Mattel Films has officially announced its partnership with Universal Pictures for the development of a live-action Monster High movie. Already announced as producer is Akiva Goldsman, who has produced other films such as A Beautiful Mind and Constantine. The film will be based on Mattel’s popular toy of fashion dolls imagined as the teen children of legendary classic monsters such as Dracula and Frankenstein.
“Monster High helps fans discover the great beauty in being true to yourself and celebrates the unique sensibilities at the core of who we are as individuals,” Mattel Films boss Robbie Brenner said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). “We’re proud to partner with Universal Pictures and the brilliant Akiva Goldsman to usher this important message to audiences worldwide.”
