INsiders Guide: Flight Facilities, ROZET, BLOND:ISH, Girl Tones, World’s First Cinema, Bass Canyon, DJ Unknown…

award-winning Australian duo Flight Facilities and Chicago duo DRAMA land on Glitterbox with “Dancing On My Own.” Flight Facilities’ impact on the electronic scene of their home country is well documented, with their crossover sound hitting the ARIA charts and earning them numerous AIR awards—most recently for Best Independent Dance or Electronic Album in 2022.

Throughout their extensive career, their expansive disco-tinged tracks have been remixed by the likes of Chloe Caillet, Riva Starr, and Folamour. With leagues of experience working with top-tier vocalists, including Kylie Minogue, Aloe Blacc, and Channel Tres, Flight Facilities now, once again, collaborate with producer and vocalist duo DRAMA. The Windy City pair often bring a blend of R&B and hip-hop influences to their eclectic Chicago house-inspired releases, earning them acclaim from tastemakers across the globe. “Dancing On My Own” combines Flight Facilities’ sleek, disco-laden production with the chill, melancholic dance vocal stylings of DRAMA for a distinct addition to the Glitterbox catalog. The single will be both artists’ debut on the iconic UK label, which has been home to artists like Honey Dijon, Folamour, Purple Disco Machine, and more.

Anyone who has had a night out, on their own, knows the vulnerable feeling of flying solo. It’s awkward and uncomfortable at first, but they quickly become the best memories. “Dancing On My Own” is a tribute to our formative experience of embracing solitude with strangers.”

Miami-born, LA-based producer, singer, and rapper ROZET has announced their upcoming HEAD EP with a new single ‘Eat’ out now via Young Art Records. Co-produced by Wichtea and Machinedrum, ‘Eat’ serves as the third single off the EP following ‘Thinking A Lot’ and ‘Feelings Aren’t Facts’.

‘Eat’ is fueled by ROZET’s punchy topline and eclectic production style that ranges from Miami Bass and Jersey Cub to jungle inspired breaks. Powerful and raw, their sharp-tongued lyricism cuts through bouncy kicks, choppy synths, and hyper-rhythmic percussion. Thrilling from the jump, ‘Eat’ displays the absorbent spontaneity and sonic depth that will be explored on ROZET’s upcoming HEAD EP.

Inspired by ROZET’s background as a member of the ballroom/vogue scene in Miami growing up, the track is inspired by colloquialisms for praise within the community such as “they ate that” or “that outfit eats”.

“It reflects a sense of owning the moment, which parallels the satisfaction and confidence one feels after enjoying a delicious meal. Both literal eating and the “Watch me eat” term convey a sense of pleasure, presence, and self-assuredness, whether through savoring food or confidently showing up in a setting,” ROZET commented. “I hope when people listen to “Eat” they imagine themselves wearing leather boots and stomping out any doubts they may have, while taking up as much space as they need to express themselves authentically,” ROZET added.

BLOND:ISH unveils plans for her compassionate new body of work, Never Walk Alone, her second studio album forthcoming via Insomniac Records on February 14, 2025. Alongside the announcement comes the new single “Can’t Let You Go,” featuring Zimbabwe singer and producer Bantu.

In a world full of isolation and an ever-growing need to focus on mental health, Never Walk Alone (and its title track released this summer) is meant to serve as a friend in times of anxiety and loneliness. The previous single, “Different Way,” reminded us that even though we all endlessly compare ourselves to others, everyone’s journey is unique. With “Can’t Let You Go,” BLOND:ISH explores the bittersweet tug-of-war between hello and goodbye with a loved one.

Meeting Bantu was a super sweet random encounter. We went deep pretty quickly. I spoke to him about the intentions infused into this album. I wanted it to open up people into discovering they are their own best friend — and he immediately wanted to add his distinct flavor.”

Planet Earth’s raging sister duo Girl Tones are fed up with cyclical disappointment on their new single “Again.” Released today via Parallel Vision, the tense, endlessly-building track sees the band angry, but not surprised, when people repeatedly show their true colors. Having been compared to The White Stripes in their performance style, “Again” is the product of a generation that was bred to use rock-and-roll as an outlet for constantly being let down and overlooked — Stream / Watch the video here at 1pm ET.

Produced by Brad Shultz and recorded at the culture-defining Nashville studio Battle Tapes, Girl Tones are establishing their singular sound with these early releases. They’re tired of action as well as inaction, sick of being in their heads and also letting it all out; it’s a contradiction that allows for a raw sense of escapism.

“‘Again’ is desperate, a cry for help,” shares Kenzie. “Just like how the verses repeat, the rhythms and melodies have an obsessive repetition.”

World’s First Cinema has released their riveting new single, “The Underneath,” via Fearless Records. It’s available to stream now, along with a lyric visualizer

The Los Angeles-based duo – John Sinclair and Fil Thorpe – have created a powerful track with striking vocals and intriguing electronic synths. It showcases the haunting side to their music, straying from the anthemic, baroque pop elements in their latest single, “Freak Show,” which came out with an accompanying music video in October.

Written in collaboration with Fran Hall (co-writer on Imagine Dragons #1 single “Follow You”, and ZAYN’s “Something in the Water”), “The Underneath” explores overwhelming feelings of being swallowed whole by the darker side of yourself. Throughout the track, the protagonist struggles to not give in to their urges, temptations, and addictions. When the chorus is introduced, the ‘Underneath’ is described as both an entity that overtakes them and a wicked reflection of oneself.

The group shared their sentiments on the track: “We took the opportunity to create something heavy and cinematic with The Underneath. It’s deep and synth-forward, driven by many unique cinematic-electronic elements that define World’s First Cinema.”

“Doing Okay” is the lush new single from MaLLy & Last Word’s joint album, The Sweetest of It All
After five years since his last full-length release, the Minneapolis rapper MaLLy returns sounding more comfortable and more focused on this warm feel good track.
Accompanied by Last Word’s angelic and powerful keys and full bassline, MaLLy’s pen, bravado and delivery shine bright highlighting all of the reasons he is doing okay, better yet, doing great.

Brooklyn-based musical jack-of-all-trades Harrison Lipton releases his cheeky new breakup anthem “On My Own” via Amuse. The facetious, 70s-inspired dad rock song uses the all too familiar coping mechanism of poking fun at inherent sadness to make it through the day. His voice full of smooth earnestness, Lipton ushers listeners towards the greener grass on the other side — Stream

“The song started in a small bedroom studio in Carroll Gardens during a session with Aidan Ludlam of the booyah! kids, who uses lyrics like an impressionist painter uses paint,” shared Lipton. “He helped me balance the dissonance between being dumped and finding how to be okay with it.”

Shot on 16 mm film, today’s official music video was directed by Yishen Wang. An ode to the city and people of New York, Lipton finds himself lost in a sea of recognizable faces, even Times Square’s Naked Cowboy

In the summer of 2021, Brighton-based, Scottish-Thai songwriter Helen Ganya’s grandmother passed away. The grief hit the artist hard, not only because it marked the loss of her last remaining grandparent, but also because it felt like her links to being half-Thai were disintegrating. Ganya grew up in Singapore, but spent her summers in the northeast of Thailand where her mum’s side of the family is from, visiting her grandmother. Where would all those memories go now that the person at the centre of them was gone? What was her relationship to this place without that glue? And so, in an attempt to process it all, Ganya began to write. “I got my diary and wrote every single memory of my time as a child in Thailand, spending time with her, my grandad, my aunts and cousins and everything,” she explains, “I had these snapshots of memories that I just wrote down because I just suddenly panicked: it was like, who am I, then?”

It was for this reason that, while Helen Ganya was waiting for her acclaimed 2022 album, polish the machine, to come out, she was already working on what would become her arresting new record, Share Your Care. Ganya has been releasing music since 2015 (formerly under the moniker Dog in the Snow). In the records she’s put out over the years, she’s shown a proclivity towards dark and artful rock and off-kilter sounds, garnering praise from the likes of the Sunday Times, Uncut, Clash, Loud & Quiet and more. But Share Your Care marks a new era, building on Ganya’s past sonic worlds and interspersing them with traditional Thai instrumentation, resulting in a plush, luminous, psych-tinged affair that is full of feeling.

LEYA – the avant-pop duo of harpist Marilu Donovan and vocalist/violinist Adam Markiewicz – has long inhabited a beguiling world, blending Medieval-sounding origins with modern folk, classical, and more. From deep roots in the NYC underground to international recognition as a crossover force, their work has found its way into spaces ranging from fashion runways to Pornhub, and beyond.

The basis of LEYA is the unique tuning system of the harp, designed by Donovan for the project, which pairs with the distinctly wide, operatic singing range of Markiewicz, who further blends these vocals with processed violin tones. The template for this sound is found on their 2018 debut The Fool and further developed on their 2020 breakthrough follow-up Flood Dream, which The New York Times called “the auditory equivalent of awakening in the fog of a bad dream only to discover you’re still trapped in the nightmare” and earned widespread acclaim including a formidable 8.0 album review from Pitchforkwho remarked how LEYA’s music “revels in the tension between elegance and disquiet, subverting the stereotypes associated with their chosen instruments.” This sense of unease has become a distinctive tone for the project, a sort of collision of beauty and calamity that both soothes and disturbs its listeners.

“Doing Okay” is the new video from MaLLy and Last Word’s joint album The Sweetest Of It All

Accompanied by Last Word’s angelic powerful keys, and full bassline, MaLLy’s pen, bravado, and delivery shine bright highlighting all of the reasons he is doing okay, better yet, doing great!

The Sweetest of It All, MaLLy’s latest full-length offering and collaboration produced entirely by Last Word is a 14-track opus of personal and breezy expressions over a lush, colorful, and futuristic-soul soundscape from the 70’s and 80’s with a light touch of boom-bap nostalgia. Throughout the album, MaLLy calmly explores and identifies the layers of his humanity through the lens of joy, resilience, and equanimity. The south Minneapolis rapper confidently champions true liberation, his Blackness, and sobriety as some of the Sweetest elements the Creator has gifted him in this life.

Miraculously, the album was birthed and completed worlds apart with MaLLy recording in Minneapolis while Last Word tirelessly sampled and chopped an array of audio textures from his new home in New Zealand. Although on opposite sides of the earth, both artists remained creative, reconnected on The Travelers Tour with Brother Ali in 2022, and collectively vowed to create an album that had its own sound, followed no trends and embodied the essence of wholeness like so many Hip-Hop classics that shaped their lives.

From start to finish, the duo fearlessly taps into new territory and designs a space that is much lighter, expansive and uplifting than their gritty and experimental collection from 2014, The Colors of Black. Fast forward 10 years later, and it is clear both MaLLy and Last Word’s energy is in sync, refined and more mature.

MaLLy’s wisdom of years past, smooth flows, subtle wordplay and succinct content meld naturally with Last Word’s alluring production on the space age sonics of “New Year, New Wave” or funky-organ laced “Dreaming” and the moody and misty “100 Heartbreaks.” Whether the emcee is opening his heart or attempting to put it back together, in solidarity or comfortable in solitude, it might be safe to say that MaLLy is reinvigorated and focused with his most purposeful content and body of work to date.

The Sweetest of It All is rap, it’s soulful, it’s rich, it’s blue and it’s Black. A complete manifestation of balance, inner peace and growth.

With an approach to songwriting that surpasses his young age, Liamdelivers a fusion of alt hip-hop, neo-soul and alt R&B, occasionally layered with elements of UK dance and garage. Weaving mellow, jazzy UK hip-hop beats, introspective rhymes and impressive vocals, this South London newcomer proves he’s just as comfortable spitting bars as he is singing in his second single, ’wishbone.’

Marking a shift from his grittier 2023 release ‘The View’, ’wishbone’ showcases a soulful, melancholic sound and all together lighter melodic approach while still maintaining his ruminative songwriting.

“The song is about being uncomfortable” Liam explains. “The hope of your relationship working out shouldn’t be dependent on a birthday wish or a shooting star. The universe has its plan.” He adds “I wanted to make a track that reflected overthinking. Something that felt nostalgic yet unique. As if you’d heard it before because you recognised that feeling.”

Rising artist Yasmina Moonlight shares her new single “Ayam,” out today via LPME Records/Studios. Rock band L.S. Dunes has today shared their new single “Paper Tigers”, out now via Fantasy Records. “Paper Tigers” marks the third track to be released from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Violet, which will be out in full on January 31st, 2025. Fans can stream the haunting new song now here, and watch the visualizer, created by Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta) here. Pre-orders for Violet are available now at https://found.ee/LSDunesViolet.

I think when I initially started writing the chord progression for this song I was originally writing it for myself, because it didn’t feel like an L.S. Dunes song to me, and if it was an L.S. Dunes song, it would most certainly be a departure from what we had done in the past,” recalls Frank Iero. “And then I started to think well, that’s really silly of me, why wouldn’t Dunes be able to do something like this? If I want listeners to not put us in a box and believe we can do anything then I’m going to have to believe it first. So I reworked the progression a little bit and sent it over. Hearing it now, I can’t believe I ever doubted it. Paper Tigers was always an L.S. Dunes song. Together we can do anything.”

At just 24 years old, Kina has reached multiple platinum certifications with his moody, lo-fi pop anthem  ‘Get You The Moon’. Utilizing the talents of writer and vocalist Snøw, ‘Get You The Moon’ saw a snowball effect on social media. ‘Get You The Moon’ flooded TikTok For You pages all over the globe and went viral on Soundcloud, earning its status as a viral sensation. The single’s unique flavour of melancholy lo-fi brought to the forefront a new sound; before Kina, very few lo-fi producers had reached the global success and recognition that Kina has seen since its release. In fact, it secured Kina’s place as the first  Italian artist to reach one billion Spotify streams for an original single. Catching the attention of renowned record labels, Kina’s track was re-released through Columbia Records during its rise to fame. After spending 450 days on Spotify’s Global Daily Charts, ‘Get You The Moon’ is now certified platinum in seven countries (US, Australia, France, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, and Canada) and reached gold status in five more (Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK). From self-releasing on Soundcloud to a global sensation,  Kina’s story is a testament to the unstoppable power of the internet when it discovers an incredible song.

Multi-Platinum global pop superstar Kesha is marking Black Friday with today’s arrival of her hugely anticipated new single, “DELUSIONAL.” Produced by Zhone (Troye Sivan’s GRAMMY® Award-nominated “Rush”) and co-written by Kesha, Zhone, and Madison Love (Lady Gaga, Ava Max) – the same team behind this summer’s worldwide hit single, “JOYRIDE” – the visionary new track is available everywhere now on her own Kesha Records.

Japan’s HARU NEMURI has teamed up with Thailand’s Pyra for a new single called “Don’t make love vow”, out everywhere today. Stream “Don’t make love vow” here:

“The song was created from a critical perspective on the system of marriage,” says HARU NEMURI on the lyrics of the upcoming single. “The institution of marriage has historically served as a mechanism to bind and regulate individuals and communities economically, socially, and religiously. In Japan, only heterosexual (men and women couples) are granted the right to use this institution, which could be seen as society imposing normative rules on forms of love and is profoundly unequal. Having to constantly prove one’s relationships to authorities and receive their endorsement is, simply put, strange. So, in this song, from the perspective of if love truly exists, does it really require such a contract? Isn’t this just an obsession by having “no guarantee without a contract”? The song attempts to separate love from the institution, challenging the necessity of the institution itself.

Abilene, TX’s Dexter and The Moonrocks’ Cinderella story continued its unlikely trajectory this week. The small-town Texas alt rock band who perform “sad cowboy songs” found themselves at the top of the Alternative Radio chart with “Sad in Carolina;” scoring more than two million streams in two weeks and averaging 100,000 streams/day on their cover of Tyler Childers’ “Messed Up Kid;” and announcing their first series of tour dates in 2025.

“Sad in Carolina,” the band’s debut radio single from their EP “Western Space Grunge” (Severance Records/Big Loud Rock), has steadily ascended to the top of the alternative rock radio chart. This week, it surpassed Sum 41 to become the #1 song at the format.

As “Sad in Carolina” climbed to the peak spot at radio, the band, who themselves are fans of GRAMMY-winning country/folk artist Tyler Childers, shared a live recording of his b-side “Messed Up Kid,” which struck a chord: the cover was streamed nearly 800,000 times in the first week, now surpassing two million streams. On TikTok, fans have used the sound more than 1,000 times per day in the first 2 weeks of its release. Whiskey Riff said of the song, “Tyler Childers’ ‘Messed Up Kid’ was destined to be a rock song, & Dexter and The Moonrocks proved it.”

Carrying that momentum into the New Year, today the band revealed 2025 tour dates spanning the Southern US, kicking off February 7 at Austin, TX’s iconic venue Emo’s and running through March 1 at Oxford, MS’s The Lyric. A full list of dates is below, and tickets are on-sale this Thursday, December 5 at https://www.dexterandthemoonrocks.com/tour.

Belgian composer Alice Hebborn‘s debut album, Saisons, is a contemplative journey through sound and nature. It’s a deeply personal exploration of humanity’s relationship with the natural world, shaped by Hebborn’s walks in the countryside and her readings on ecofeminism and environmental harmony.

Saisons was born out of Hebborn’s move to the countryside in 2021, where her daily immersion in wild landscapes inspired the intricate sonic world of this project. The seven-movement album for piano and electronics does not represent literal seasons, but rather collects impressions of nature as it is today—fluid, unpredictable, and increasingly disrupted by climate change. Pianist Nao Momitani, Hebborn’s close collaborator, performs on the album, blending acoustic and electronic textures into a harmonious and organic soundscape.

“Through Saisons, I explore the idea of an ideal where humans live in harmony with nature,” Hebborn explains. “I wanted the album to mirror how nature functions: all elements influencing and transforming one another in an inter-connected, balanced way.” Central to Saisons is Hebborn’s fascination with the micro-details of sound, where every tiny vibration and texture evokes the delicate balance of the natural world. Influenced by readings like Bernie Krause’s The Orchestra of Animals, Hebborn sought to emulate nature’s harmony in sound, creating an interplay between piano and electronics that echoes the fluidity of ecosystems.

Hebborn also draws inspiration from the work of ecofeminist author Starhawk, whose writings on dismantling hierarchical relationships between humans and nature deeply impacted the creation of Saisons. She elaborates, “In this album, the piano represents the human element, and the electronics represent nature. Throughout the piece, they mutually influence each other without one overshadowing the other. This reflects the world I hope to see created—a world where humans no longer see themselves as separate from nature but as an integral part of it, recognizing the interdependent relationship that binds us to all living beings.”

on Giving Tuesday Gibsonthe iconic instrument brand, has announced a new release from the Gibson Band–a revolving collective of musicians who join together to make music and raise funds and awareness for worthy causes.. A hard-hitting rock song, the new benefit single “I Can Breathe” features rhythm guitars and piano from Cesar Gueikian, CEO of Gibson, with special guests Duff McKagan on lead vocals and lyrics, and Slash on lead guitar and solos. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the song “I Can Breathe” will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)through Gibson Gives. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health resource organization that is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

While the acid jazz movement kicked off in London clubs during the mid ‘80s, that phenomenon of mixing jazz and hip-hop eventually reached Stateside by the early ‘90s. One of the most musically creative groups to emerge on the scene in 1994 was Jazzhole, an evolving collective of many of New York’s most accomplished live and studio musicians. While Jazzhole’s roster has changed since their self-titled debut, the band’s core songwriting and production trio Warren Rosenstein, Marlon Saunders, and John Pondel has not.

Jazzhole’s current release, Moonlight Mile, was the culmination of a road trip that started in Woodstock, making stops in NYC and Nashville, and ended up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Peter Levin (Greg Allman, Blind Boys of Alabama) joined Jazzhole bassist David Inniss and drummer Mark Robohm in tracking at Fame Studios, while trumpet legend Randy Brecker and tabla master Prabhu Edouard added overdubs from remote locations.

Rising punk rock act Winona Fighter is excited to share the brand new music video for their hit single “HAMMS IN A GLASS”, taken from their forthcoming debut album MY APOLOGIES TO THE CHEF. Fans can watch the video now, here: https://youtu.be/Zp9vN0ZytAY

The ‘HAMMS IN A GLASS’ music video is as chaotic as the song,” shares frontwoman and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon. It is completely one take and was totally a “fly by the seat of our pants” type shoot. Jake Johnston over at We’re All Gonna Die did such an amazing job at directing on the fly as we were pretty much trying something different with each take.

She continues: “Something extremely special about this music video is that it feels like a call back to our first and only music video we made before singing to Rise ‘You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers’- a one take video, which was done with pretty much pocket change. It was so cool being able to elevate the concept while still keeping it flexible and fun.

Singer-songwriter Sydney Sherrill is diving into the holiday season with two new music videos for “Nothing More” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Last week, she unwrapped the music video for Nothing More,” an original track about the feeling of returning home and embracing the way people have changed during your time apart. This week, she also gifted fans a video for her stunning take on holiday favorite Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

“These were the last songs I released before 2024, so making these videos feel like a symbol of my growth as an artist this year,” Sydney shares. “The evolution of the music and visuals feel like a representation of how I’ve grown as a person and artist now that I’ve moved away from home to do music full time. Everyone on set was so creative and collaborative and I’m so happy for fans to see these videos and continue following along on this journey with me!”

‘No Long Talk’ is a saucy club cut that combines IDRIS’ undeniable swagger with the charismatic nature of Dirtybird’s catalog. Effortlessly smooth, ‘No Long Talk’ flaunts a bold topline provided by T.O.K’s Alx The One amidst bouncy basslines and overzealous percussion as IDRIS embraces UK and Afro House elements. ‘No Long Talk’ comes paired with GAWP’s deep tech rendition that trades the original’s energetic rhythms for darker underground tones. Serving as IDRIS’ debut on Dirtybird, ‘No Long Talk’ is a testimonial to the label’s influence in dance music for nearly 20 years.

“Having a release on Dirtybird is a dream come true for me. I’ve been spinning Dirtybird records for years.” – IDRIS
