Hi Evan welcome to OLC! So tell us how you became interested in astrology and what led you to become an expert in this field?
Thanks for having me! I never had any interest in astrology until late 2019. I was a digital strategist and data analyst in New York, moonlighting as a musician and had hardly any contact with the concept of spirituality apart from a brief period of reading the Bhagavad Gita in 2012. One night in September 2019 I got a concussion at a nightclub called Pyramid Club, and somehow it knocked me onto a completely different path in life. The next day I found a labradorite crystal at a CBD shop on the Bowery which spoke to me deeply. Months later I was connecting with a tree on the East River. Dormant energies in me were waking up again, and I started to recall dreams I had as a child where I’d be visiting planets in other galaxies. It dawned on me that I had simply repressed these gifts for most of my life.
After moving to Los Angeles in late 2020, a friend of mine suggested I explore astrology, and I bought my first book at the end of that year. Over the next four months I engrossed myself in all the literature I could find, and by the spring of 2021 I was able to read strangers’ charts with a high degree of accuracy. I even blended numerology to decipher exact years when things occurred. This stunned some of my early clients and gave me a boost of confidence to trust my gut and start my own astrology practice despite my limited experience. I knew in my bones that I was reactivating skills from past lives and that in some ways, I had always understood astrology. It completed this triumvirate alongside math and music, which had always come naturally to me.
My business took off when I began posting content to TikTok, and by the summer of 2022 I had the capital to go full-time. Since then I’ve invested extensively in a range of channels and have had the pleasure of delivering keynote speeches, doing readings for A-List celebrities, and even scaling up my own live show doing cold readings for audiences. The over 1,000 readings I’ve done for clients over the past two years speak for themselves and I am so grateful to be able to share my gifts with the world.
How do predictions based on a person’s birth chart provide valuable insights into their life, relationships, and career?
Astrology reveals our karma and how past actions in past lives dictate the energies we’re destined to work with in this lifetime. However, astrology only predicts the themes we will encounter, not the specific actions we will take. Astrology can help someone anticipate the themes and energies that will arise, thereby giving them the awareness to make the best possible choices. It’s important to note that astrology is not a passive process or a reason to make excuses. Instead, it shows us where we need to improve and what we need to take ownership of. Rather than asking “when will my partner appear?” ask “how can I optimize the energies in my birth chart such that I’m ready when the right person arrives?”
All that said, astrology can pinpoint the best possible times to get engaged, buy a house, travel, and go for a promotion. It can even indicate when health challenges may come up. It’s an incredibly precise practice.
In what ways does astrology play a significant role in influencing and guiding our everyday lives?
The positions of the planets correlate with our psychological states down here on Earth. This doesn’t mean they cause us to act a certain way, but there is a parallel between macro cosmological phenomena and our personal (and collective) experiences. The planets don’t call each other up and conspire to make us feel a certain way, but just as a Hurricane resembles the spiral of the Milky Way, there are patterns throughout our reality that validate the esoteric phrase “as above, so below.” As an extension of this, one can infer personal behaviors and societal trends based on what’s happening in the sky. It’s not that crazy of a concept if one stops and contemplates the manifold patterns across nature and the universe.
Could you elaborate on the connection between zodiac signs and an individual’s personality traits or characteristics?
Zodiac signs are symbolic subdivisions of the sky, and in the tropical zodiac, they are anchored around the Solstice and Equinox points. These are the points at which there is either maximum daylight, minimum daylight, or an equal amount of day and night. Each zodiac sign has its own unique characteristics which together tell a cyclical story of self-development, actualization, and release. Their characteristics are also reflective of the energy of the season they belong to (from the perspective of the Northern Hemisphere). For example, Scorpio pertains to death and rebirth and aligns with the time of year when the leaves begin to fall and wither, while its opposite sign, Taurus, represents the middle of spring when flowers are blooming.
Every sign has an opposite and explores the concept of polarity and balance. And the signs are either feminine or masculine (Yin vs. Yang) which adheres to the idea of duality. Duality is the underlying force in our universe that enables time itself, in my opinion. In the beginning, there was a singularity and once this split and began subdividing, there was a continual reconciliation of opposites inside of Space-Time. But astrology suggests that Consciousness predates this and that there is an energy that unifies everything, including the planetary positions and our psychological states.
And by the way, the planets are the conduits or channels through which the energy of a sign expresses itself. They truly activate our charts and form our personalities.
I was born on the 22nd of December and I notice that my star sign changed sometimes, I switched between Capricorn and Sagittarius, but my mum always said no your a Sagittarius lol who knows why she was fixated on that but is it common for star signs to fluctuate like this?
Celestial bodies occupy a particular sign by degree, minute and second. These precise measurements eliminate the possibility of a “cusp.” This means that, for example, the sun may shift from one sign into the next on the same calendar day. It’s important to separate the Gregorian Calendar, which is a human construct, from the actual movements of the planets. In your case, you’d have to look up your exact birth time to ascertain whether the Sun is in Capricorn or Sagittarius.
What does my Zodiac sign say about me?
Everyone has multiple planets in their birth chart. The Sun, Moon and Rising signs comprise the essence of who you are. Mercury, Venus and Mars are the personal planets and pertain to your skills, desires, values, relatability and basic functioning. Saturn and Jupiter indicate how you learn, grow and fit into society. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto show how you and the collective society are evolving at that time.
The birth chart is the compendium of all these celestial bodies and shows what your soul is choosing to learn in this lifetime, and the karma you are attempting to balance.
Therefore, it’s difficult to capture the entirety of someone’s soul purpose and mission based on a single placement. That said, the position of the Sun, which the vast majority of people associate with as their sign, shows how you choose to express yourself. So if you were a Sagittarius Sun, there would be an optimistic expression and desire to explore the world outside, while a Capricorn Sun would be committed to more of a singular path and would proceed through life more cautiously, albeit with clear ambitions.
What advice do you have for someone looking to explore or understand their birth chart for the first time?
I think it’s important to look at the big picture before diving into it. Look at the night sky, explore the planets and stars and constellations. Get accustomed to their natural cycles. In fact, everyone is already aware of the solar and lunar cycles. Extend that to learning about the planets and get into the rhythm of the cosmos. At that point, you’ll connect your birth chart to the actual snapshot of the sky at the moment you were born. I think this makes it more real and tangible.
Conversely, if one were to approach it via a meme or a pop astrology video, they might only ever possess a surface-level understanding of a profound and intricate subject, which I think is a tragedy. In many ways, all of us already know how astrology works, insofar as we live through all kinds of overlapping cycles. It’s just that society has conditioned us to think in a linear fashion.
Can you share a memorable experience where astrology made a profound impact on someone’s life decisions or choices?
Everyday I help clients prepare for major life events, which is possibly the most rewarding experience for me. I’ve helped someone prepare for a parent’s passing, for an upcoming wedding, or for the creation of a business. Astrology, applied correctly, can change someone’s life trajectory. I see myself as a guide who runs ahead down the snowy path and comes back to tell the hiker which trails to avoid and which ones to take.
How do you navigate the skepticism or misconceptions that some people may have about astrology, and what evidence supports its effectiveness?
Astrology is accurate when done the right way, but is diluted by pop culture. A distorted version of it is presented to the public in most cases, which makes it simple for skeptics to dunk on it. I have plenty of receipts proving astrology. For instance, I predicted the financial crash of March 2023, the constriction of oil supplies in the Red Sea late last year, I predicted the timing of the end of the Writer’s Strike in Hollywood, and also the spate of recent announcements about prominent figures stepping down for health reasons or dealing with health challenges.
And my 1:1 readings with clients prove astrology everyday. I can tell whether a client was adopted, if their parents were having affairs, or the age at which they moved homes simply by looking at their birth chart. I’ve done over 1,000 readings in two years with consistent results. I’ve even done readings for skeptics, who end up coming back. I welcome any rebuttals against astrology. I haven’t found a convincing one yet.
As an astrologer, how do you see the future of astrology evolving, and what trends or changes do you anticipate in the field?
Astrology is seeing an explosion and will become increasingly mainstream. There are pros and cons to this. The upside is that it will bring more people into the fold, and hopefully this will destigmatize it and encourage people to have a personal astrologer just as they would a doctor. I look forward to it resurfacing in the collective consciousness. The downside is that it’s incentivizing bad actors to enter the marketplace — people who have no actual astrological experience but who have a tech background and want to start an app purely for profit. Or people with a rudimentary understanding of the field who use their charm and charisma to attract audiences.
