INsiders Guide: DJ OMRI, Larkin Poe, Never Ending Fall, Jack Vinoy, Keni Titus…

Israeli producer/DJ OMRI. has landed on the label with his new Earth Your Mind EP, which features a collaboration with fellow Israeli act Maori, out now via Dirtybird Records.

Making his first appearance on the label with an entrancing three-track EP, Earth Your Mind absorbs the escapist atmosphere of Tel Aviv’s kaleidoscopic nightlife scene. OMRI. opens with ‘Dizzy’, a funky four-minutes topped by a lively vocal sample, before diving into ‘Levitate’ with Maori. On ‘Levitate’, the pair fuse chunky filtered bass lines with spacey synths for a hypnotizing medley that combines their psy-trance roots with modern house rhythms. Closing with the titular track, ‘Earth Your Mind’ brings the EP full circle as it captures the trippy synchronicities of the three tracks.

“What I love about Earth Your Mind is the development of the bass, it starts very minimal and bouncy as with the progress of the track it opens up, bringing lots of energy to the dance floor, until it breaks down to a super low bass that makes the body explode.” – OMRI.

“When I play ‘Levitate’, I feel the atmosphere of an elevator and each floor comes with a new adventure. I think we got stuck on the ‘The Floor Is Lava’ floor.” – Maori

Larkin Poe – the GRAMMY® Award-winning duo of Georgia-bred, Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell – continue what is proving a milestone year with the jubilant new single, “Bluephoria,” available now via their own Tricki-Woo Records. An official music video – filmed in The Blue Room at Nashville, TN’s Third Man Records – premieres today on YouTube.

“Once upon a time: we caught a case of the blues so deep and all-encompassing that it launched us on a euphoric exploration,” says Larkin Poe. “‘Bluephoria’ is a rock ’n’ roll rumination on the duality of the human experience; deep down in the quietest place where the bitter and the sweet twine together, and suffering/joy are galvanized into meaning. Take special note of the second verse which was inspired by the words of legendary Memphis bluesman Furry Lewis, who is quoted as having said: ‘Now I know I ain’t a star, but I sure might be a moon.’”

2024 got off to a triumphant start for Larkin Poe, beginning with their first career GRAMMY® Award, winning “Best Contemporary Blues Album” for 2022’s critically acclaimed sixth studio album, Blood Harmony. Additional accolades followed, including a prestigious Americana Music Honors & Awards nomination for “Duo/Group of the Year.”

Combining nostalgic familiarity with original excitement, indie-rock band Never Ending Fall today announce that their new record American Disco will be released on August 9 via Create Music Group. Friends and bandmates since a fated talent show performance in the 4th grade, the Maryland natives made the move to Los Angeles a few years ago to take a serious stab at their music careers. In a strange twist of events, the thing that put them on the map was their hit TikTok series ‘Can it Kirkland’  where they compare name brand liquor and Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand. After becoming beloved figures of the internet, a whole new audience was tuned into their music.

In celebration of their album announcement, Never Ending Fall today released the record’s fifth single “Slow Motion.” Hand-crafted for the summer, the hard-hitting track has touches of sultriness, documenting how time slows when you’re falling in love with someone new. Within seconds, Never Ending Fall clears up any doubts whether they are a rock band meant for massive audiences shouting their lyrics back at them — Stream

The band shares that, “‘Slow Motion’ is a summertime indie banger about finding true love. The instrumentation and lyrics provide a feel good, easy listening experience for any music lover.”

Nashville-based artist and producer Jack Vinoy shares the brilliant new single ROTATE from his upcoming debut album RELAY out on August 23rd.

Showcasing Jack Vinoy’s signature sound, ROTATE incorporates sample chops, big 808s, swung drums and beat switches as it shifts from an alternative R&B-influenced starting point to the brash punk ending. The new single is an impressive next move for the artist on the rise.

With collaboration and community at the core of his artistry, ROTATE is a product of teamwork. Tapping into the community of artists in Nashville, the track features background vocals from Noozi, who also featured on Vinoy’s earlier single EVEREST HEIGHTS. Additional work from his talented peers Andrew Twining, Brent Hendrich, and Buda went into building up the ending, which created the distinct wall of sound.

Offering up a potent dose of energy, ROTATE carries a message of resilience. ‘Even if things aren’t going great, hold your head high and be proud of your efforts’ shares Jack.

The accompanying music video matches the track’s chaotic energy, with shots of Vinoy’s body being carried in a rolled up rug, and heavy usage of visual effects. The video takes inspiration from Jack’s love for surrealist art, his playful nature and, not forgetting; Better Call Saul. Sharing more he explained; ‘Most of the motion graphics shown on the billboard are from my live show video display, I usually perform with a screen or projector displaying those videos behind my band. I try to create a multimedia experience with every performance so that every show feels special’.

ROTATE is the follow up to the slick and bouncy ‘LEMON & HONEY’ which arrived back in April in collaboration with Nashville-based pal Brian Brown. The track scooped support from the likes of Colors X Studio, Equate and Noctis who described Jack as ‘‘embodying the spirit of infectious positivity and optimism in the captivating rhythm’

Rising Los Angeles-based alternative singer-songwriter Keni Titus is back with a bang with brand new single ‘think i got a bad idea’. This up-beat, alt-pop track perfectly captures the carefree spirit of youth, embodying the desire to break free from societal expectations and live life on your own terms.

Listen to ‘think i got a bad idea’ below:

Speaking on the new release, Keni Titus shares; “‘think i got a bad idea’ is a song about wanting to be your own person. being pressured to feel or act a certain way but saying fuck it for better or for worse and doing what you want. it feels like the sort of freedom you get from dying your hair pink when you’re 12. taking fate into your own hands and doing what you believe to be true instead of doing what’s expected. i’ve felt a lot of pressure in my life to live up to a certain standard but at some point you just have to do what you want and that’s what this song is to me.”

Alt-Pop artist, Dela Kay, has unveiled her highly anticipated EP, Falling Into Place, today. Co-written by Dela Kay, Nick Cozine, and Stefano Pigliapoco, this EP marks a pivotal moment in her career, embodying her personal journey of self-rediscovery and artistic evolution after a challenging hiatus. Falling Into Place is a profound reflection of Dela Kay’s transformative years, where she faced and overcame significant adversity, including a traumatic brain injury and a sexual assault shortly thereafter. These experiences led to a decline in her mental and physical health, leaving her struggling to regain her balance. However, after a period of healing and reconnecting with her musical roots, she emerged stronger, ready to share her story through her new music. In collaboration with co-producer and co-writer Ryan Dulude, and main producer Stefano Pigliapoco, Dela Kay found herself in a creative space where everything seemed to “fall into place.” This creative synergy is evident throughout the EP, particularly in the title track, which was penned during her first session with Stefano and Nick Cozine. The song poignantly addresses themes of anxiety, depression, and trauma, offering a beacon of hope to listeners who may be facing similar struggles.

Her dad introduced her to music from the U.S. and around the world, icons like Madonna, Pavarotti, and Lara Fabian.

Theo Moss discovered her passion for music at just the age of 5. Immersed in the classical music world, she spent over 12 years studying violin. Immediately commanding attention with the bold opening lyrics: “If I ain’t made myself too clear, I want you here with me” on first track “Yes, Indeed”, dream-like synths and piano licks blossom effortlessly as the young talent sets the tone and pleads her desires to an exciting love interest. Transitioning into the funk-infused “Fine With Me”, Amindi stays grounded in the chaos of a situationship, with thumping percussive textures guiding her past the complexities and towards self-realisation.

London-based alt-pop singer-songwriter and guitarist Sam Walwyn releases his newest project, a 7-track EP titled ‘Can We Restart’. Known for his distinctive blend of pop, folk, and indie music, Sam has been building great momentum and gaining significant attention leading up to this release. With emotive lyrics, catchy melodies, and skillful guitar work, this new project encapsulates a variety of influences, reflecting his multicultural upbringing and diverse musical tastes.

‘Can We Restart’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Speaking on the inspiration behind ‘Can We Restart’, Walwyn shares; “This EP covers a wide range of emotions. Anger, grief, loneliness, depression, doubt but is packaged with hope and playfulness. I never wanted the songs to all feel like you can only listen to them in the fetal position in a dark room. I wanted the songs to be something you could scream while driving around or show to your nan and she starts tapping her foot.”

“The title track ‘Can We Restart’ is the epitome of this sentiment. I was done feeling worthless and wasting life wishing on things. In the chorus I state all the things I want to do, one of them being going on roadtrips and being with friends so I wanted this song to be something we would put on while tackling miles of road ahead of us. Writing this demo was one of the first times I had fully produced a song. The song came super quickly and a lot of the elements from the demo are in the final track. I felt scared of being so open about my life and what I was feeling at the time so I initially wrote in the 3rd person to distance myself from the subjects and to give myself freedom knowing that if anyone heard it I wouldn’t be judged. But when I took the song to my friend Dustin he said flip it back to first person. It felt scary at first and I was apprehensive but it was definitely the right decision because it feels much more real this way.” – Sam Walwyn

Roisin O’Hagan is a singer-songwriter from Essex, UK, who has been writing, performing and releasing music since she was 12 years old. Having grown up in a musical household, Roisin was inspired to create songs that upholds storytelling songwriting at its core, much like the music she grew up listening to such as Counting Crows, Taylor Swift, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.

Following her 2022 EP, Dreamstate, which was a Nashville-recorded country/pop EP, Roisin is now entering a new chapter, as she begins to unveil her most authentic work today. As she opens up about difficult themes from a real, raw and human approach, Roisin sucks listeners into her world. A departure from her previous country/pop releases, her latest single “Midnight Indigo” sees Roisin exploring a mix of pop, rock and singer-songwriter elements.

“Midnight Indigo” narrates the story of two people and the toxic dynamic between them. The songwriter explains, “There is some kind of undeniable, toxic passion between them that neither can leave alone. That is until eventually one takes the power and leaves the situation with no real explanation, apology or closure.” The two individuals both know they are playing a losing game but are too afraid to pull the trigger, until one finally instigates its demise.

The angsty track is fuelled with driving guitars, upbeat percussion and move-inducing melodies. Through determined vocals and storytelling lyrics that are both honest and playfully blunt, Roisin chants, “You’re a nightmare and I can’t stop dreaming, if not us then who do I believe in, in another life I’d be running from you.”

As an independent artist, Roisin has supported Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) on tour, performed for Whispering Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2) and BBC Introducing and been named a Fender Undiscovered Artist finalist. As she embarks on this new journey, 2024 is set to be an exciting year for Roisin O’Hagan, kicking off with “Midnight Indigo.”

London based musician and producer James Casper shares his new single ‘I Thought I’d Do No Wrong’ with some help from Close collaborator Aniwa. This tender, stripped-back offering is the second single off James Casper’s new EP ‘If it weren’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have luck at all’. ‘I Thought I’d Do No Wrong’ is a collaborative creation, with every aspect of the song- performance, production, mixing, and mastering- being handled by both James Casper and Aniwa, showcasing their combined talents and creative partnership.

‘I Thought I’d do no wrong’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Everything about singer- songwriter Nathan Ball feels unforced. A natural, easy, calming presence, his music scales universal emotional highs with as much fluidity as it descends into moody introspection.

His latest single “Stateline” is demonstrative of just that. Written whilst on tour in Australia, trying to capture the spirit of life on the road, Nathan found inspiration in the long dusty roads, life in transit, new people, new faces and new spaces. He confides, “It’s an adaptation of the story of Icarus ignoring advice and flying too close to the sun and meeting his demise. It’s a coming of age love song about dreaming your life away and the innocent beauty of young love, only to be brought back down to earth and all its reality.” “Stateline” glows with warmth, as jangly guitars and driving percussion create an all-encompassing atmosphere, layered with emotion-fuelled lyrics that tug at your heartstrings.

Based in Cornwall, the outdoors is a huge catalyst for much of Nathan’s material, with the songwriter sharing, “It’s where I write best; by the sea, in the mountains, in the woods. I love being totally immersed in nature so naturally those themes find their way into the music.  I love being in the ocean – just being in it and feeling totally insignificant. It’s a reminder of the order of things.”

Nathan’s work fuses two chief loves – classic songwriting and an eagerness to experiment and push sonic boundaries. Perhaps unexpectedly, he finds inspiration in left-field house music. “I love the way it makes you feel – it’s euphoric, but sad, introverted but expressive. I love that darker side of the genre.” His love for the electronic world led him to a feature with seminal British electronica act Faithless and as a result he is now touring as their vocalist,  where he will be headlining festivals including Wilderness and The Glade Stage at Glastonbury.

Nathan’s songs have impressively amassed over 60 million streams to date. He’s had the pleasure of supporting artists such as Bon Iver, Van Morrison, Ziggy Alberts, Matthew and the Atlas, and has also performed at festivals including Boardmasters, Green Man, Secret Garden Party, British Summer Time, All Points East and many more.

“Stateline” is the first single to be released from his upcoming EP Lost Track of Time, with new label partners V2 Records.

From the imaginative, yet highly-analytical mind of Alannah Kavanagh comes Grizzly Coast, the Toronto-based musical project blending dreamy indie rock instrumentation with introspective pop lyricism.

Starting in 2017, Grizzly Coast cut her teeth playing the Toronto solo acoustic circuit before expanding into a four-piece indie band in 2019. Nine months after the band’s inaugural live show, they were honored as part of Exclaim! Magazine’s Class of 2020, tearing up the stage in celebration of Canadian music.

Since kicking off the project, Grizzly Coast has been sharpening her songwriting, growing her loyal following, and tightening her live show in Toronto’s vibrant live music scene, supporting acts like Fast Romantics and Begonia. Her first single, Zuzu’s Petals, was featured as one of CBC’s top contenders for the 2019 Searchlight Competition. Her second, Half-Light Boy, had its mid-century-inspired music video go viral on Reddit’s R/ListentoThis.

2020 saw the culmination of years of songwriting with the release of her debut EP, Party of One. The EP successfully blended dreamy guitar rock sensibilities with Grizzly Coast’s trademark thoughtful lyricism, and was supported by Sirius XM while charting on college radio.

Her debut LP is slated for release in Fall 2024.

Singer-songwriter Elthia creates indie pop music that leaves her listeners marveling at her wordplay and vibing to her ethereal, dreamy style. Combining real stories with fantastical elements, Elthia writes character pieces and ghost stories that she sets to music in each of her songs. In her own words, “I want my songs to feel like paintings that you sit in front of and stare at for a long time, getting completely entranced by them. I want you to listen to my music and continue to get lost in that world.” She enhances her artistic image by creating wearable art pieces, using dripping candles, demitasse spoons, and skeletal claws, all featured in her music videos.

In October 2020, Elthia’s debut single, “i love you but you make me cry” went viral, generating millions of views online and creating a fanbase eager for her following releases. Inspired by thrillers and the dark feminine, Elthia takes on the role of a monster playing with her prey in her most recent single, “medusa”. This song goes beyond a simple return to music; it’s a powerful statement of reclaiming identity and artistry, showcasing the unbreakable spirit of a woman who has faced her darkest moments and emerged stronger.

Her single “RUIN MY DAY”  is about standing up for oneself and not letting others influence how we feel about ourselves. She shares, “The song is almost saying “try me” because I am at a point in my life where I do not let the little things get to me anymore, and I will not let someone ruin my day or get in the way of my happiness. As an extremely sensitive person, someone who is a people person, it is extremely difficult to walk away from situations and people that do not serve me without letting it affect me—this song intends to show that it is possible to do that and cut the fat when you need to.”
