It’s official The Goonies 2 is moving forward at Warner Bros. Pictures. Directed by Richard Donner, The Goonies was released in 1985 by Warner Bros. The cast featured Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, and Martha Plimpton.
Deadline reports that Potsy Ponciroli has been hired to write the script for The Goonies 2. Most recently Ponciroli helmed Greedy People which I loved as was released in 2024.
Plot details for The Goonies 2 remain under wraps at this time. No director has yet signed onto the project, and it’s currently unclear which cast members from the original movie will be returning for the sequel. What is known is Steven Spielberg will produce the sequel.
