A Donkey movie is officially in the works, and Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as the voice of the iconic character. In a conversation with Collider, Murphy was asked about the world of Shrek and what was in store for the future of the franchise. He then revealed that not only had production on Shrek 5 begun already, but a donkey movie was also planned for after.
“We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago,” Murphy said. “I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie].”
