jeff Parker (Tortoise) and showcased a fusion of jazz and world music that pays homage to Don Cherry’s Brown Rice. Church Chords then introduced their debut with “Recent Mineral,” a song featuring Genieve Artadi (Knower) that Treble hailed as reminiscent of “Fugazi at their most weirdly dubby or Blonde Redhead indulging in a more free-form jam.” These were followed up with two tracks featuring Wilco guitarist Nels Cline: “She Lays On A Leaf,” a song merging avant-pop with krautrock with the help of the lauded Chicago duo Finom (Macie Stewart and Sima Cunnigham), and “Owned By Lust,” an energetic post-punk cut made with rising Los Angeles songwriter/guitarist zzzahara (which the project self-proclaimed as sounding like “Patti Smith singing a Gil-Scott Heron song.”). These songs went on to receive well-earned praise from many outlets including Bandcamp WeeklyJazziz, Treble, and The FADER.

The number of contributors and the storyline behind elvis, he was Schlager, is a little dizzying to comprehend. And it may sound like a recipe for a mess — a situation with too many cooks. But thanks to Buono’s steady hands guiding each step of the process, the album is a complete, cohesive statement. An exploratory, daring, and engaging expression of music’s transformative power. A mood piece that flows steadily and smoothly from vibe to vibe, guiding the listener through each melodic twist and rhythmic turn.

New York City indie-country rockers Divining Rod are elated to share their The House Will Always Win EP, available now across music platforms via Kilipaki Records. The EP itself comes after singles “Days Of Rum And Roses” and “King Of The Night”.

Lead single “King Of The Night” combines a vocal performance that’s full of confidence and force with dynamic chords and soulful production to create a blues rock gem. An ode to carefree youth and playful lust, “Days Of Rum And Roses” is a joyful antidote to somber stocktaking caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The track evokes Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo with rumbling guitars and vibrant red rock energy.

“Ballad Of A Black Widow” concerns a deadly marriage in which both the deceased and the living are sympathized with. A breakup from differing perspectives is explored in“This Is The End”. There is a first one that recounts events from the perspective of a toxic male. A more truthful version of events is told in the second account. It’s like a breakup song version of ‘Roshomon’.

An off-strip casino scene in Las Vegas is the setting of “The House Will Always Win”, which focuses on a doomed romantic relationship between two gamblers. This song was written during a vulnerable time in Furtado’s life, and is arguably one of his saddest tracks.

The Hails announce the expanded version of their debut album, What’s Your Motive (Deluxe)with the release of their official live video for “Stay.” Originally released in September of 2023, the band’s album is an orbit of grief and reconciliation over growing pains, both individually and with each other. Further waxing their penchant for well-polished experimentation and all-consuming storytelling the deluxe album features two new tracks, fan-favorite “Stay,” and a remix of “Fiona” with Magic City Hippies. What’s Your Motive (Deluxe) will be released on February 1 — pre-order

Bridging What’s Your Motive to its deluxe version, The Hails gathered at Fraser Studios in New York to film a live session of their most streamed song to date, “Stay.” A staple of the band’s catalog since formation, it felt right to include this beloved track on the deluxe, a capstone on an era for the group. The live session directed by Steph Rinzler of Prophet Media, captures the ever-evolving warmth that “Stay” has found as fans have latched onto it over the years — Watch

noted indie darling Tamar Berk is excited to release the music video for “permanent vacation”, the latest single from her summer 2023 album tiny injuries.

With a music video brilliantly directed and cinematographed by Brandon Mosquera, Tamar Berk’s latest single is about wanting to leave your current situation, but not knowing how to get there. When discussing her latest offering, Tamar Berk writes:

“The song “permanent vacation” was inspired by my first vacation after the pandemic. Having never been to Costa Rica, we decided to go there. Although I have always been afraid of flying, traveling, airports, and crowds of people exacerbated my anxiety. It kept occurring to me that I wanted this trip to change me, and make me a different person.

After the event, I was a changed person in many ways, but I still went back to my daily grind after it was over. Every experience exists only in our minds and in the way we remember it. It’s about a deep desire to leave your present situation and find something better, but you don’t know how to do it.

Whether I’m moving homes, cities, changing jobs or relationships or even taking a vacation, I always hope that these experiences will bring me peace and calm. Whenever I feel hopeless, I try to believe I will find something better, become better, and be born again.”

Sam Kallan, shaped by the challenges of a small city, infuses his dark style with influences from Slipknot, Three 6 Mafia, Linkin Park, and Suicide Boys. “Come Up” is a raw expression of their journey, blending movie inspiration, real-life stories, and intense emotions. The collaboration amplifies the trap metal genre, delivering a powerful fusion of beats and vocals. Brace yourself for a sonic adventure that pushes boundaries and defines a new era in trap metal.

‘Old Beliefs’ is the punchy third single by emerging alternative indie punk duo Shiny Brain Crayons.

The song hypnotises like a snake charmer, enticing the mind to break free of limiting cycles shackling us to our habits, and grow into our future selves. Groove-based riffs, stark drums and driving guitar licks build into dark electronic beats – Welcome to the signature sound of Shiny Brain Crayons!

Delving deeper into the human psyche, 2024 is the time to reflect, move forward and ‘scratch off the Old Beliefs’; confronting us to ask ourselves ‘what are you standing for?’

After gaining international radio and blog features in the US, UK, Europe and Asia with previous single Noodles For Life, the band hit back with a refreshing new years reminder.

Championing creativity and abstract introspection, Old Beliefs follows SBC’s message of psychology, meditation and self-empowerment.

Award winning producer/multi-instrumentalist Stergin weaves music, effects and simplicity against a crunchy energetic sound world that will soon captivate across the hip-hop, electronic, indie and punk audiences.Stergin & singer/multi-instrumentalist Marianne Canning honed their energetic live show in 2023, and continued to bless listeners with colour, bold statements and a palpable sense of having fun with music.

‘Old Beliefs’ follows their previous singles ‘Shiny Brain Crayons’ and ‘Noodles for Life’ in an upcoming EP set for release later this year.

Both musicians have been involved in many projects over the years, having been signed to major & indie labels (eg. Red Bull), creating award winning live shows (12 Photos 12 Tracks – the global journey of a Polaroid turned into music) and touring the world with bands such as The King Blues.

Turkish DJ/producer Mahmut Orhan releases his new single, “Andalusian,” via Ultra Records. The track comes alongside the formal announcement of his debut album, Pangea, which is set to arrive on March 22. The project will continue Orhan’s mission to harness the universal power of music by blending intercontinental and intercultural sounds.

Orhan’s sonic evolution is heard clearly on “Andalusian,” which builds upon his indie dance roots and ascends to powerful melodic techno. Middle Eastern psytrance influences propel the track forward, while Lebanese singer Ribale Wehbé delivers a rich yet feathery vocal performance in her native tongue. The sound is dramatic and emotional but still beckons listeners to the dancefloor.

“The Pangea album is a real memory album for me, where all the memories, experiences, journeys and sounds that inspire me that I have accumulated since the day I started making music, come together.” – Mahmut Orhan

Post-modern rock group The Missing Peace has today released their new single “FIREWORK”. Combining ethereal melodies and brutal breakdowns, “FIREWORK” was produced by Cameron Mizell (Sleeping With Sirens, Memphis May Fire, Avril Lavigne, Machine Gun Kelly). Fans can listen to the new song now, here: https://lnk.to/tmpfirework.

“’FIREWORK’ is a total evolution of our sound and could definitely challenge the status quo of rock music,” the band shares. The song has everything from intense breakdowns & gritty vocals to melodic, pop-influenced hooks. Mizell x TMP is bringing the energy that can shake up the mainstream rock scene and we can’t wait for you to hear it

The Missing Peace is a young, explosive rock band from Washington, DC. Fronted by freakish performers Luciano and Lazarus, The Missing Peace have a fresh, experimental sound that blends hardcore, alternative, and pop elements to produce a style of modern rock that not only threatens the status quo, but we’ve heard it’s also the reason that Doja Cat now says she wants to make “pure, unfiltered punk”.

Chicago pop punk trio Definitely Maybe has today released the highly anticipated follow-up to their recent viral success. “Are We Having Fun Yet?”, a dynamic track about the price you sometimes pay for following your dreams, is out now and streaming, here: https://ffm.to/listentoawhfy.

The band shares: “‘Are We Having Fun Yet?’ is a relentless exploration of the toll ambition takes on the soul. Delving into the highs and lows of chasing dreams, it offers an unfiltered look at the exhaustion and self-discovery that comes with the journey.

Definitely Maybe burst onto the scene last year with their viral single “One More Night”. The song, which was written by singer/lyricist Courtney Clinkert following the loss of her sister to suicide, is meant to remind listeners that you never know what tomorrow might hold – if you can just make it through one more night. “One More Night” has struck a chord with listeners around the world, garnering 5M+ views on TikTok and 452k+ streams on Spotify.

Alternative-pop band, Valley — comprised of Rob Laska, Mickey Brandolino, Alex Dimauro and Karah James – close out the Lost In Translation era by releasing an expanded, deluxe version of their sophomore album, songs that got lost in translation, out today via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada — Stream.

The deluxe album features seven untouched demos, rediscovered on the cutting-room floor from the original recording sessions. One of the demos includes the wistful synth-pop record, “memories” which is released alongside a lyric video. Full track listing for songs that got lost in translation, below.

Drummer and vocalist Karah James explains, “We wrote so many songs for Lost In Translation over the course of about three years. A lot of them were pretty bad, but some gems sat in the Dropbox for way too long, it started to feel like the land of lost toys.” James continues, “We’ve always dreamed of putting out a collection of demos, and this felt like the best way to carry on the LIT era. These songs are mostly unedited from the first day we wrote them. There’s a lot of fond memories, but also pain attached to them. We hope you find an attachment to them in your own way.”

Electronic visionary Rezz has announced her forthcoming album CAN YOU SEE ME? with a new collaborative single ‘DYSPHORIA’ with HOLLY out now via HypnoVizion

A foreboding introduction to CAN YOU SEE ME?, ‘DYSPHORIA’ echoes the eerie outliers and desolate tones that soundtrack Rezz’s self proclaimed “bass era”. Complex and enigmatic, ‘DYSPHORIA’ distends the usual curves of electronic music with its perilous basslines and cryptic drum patterns. As galvanizing slow builds give way to catastrophic drops, ‘DYSPHORIA’ brings listeners to the brink before catapulting back to reality.

“HOLLY sent me this idea for a collaboration and I immediately knew I wanted to work on this record. This is the perfect entry to this new bass music era for my project.” – Rezz

“This one means a lot. I’ve been looking up to Rezz since I came across her music in 2015. I have always respected the world she has built with her art and how true to herself she has been since day one. There’s a lot I learn from Rezz as a fan and now I am very grateful for the opportunity to create together. I hope this is our first of many records!” – HOLLY
