INsiders Guide: Kadavar, Secret Gardens, Last Days of Heaven, DJ Premier, Dave East & Ransom…

Berlin based rock band Kadavar have released the new music video for their single “I Just Want To Be A Sound”. It was directed by Maximilian Wiedenhofer and features Caelian del Mare, a highly acclaimed young German/Turkish actor and model from Berlin. Fans can now watch the video at this link: https://youtu.be/ryx-8vPlAEA

“When I heard the song for the first time, I started dreaming of a drifter and the displacement of his world. Hallucinating visualizations of sound, of dark shreds of the other side, where the digital begins to dream,” explains Wiedenhofer on the inspiration for the music video.

The song is taken from the band’s upcoming new album of the same name to be released May 16 via Clouds Hill.

Secret Gardens, the guitar driven post rock project led by Greg Almeida, has released the instrumental edition of The Impermanent Amber, the latest installment in the project’s seasonal tetralogy. In addition, Secret Gardens has announced the Infinite Amber Spring Tour, set to kick off this April alongside With Sails Ahead.

Juan Vargas, a Texas-based multi-instrumentalist, previously known for his work under “The Secret Truth of the Universe,” introduces his latest project, Last Days Of Heaven. Blending dream-pop, shoegaze, and alternative rock, Vargas crafts a kaleidoscopic and melancholic soundscape. His music delves into themes of trauma, failure, and romantic loss, creating an evocative narrative experience.

Signed to New Morality Zine, Last Days Of Heaven debuts with the two-song single Nothing Left to Torture. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sparklehorse, My Bloody Valentine, and Deerhunter, the release features rich, layered compositions. The title track, “Nothing Left to Torture,” showcases floaty melodies and rich vocals, enhanced by saxophone, synths, and guitars from collaborator Jasper Byrne. The accompanying video, directed by Vargas, captures the song’s wistful essence.

“Pain Machine” contrasts its bright, psychedelic groove with poignant lyrics about a troubled relationship, highlighting the project’s multifaceted approach.

Last Days Of Heaven marks a compelling new chapter in Vargas’s musical journey, promising a unique blend of sound and storytelling.

“If it’s me and Preem, it’s a smash hit”!  The moment hip-hop fans have been eagerly anticipating is finally here: DJ Premier and Roc Marciano have teamed up for their first-ever collaborative single, “Armani Section,” which is now available at all DSP’s.

In the same vein in which DJ Premier has been responsible for leading and influencing the sound of hip-hop for decades, Roc Marciano has also earned his flowers for re-shaping how “underground” hip-hop has evolved over the years.  That’s why “Armani Section” is not just a cultural milestone, it’s a statement; a declaration that true luxury and authenticity in music never goes out of style, is never dated; and you can never have enough of it— and it sounds exactly like what you envision high-end luxury music for the masses embodying.

As the rush of hearing one of the most respected and innovative lyricists of his generation, teaming up with arguably the greatest hip-hop producer ever begins to set in, Marci seizes the moment, wastes no bars, and no time, his effortless slick talk detailing how he “bagged the cashier, wearing cashmere,” how you can’t stop time on the block, and sneaking in a barrage of jabs like Ali throughout both of his verses.  DJ Premier’s classic craftsmanship and innovation provides the canvas, and he digs deep into his bag to speak with his hands delivering one of his patented and elegant scratch choruses.

Though they previously collaborated on PRhyme 2, Marci guesting on “Respect My Gun,” this new union manifested due to some good old-fashioned retail therapy.  “True Story. Several years ago I was shopping at Macy’s in Herald Square and I was passing the “Armani Section,” when I see Roc Marci there and he asks me when are we gonna do a record together” Premier vividly recalls.  “I told him we would eventually get to it. Fast forward a few years later, right before Christmas 2024, I gave him a call and told him it was time to get to it.  I reminded him of that day, and he said that should be the title of the record.  The tone was officially set.”

“Armani Section” is gutter and expensive.  Everything you’d expect from a Preemo and Marci joint” Roc Marciano adds.

The “Big Blue Box” song was first heard on Laurie Berkner’s award-winning 2019 album, Waiting For The Elevator. Starting with Laurie’s stunning a cappella vocals, “Big Blue Box” builds buoyantly as each bandmate’s instrument is introduced.

this is Philly-based alternative rock band ASkySoBlack .This group blends the mournful melodies of 90s icons like Hum, Smashing Pumpkins, and Deftones with the chaotic aggression of 00s emo acts like Glassjaw and At the Drive-In.

Their first full-length record, Touch Heaven, marking a significant evolution in their sound. The album offers personal and musical depth that resonates with anyone navigating grief, personal struggle, or emotional release. It dives into themes of love, loss, and heartbreak, focusing on melody and introspective soundscapes.

ASkySoBlack has proven themselves as one of the most exciting bands in modern alternative music, racking up over 1.6 million streams on their self-released debut EP What Is Yet to Come? Their follow-up EP, Autumn in the Water, further cemented their sound, amassing 2.1 million streams and catching the attention of fans and critics alike. The band has toured with acts like Soul Blind, Trauma Ray, and Kaonashi, selling out their initial vinyl and CD runs.

Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Eric Bass (Shinedown) has today shared his new single “Azalia”, taken from his forthcoming debut solo album I Had A Name. Fans can stream the song now here, and watch the brand new music video here.

“‘Azalia’ is one of the two main protagonists in our story,” explains Eric. “She is a former warrior monk who has thrown off her religion to become an assassin. Dedicating her life to the insurgency against the WAL and Legion, and to killing every official who had anything to do with her mother’s death.

He continues: “In the song ‘Azalia’ we find her on the run for her life with the government’s demons close behind. She will have to rely on her tenacity in order to not give up, and on her natural abilities to survive. The keys to which are contained within a gift her mother gave her as a child. Eric Bass presents…Azalia.
