Variety reports that Lionsgate is moving forward with the Monopoly movie. It also states that Margot Robbie will produce through her production company LuckyChap. Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara will also produce the movie via LuckyChap alongside Hasbro Entertainment. While no plot details have been revealed yet we obviously do know that it will be based on the board game. A director and cast have not yet been announced.

LuckyChap said in a statement, “Monopoly is a top property — pun fully intended. Like all of the best IP, this game has resonated worldwide for generations, and we are so excited to bring this game to life alongside the wonderful teams involved at Lionsgate and Hasbro.”

“As one of the most iconic games in the world, Monopoly provides an incredible platform for storytelling opportunities,” Hasbro Entertainment’s Zev Foreman said. “We are thrilled to have the unique vision of LuckyChap and Lionsgate alongside us to bring this historic piece of popular culture to the big screen.”
