Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in Why Don’t You Love Me?, an adaptation of the Paul B. Rainey novel from A24. The film is being described as a sci-fi comedy and follows a married couple struggling with their marriage and professional lives “until they realize that their reality is not what it seems and there may be alternatives,” according to the logline for the film.

The movie will be directed by Robert Funke and produced by Lawrence. “Why Don’t You Love Me? is a pitch-black comedy about marriage, alcoholism, depression, and mourning lost opportunities,” reads the novel’s synopsis. “Paul B. Rainey has created a hilariously terrifying alternate reality where confusion and pain might lead people to make bad choices but also eventually freedom… maybe.”
