Deadline has reported that a reboot is in the works for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with talks of Glen Powell leading the cast. According to the report studios and filmmakers have all been in contact with Verve, an agency that handles the rights to the horror franchise. There is also word that JT Mollner, the director of the 2023 indie thriller Stranger Darling is interested in helming the project.
In the article it also states that if Mollner gets the opportunity to write a script for a new entry in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then Glen Powell is someone who “would like to read it.” While nothing has been set in stone it’s understood studios like A24, NEON and Lionsgate are interested in distribution of the film.
