Netflix Acquires Rights to Mystery Movie Adaptation of ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ From Producer Steven Spielberg and Directed By Chris Columbus

Netflix has officially acquired the rights to the movie adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club, the upcoming mystery film directed by Chris Columbus. The streamer will continue their relationship with Amblin Entertainment, who are producing the film after Steven Spielberg acquired the adaptation rights to the project.

Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley have all signed on to star in the project.

“In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet weekly in the Jigsaw Room to discuss unsolved crimes; together they call themselves the Thursday Murder Club,” the synopsis for Osman’s novel reads. “When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photograph left next to the body, the Thursday Murder Club suddenly find themselves in the middle of their first live case. As the bodies begin to pile up, can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer, before it’s too late?”
