The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a new Starship Troopers movie is in the works. The original film was based on the 1959 novel by Robert A. Heinlein, and was released in 1997. It starred Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico, Dina Meyer as Dizzy Flores, Denise Richards as Carmen Ibanez, Jake Busey as Ace Levy, Neil Patrick Harris as Carl Jenkins, and Clancy Brown as Sergeant Zim.
Now reports are that Neill Blomkamp is now set to write and direct a new Starship Troopers movie for Columbia Pictures. It wont be a remake apparently, according to the report “the goal is to go back to the source material.”
A release date for the new Starship Troopers movie has not yet been announced.
