Described by multiple industry icons as an ‘astonishing’ talent, Australian singer-songwriter Ruel has today unveiled Adaptations, a covers EP of re-imagined favorites via Giant Music – Listen HERE.

Produced by GRAMMY-award-winning producer M-Phazes (Eminem, Madonna, Kehlani, Demi Lovato), the 5-track EP showcases the raw emotion of Ruel’s natural voice adapted for some of his favorite classics, each linked by their timeless honesty and vulnerability. Adaptations features reimaginations of Tobias Jesso Jr.’s “Hollywood”, The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name”, Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me”, Imogen Heap’s “Hide & Seek” and Miley Cyrus’ “Malibu”. Ruel also released a visualizer to accompany “Kiss Me”, a couple of weeks ago, inspired by the iconic first scene of Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 Romeo + Juliet and shot in the same Cathedral in Mexico City – WATCH HERE.

Ruel shares his thoughts on recording an EP of reinterpretations, “When the idea of an EP floated around, I immediately made a playlist of hundreds of songs that were either underrated gems or my fav hits and then paired up with [producer] M-Phazes to bring them to life.”

Award-winning songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Stephanie Schneiderman debuts her new single, “Cry With Me,” out July 18th, 2024. Whether pursuing her prolific work as a solo artist (9 albums), playing drums for all-star roots act Swan Sovereign (formerly Dirty Martini), acting in many theater/film productions, or organizing a wildly successful humanitarian concert series for Ugandan refugees – Schneiderman is one of the most diversely talented artists the Northwest has to offer. Her solo career launched with a coveted spot at Lilith Fair before she went on to tour with top acts like Aimee Mann, Marc Cohen, and Sarah McLachlan. Her emotionally charged tracks have been featured in numerous films and television shows, including The Vampire Diaries, Felicity and many others. On her newest album, Crossfire, she blends genres of Americana and trip-hop – beautifully interweaving dark, introspective lyrics with ambient and lush instrumentation, crafting a compelling collection of songs that speaks to her aesthetic as a songwriter and first-time self-producer.

Schneiderman wrote, produced, and performed her new single “Cry With Me” as an invitation to stay tender during divisive and painful times as we navigate what’s happening in the world around us. Though it’s a song meant for all, the collective grief and cry for compassion center on the battles women fight every day. Featuring Jenny Conlee (The Decemberists, accordion), Ji Tanzer (Blue Cranes, drums), Tony Furtado (banjo and baritone ukelele) and Keith Brush (Blue Cranes, upright bass), — the impressive collection of musicians composes a compelling sonic atmosphere rife with rage, hope, and uncertainty. The power lies in the melody, somber tone, and unique lyrical perspective. The haunting accordion surges alongside Schneiderman’s effecting vocals, instilling a sense of pain that only truly gifted vocalists possess.

The accompanying music video was produced and crafted with a diverse crew and an all female cast, helmed by powerhouse Portland director/editor/creator Alicia J. Rose – known for her music video work (First Aid Kit, Cake, Laura Gibson, The Softies and many others.) She recently won both the Narrative Audience Award at the 2021 Ashland Independent Film Festival and the Best New Directors Award at the 2021 Port Townsend Film Festival with her feature directorial debut “A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff.” The season finale of her 2017 web series “The Benefits of Gusbandry” was hailed as a “delirious masterpiece” by The New York Times.

The video, shot at the vast and gritty decommissioned Zidell Shipyards, embodies grief and humanity spanning seven decades of life, utilizing the incredible talents of five female dancers who beautifully morph into the various stages of grief through dance.

Nashville-based pop singer and songwriter Leah Mason reveals “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” the fourth single from her forthcoming album, HEXED, out August 9th.

With haunting lyrics that reverberate with honesty and vulnerability, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” is undoubtedly one of Leah’s most heartfelt singles to date. A dreamscape of sparse piano and minimalist production, her utterly breathtaking vocals take center stage. It’s an evocative and spellbinding reminder of Leah’s artistic breadth.

I’m a pro at masking my emotions and suppressing my feelings until I can deal with them later,” Leah reveals. “But the thing about emotions is they don’t wait for the most convenient time to bubble to the surface. This song is about surrendering to your mind and acknowledging how you’re feeling. Truthfully, that’s the only way to start the healing process.”

Rising indie-rock artist meg elsier reveals her highly-anticipated debut album, spittakeout on all streaming platforms today.

Blending elements of grunge, contemporary pop, folk, and indie-rock, spittake showcases meg’s ability to create dynamic, versatile, and effortlessly catchy music. Across the album’s 11 tracks, she delivers musings on love, death, nostalgia, youth, anxiety, depression and everything in between, with a uniquely self-deprecating touch. “The story isn’t necessarily linear,” she explains. “But the main connection throughout is this unreliable narrator that you as a listener determine your view/trust of. They are incredibly inconsistent with their statements but I believe they think they’re telling the truth.”

All of the songs on spittake were solely written and demoed by meg over the last few years. She later collaborated with Nashville-based producer Ryan McFadden to record the final product while still maintaining the DIY spirit of the album as a whole (the lowercase, uncapitalized song titles are a nod to the original demo names).

“The creation of spittake was the biggest and scariest thing that I’ve done,” she says. “It’s something I built up and something that seemed somewhat impossible to even imagine how to achieve. But it happened! Ryan McFadden and I made this record by getting to know each other’s intentions and taste, and just brain processes. To be honest, I don’t think I knew what the record meant to me/what I wanted to create until it was done. I know I wanted to record an album because I felt proud of these songs and I really was craving for people to hear them. What I really was searching for was an introduction as… meg. Not someone I’m mirroring, or someone I’ve been trying to become. Just who I am genuinely at this moment.”

Heather Mae, the acclaimed social justice singer-songwriter, fearlessly bares her soul in her music, creating an intimate space of shared vulnerability for her listeners. Her unbridled honesty, both on and off stage, has cultivated a devoted fanbase and garnered recognition, including accolades like the winner of the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase and Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Artist-Activist of the Year award. The songwriter is finally telling her coming out story. It’s a narrative shared by many queer individuals, especially those from southern, conservative, or religious backgrounds. Mae remembers her first kiss, her first love, her first heartbreak—each with a girl. Despite her truth, Maedidn’t come out to the world, or herself, until she was 25 years old. Now based in Nashville, TN, far from her hometown outside DC, Mae channels her experience into her vibrant new single, ‘Kissing Girls,’ by asking, “Why didn’t I know I was queer until I grew up?” ‘Kissing Girls’ celebrates not only queer joy but also pays a heartfelt tribute to the transgender community—highlighting the journey of transitioning and the steadfast love of supportive partners.

“A bisexual love song for people who have loved or been loved by someone who was transgender. We deserve to hear our love songs on the radio, too.”

Co-produced by Mae and the renowned Lollies (Timbaland, Hayley Williams), ‘Kissing Girls’ features the electric talents of Nashville guitar witch Marshall Biever, mixing skills by artist-engineer Liv Lombardi, and mastering by the distinguished Piper Payne. With its blend of nostalgic and modern pop sounds, ‘Kissing Girls’ is the Pop sonic representation of queer liberation.

And while it is sure to be a must-add on every 2024 Pride playlist, ‘Kissing Girls’ is part of a groundbreaking dual album release scheduled for 2025 (Mae’s other record explores her Indie-Alternative side). Both projects are a triumphant declaration of Mae’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, created entirely by two teams of women and nonbinary folks—comprising mostly LGBTQ+ individuals based in Nashville. Both records funded by a passionate and supportive fan base through a successful $52,000 Kickstarter campaign, ‘Kissing Girls’ is the second single release off her upcoming Pop album and a beautiful synopsis of what is to come from Mae: resistance in the form of big, loud queer joy.
The third single ‘All I Wanna Do’ is an alt pop banger influenced by the story in the Bible about Naomi and Ruth. Heather confides, “

Ruth’s unwavering loyalty to Naomi, saying, ‘Where you go, I will go,’ is often seen by lesbians as a rare biblical example of sapphic love. Growing up, I knew these stories well, but compulsory heteronormativity and the purity movement made me invalidate my own queerness. Despite my early crushes and kisses with girls, I thought I was straight because I also liked boys. Those ‘Naomis’ in my life were just friends in my eyes. ‘All I Wanna Do’ celebrates those hidden sapphic connections, honoring the love that was always there, even when we couldn’t fully see it.”

Mistine is a rising pop / rock artist combining the rhythm and warmth of classic rock with her own brand of angsty pop sincerity. Mistine’s music is a perfect blend of modern and vintage, drawing inspiration from artists like Aerosmith, The 1975, Maggie Rogers, and Avril Lavigne. Since discovering her passion for music, Mistine has toured with Aespa,

Conan Gray, BiigPiig, Meg Smith, Haiden, and recently performed on the Kelly Clarkson Show with Mckenna Grace.

With her sophomore EP Lonely, Mistine creates a sonic alt pop/ indie musical collection that resonates with the human experience and lonely hearts. The EP covers covers relationships from friendships (“Thelma and Louise”) to lovers (“Lonely” and “IDEK”) and the ebbs and flows that come with both. Through her poignant lyricism and evocative sound, Mistine takes us on a journey through the depths of what it means to be alive in this world. This alt-pop EP promises to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of listeners everywhere. Mistine shares, “This ep takes the listener through my exploration and confusion into life and love. It captures moments in time from growing in love, heartbreak, and friendship, confusion, longing, loneliness. My songs are made to listen to while you’re driving in your car, right before sunset, when the sky is just turning orange; windows down, hair flowing in the breeze, timeless nostalgia.  I thrive on the connections between others and myself.  Why are we the way we are?  Why do we do what we do?”

After his return to the music scene last month with brand new single ‘Rearview Mirror’, Oklahoma born singer-songwriter Greyson Chance is back with his second single of the year, titled ‘Haymaker’. Bursting with life and emotion, Greyson draws inspiration from the rich traditions of his folk, country-influenced roots on this new track, with a high-spirited, folk twang running through the heart of the beat.

“Things got physical between my brother and I. Haymaker is a song influenced by a punch, but it’s a lot more than that. I haven’t really spoken to him in three years. Family is everything, until there’s nothing left. That’s what this song is about”.

As Greyson Chance embarks on a new chapter in his musical career this year, he reclaims control of his narrative, embracing the blissful sounds of his Oklahoma-inspired roots. With each new release, including his latest project ‘Rearview Mirror’ Greyson further cements his position in the industry as a multifaceted creative, earning notable acclaim as both a poetic lyricist and a highly skilled pianist.

‘Haymaker’ honours both the best of Greyson’s contemporary pop inspired melodies, as well his traditional, nostalgic folk influence. Together, they create a sound that feels fresh and exciting as well as something comparable to a warm embrace.

This release is the follow up to Greyson’s recent single ‘Rearview Mirror‘, which beautifully reintroduced him and his ever-evolving sound to listeners, and did so in the form of a delightful piano ballad. His comeback has been met with widespread praise and support, with fans and critics alike applauding the song’s authenticity and tenderness.

WONDERLANDThis compelling piece underscores his ability to craft deeply personal, introspective, and vulnerable indie-leaning pop music.”

Rising Greek-American pop artist EVANGELÍA keeps her foot on 2024’s pedal with the arrival of her sultry new single, “Mykonos.” A summer-ready anthem and ode to her heritage, it was co-written and produced with Jordan Palmer, Stolar (Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Marina Satti), and GRAMMY-winner Gino The Ghost. The new single comes off the heels of the star’s recently completing her North America “Feels Like Greek Summer” Tour and recent EP, Alpha/Beta.

Rising Los-Angeles born, genre-bending creative Claire Brooks sets out to captivate listeners once again with the arrival of two brand new singles titled ‘Hibernation’ and ‘Slowly Towards The Door’, out today via AWAL. Known for her eclectic sound and innovative production, Brooks delivers two distinct auditory experiences that highlight her versatility and creativity as an exciting new voice on the scene.

Bearings have released the reimagined version of their single ‘Slip’. The single is taken off the bands recently announced deluxe version of their record The Best Part About Being Human via Pure Noise Records. The record is out 24th September 2024 and produced by Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, Between You & Me). The record will feature three new songs and three re-imagined.

Exciting new UK 4 piece EVERY HELL return today, Tuesday July 2nd, with a huge brand new single ‘Revelry’. It is the bands 3rd single so far, with much more to come though this summer. Featuring ex members of Black Peaks, Broker and Memory Of Elephants, EVERY HELL are following up their first 2 singles ‘The Watcher; and ‘Freaking Out’ (which garnered huge support with the likes of Radio 1, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound and more), with this production wise stripped back, direct and raw new direction.

This new material was all recorded live and to tape, with the aim to really capture the sound of a heavy, live band in action without any post production or even any edits. Everything is thrown at the bands sound, it is a no holds barred approach and all sonic character and personality is kept in on purpose to fully reflect the 4 members being together in that room at that exact time, capturing that specific moment. The result ms heavy, exhilarating and hints at a whole new sound and direction to come for EVERY HELL.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Will Gardener said – “Revery is about fighting anxiety and the little tricks and lies we use to try and convince ourselves we are okay. Recording this song was a real treat. We tracked drums, bass, guitar and vocals live together in the room to 2 inch tape. Peter Miles was at the helm again which made it an easy and very fast ride. The take you hear (and can kind of see in the video) was the one we chose to keep, rough and ready with zero edits. Just some additional sax and a couple of guitar overdubs after the fact. Was a great feeling performing and then getting that instant gratification when we walked back into the control room.”

On the back of a Top 20 Album and the completion of a major UK tour in the spring, PET NEEDS continue to shatter the glass ceiling with their punch-packing new single.

On ‘The Age That You Were’, the DIY Essex quartet find themselves inspired, quite literally, by a bit of household DIY from their childhood that seemed to make quite a dent on a young Johnny Marriott… As the frontman elaborates:

I am now the age I remember my dad being when he knocked through a stud wall and fitted sliding doors in my childhood home. I can’t even hang a picture frame. Still. Although I did change my car brake lights the other day!

It was especially fun to sing the line about “creatives who either (grow) up into legends or f*cking disgraces” down John Lydon’s custom microphone whilst in the studio. The very one he recorded the whole last PIL album on, before gifting to the studio. I’m not saying that line is about him, but I’m not saying it’s not either.”

fast rising and exciting punk producer performer MERYL STREEK has announced his brand new album ‘Songs For The Deceased’, produced by Dan Doherty (Fontaines D.C.) and set for release on October 25th through Venn Records (a label that has picked up talent early and released the likes of Marmozets, Bob Vylan, Wargasm and High Vis). MERYL STREEK have also today released a brand new single ‘Paddy’, watch the video for ‘Paddy’ HERE of click on the image below:

Hot on the heels of the release of first single ‘Blue’, new signing to Xtra Mile Recordings, BEN BROWN, announces his new EP by the same name. Produced by friend and mentor Frank Turner, ‘Blue’ EP is out digitally on 12th July 2024.

Whilst writing music for his first solo offering, Ben had a chance meeting with Frank Turner. After catching a performance at his neighbour’s barbecue, Frank invited Ben to record some songs in the recording studio at the bottom of his garden. Bonding over a shared enjoyment of Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, together they set about capturing the songs Frank had heard – a process which turned into one of play and exploration. There were no arrangements other than voice and guitar initially – but together they layered vocals and drum machines to create recordings that sound like the songs heard at the bbq – but more!

Ben says of the session:

Many laughs were had at the recording and listening back to the performances you can really hear how comfortable I had become in Frank’s garden studio. At lunch time – Frank would cook me his signature dish … Pasta Surprise – which is apparently the only thing he can cook. Being a good producer is as much technical prowess as it is communication and personal skills. Frank has both of these.

The songs themselves are sort of vignettes in my head – when I sing them, I can picture a scene. The way the camera would move, the grain of the film. I believe them to be well crafted – both structurally and melodically – they are more understated than my previous work, there is no loud drum kit or overdriven guitar to hide behind. For me, this is more vulnerable, and to be honest more exciting!

Discothèque Inside My Head deftly combines the bands sample-driven trip-hop and disco influences with their unique brand of cinematic alt-pop. It imaginatively rewrites the script sonically and visually ahead of the album’s release.

Jangly electric guitars evolve into a kaleidoscope of psychedelic tinged alt-pop on Discothèque Inside My Head, setting the stage for some of Telenova’s most vivid songwriting and vocal performances yet. Frontperson Angeline Armstrong explains, “Sometimes all the noise and voices of my inner critic make me feel like I’m spinning around, lost in an overwhelming disco of light and sound inside my head. I’m discovering the key to living with that level of self-doubt and noise is learning to dance along with the discothèque

Premiering at the St Kilda Film Festival in June, “Discothèque Inside My Head” is also Telenova’s most ambitious music video yet. Written and directed by Angeline Armstrong and co-directed by Hamish MacGregor, the clip features a series of refreshingly quirky dance sequences by award-winning choreographer Zoee Marsh. It’s essentially a 6-minute mini-musical”, Angeline says, “starting with an off-beat audition sequence where I’m literally being judged by myself (the inner critic made all too real), the competing dancers in the video represent the voices of comparison and self-doubt in my head…but me and the voices ultimately learn to dance happily ever after.”

Following the release of their rave-received ‘Shanty Punk’ album last year, SKINNY LISTER unveil a brand-new EP to be released digitally on 5th July 2024 through Xtra Mile Recordings.

The ‘Pub Shed Bootleg’ features 6 tracks from the ‘Shanty Punk’ album, played live at the legendary Forge & Flagon pub shed earlier this year. It perfectly encapsulates the raucous fun that is a Skinny Lister gig.

Dan Heptinstall explains:

“The Forge & Flagon has been a big part of the Skinny Lister story from our very beginning and has always remained some kind of spiritual home for the band. We named our first album after it and have enjoyed so many great and often messy nights in The Forge over the years. We recently shot the video for our single ‘Company Of The Bar’ there – which perfectly captures the atmosphere of the place.

For our latest release – the six-track live EP ‘Pub Shed Bootleg’ – we again felt the enduring pull of The Forge. This time we brought along a crude recording setup to capture us playing a selection of songs taken from our recent album ‘Shanty Punk’. It was great to have Smudge and Mandy (landlord and landlady) along with a whole bunch of Forge regulars join us for the session to help fill the shed and the recordings with that truly unique atmosphere. Even Party George is present to get the place jumping with his self-penned song ‘William Harker’.

As Shanty Punk was largely made as an album to be played live – it’s great to take these six tracks and hear them in a live but intimate setting, giving the tracks an even more beer-soaked rowdy atmosphere and a fresh dimension. It has also been a great way to touch base with Skinny Lister’s origins and first inspirations, which remains a part of the band’s core DNA to this day.

Cheers to that and long live The Forge!”
